We built a Fort

October 18, 2020

Two 34 year old’s and a puppy built a fort in the living room and watched The Addams Family while eating marshmallows last night.

The weather yesterday was lovely, the temperature read pretty cold but in the sun it was really nice. After our morning coffee, we drove to a strip mall to look in a few stores. I found a long sweater, a jeans dress and winter shoes. I haven’t owned shoes for winter in over 8-9 years, I just walk in sneakers all year or possibly use my rainboots when it’s too wet outside.
After getting some food in our tummies at home, we took Thor for a walk around downtown. He loves to be surrounded by people so the walk was mostly for him:) In the evening we brought Thor up to the rooftop to enjoy the sunset. Only one person up there a bit away from us, we could enjoy the warm sun, each others company and listen to the sound of crickets.
Once the sun went down we walked back to our apartment and I built a fort because yes, I am like a big kid 😀 I set everything up and asked my boys to come join me. After the movie our old bodies was tired of sitting on the floor hahaha, so I took the fort down and we sat like normal people on the couch watching some old Family Guy episode before I was so tired I could barely sit up.

The weather is really nice today so I think we have to go on a few walks with Mr Fluff. I want to go through things in the apartment today as well, IF we EVER gonna leave this place (who knows at this point really) then we don’t want to bring most of our stuff so better start to get rid of things now. Noone needs this much stuff anyway:)

too many tabs

August 26, 2020

My brain has too many tabs open

That’s how it feels most of the time for most of us. Most people don’t let their brain rest, there are thousands of thoughts per day, some say up to 60.000, and most of them are repetitive from the day before and way too many are negative. Isn’t that weird to think about? (see what I did there 😉 )
To sit down with closed eyes, even for just a few minutes, can do wonders for your mind. And what are these thoughts floating around, do they matter? Probably not. To sit down for a moment every day helps your brain to make space for those things that actually do matter, to declutter can mean you find solutions. You already have all the answers to everything inside you, but the more noise there is, the less you’ll figure things out.
If you can, I’d like you to take a couple of minutes now to sit down with closed eyes and just listen to your own breathing. If you don’t have a few minutes to spare during your day, then you need to sit down for longer:)

Lunch out and Bruce Park

This weekend has been spent a lot outside. It has been very hot and humid but as long as you are in the shade it’s good. On Saturday I asked my husband if we could go out to eat for lunch, I really felt like ordering a yummy salad (there’s just something about eating salads from delis/restaurants/bars instead of making one yourself). After a workout in the “Fanny Room” together, we walked to downtown and had a late lunch at Luckys. I chose a table a little away from the other tables outside. We ordered fried pickles and sweet potato fries as always at that place and then J got a burger and I got my precious salad:) At night we watched the White Sox vs Cubs. I also did a restorative yoga for half an hour before going to bed.

After lunch we walked over to Lorca for an afternoon latte.
I love this table they had, a built in flower pot, how awesome! I am smiling, I swear😁 This is the hardest thing to adjust to for me, that noone can see me smile which I do as much as I possibly can when I’m out n about, because I believe the world is better that way

On Saturday we drove to Bruce Park in Greenwich. It was pretty early but had still gotten pretty hot, it didn’t take long before Thor was out of breath (he also tends to burn out all his energy in the beginning of a walk cause he gets so excited haha). Very nice morning. This park is sort of in a little neighborhood but it is still kinda cute.
In the afternoon we listened to the Sox vs Cubs game on the radio on our terrace. I also did a 40 min yoga practice out there once it was shaded. In the evening we watched some tv-show on Amazon.

This week I’m just waiting for J to tell me updates about the house. It is dragging out for sure. It’s a good thing that it is taking time since we don’t plan on moving yet, but I also want to know:) If we don’t get the house then we need to look for/plan out/start building another house somewhere and that takes time. Patience. Patience.

Thor does so well in the car….(only) on the way home from places when he is tired out 😛

7 Years Anniversary

August 19, 2020

Yesterday, it was 7 years since we said “I do, I do” in Italy. All year I have been thinking it is 8 years until J told me it is 7 haha but who cares, one year more or not doesn’t really matter:) I can’t wait to celebrate our 50th 😀 …or, I mean, I Can wait, I’m in no rush to get that old 😛
Last night we decided to go out for dinner. Other than going out when we were down in Florida, we have not been to a bar or a restaurant since February. We chose to go to an Italian restaurant downtown. This place is kinda whatever but it has a super awesome truffle pasta that I love and order every time! This place is also a bit away from the other bars and restaurants in downtown which was nice, I didn’t want to be near too much people. We sat outside of course, there were plenty of guys working and they were very serious about safety which I appreciate. We had our face masks on until the food and drinks came to the table. It still feels weird to wear a mask everywhere but it is time to get used to this, we probably have to do this for a long time, especially now in the fall when things will get worse again.
Anyway. The food was delicious. We ordered meatballs and a salad for appetizers and then Jim ordered chicken with sausage and I ordered a small portion of the pasta. We are not used to eat those big portions anymore like we used to:) For dessert I got an espresso and we got a tiramisu to share. Perfect anniversary dinner, perfect company, perfect evening.
How can I be so lucky to be married to such a wonderful person? I ask myself that all the time. It is crazy how much I love and like Jimmy and I appreciate everything he does for me and Thor♥
