Speedy warmup

Video from yesterdays workout at the gym. Just movements that felt good at the moment.

Yesterdays post was not the happiest one maybe. One should not write blog posts on a day when tired and feeling down:) I went to the gym after that which always helps. Working out, dance or any other sport can get you in a better mood. Today is a new day and I feel awesome. Thor has been sick this morning, but other than that, I feel like the world is an awesome place to hang out in (sounds like I’m an alien visiting earth haha).

I can’t really tell if Thor is feeling better or not since he’s just sleeping right now, so I don’t know if I can run over to the yoga studio and take a class. Hmm. And I have a bit of a tummy ache for whatever reason so maybe I should do other important stuff today and take care of my little fluff butt.

I hope you’ll have an awesome day!

“Spider Sliding”

I went to the gym earlier today. There was one man on the treadmill in there and I decided to go in to the little room to warm up. Oh, it felt so good to be on the floor, just to feel the floor underneath me. With closed eyes, I slowly started to move.

Eventually this turned into some rolling around and crawling, like some kind of creature. I love doing that, the smaller and weirder the better, hehe. But my socks were kinda slippery and I didn’t wanna take them off (I don’t know what other gym people think of that) so it turned in to some sort-of “spider slides”, with feet kinda staying on the floor the whole time. It was fun. I tried a lot of different things and kept in mind that this was a warmup and I wanted all muscles to have been worked after it, and yes, big and small muscles were all warmed up after this:) The video clip above is from the end of my warmup so you can definitely tell that I’m getting tired hehe. After that, I was on the bike for a while and then did some pilates. Felt good.

Workshop flyer

Last night, even if I was extremely tired, I grabbed my yoga mat and walked over to the studio. I haven’t been there in a while actually. Felt good to take a class at night. It was a more gentle class taught by the owner. Exactly what I needed. My balance was really good and I felt stronger in my knees, so all the work I have done at the gym must have paid off:)

After class I saw the workshop flyer on the wall. I knew she had them printed a while ago but I hadn’t seen them yet. It looked nice. Hopefully people will sign up for this workshop. I’m excited to teach and I think this will be a fun class. I’m extremely nervous of course cause I don’t know who could show up and it’s a class for anybody, no previous experience needed, which makes it interesting but also tricky since I don’t know how much material I need to prepare for it in case I need to change throughout the class. And there are many ways I can take this class. I’m trying to not make it into too much dance, it’s just inspired by it, and I want to fit in all the things from the description of course and also make it ok for all body types. It’s a challenge but an exciting one:)

Teaching: yoga and stretch class

Last night I had two neighbors coming to the little room at the gym. One woman who came last time couldn’t make it yesterday, but another one did. I was pretty tired right before that, but I arrived 10 minutes early along with my husband and just rolled around on the floor in the weirdest ways I could think of to get myself energized and excited to teach (my husband was on the bike laughing at the sound effects I made with my movements).

The two neighbors showed up ready to just go straight into savasana (corpse pose – the finish pose of yoga) and stay there for 1.5 hour. I made the decision to have them lie down on their backs in x’s to begin. I wanted them to do a few things to cross the mid line to wake up the body, but they mostly just laughed and looked at me like I was crazy for asking them to do that. I don’t think either of them has ever taken a dance class before and they felt uncomfortable. My bad. So, I switched back to what I originally had “planned (I don’t really plan, I just go there with an idea of something to work on). We did some easy yoga and after a little bit, one of them wanted to show what she had learned in a yoga class she took last week, which was a handstand pose (bakasana). So we switched direction in class again. Since I had done plenty of things to open up the body and warm up their backs and shoulders, I thought our bodies was warm enough and prepared for another handstand pose with the help of the wall. After this we did a few stretches before they finally got to relax in savasana.

I don’t know if they feel like they got anything out of last nights “class”. I’m gonna approach it a little bit different the next time. I gave them some freedom to change yesterday, but I now know more what it is that they want and the levels of all three ladies. But the woman who showed up last time has already improved on some things in her body which is awesome to see, so my teaching must have done something good:)
