We had a really nice weekend. On Friday I met Jim and a guy he works with at a bar. When the guy left, J and I walked two blocks East on 30th Street and had the most amazing food at The Cannibal. The name says it all. Places like that is a reason I can never be a full time vegetarian, haha. Every bite was just too good to be true.
On Saturday we went to 14th street, left some clothes to Goodwill and then we had brunch at one of our favorite places, Brazen Fox. We sat on their little outdoor balcony for the first time. Very cute. The food was amazing as always. I can’t really remember what else we did that day, so probably nothing exciting:)
We have started to make a list of things we want to do when we live in NY and one thing was to take the new path train across the Hudson River to New Jersey and visit the Liberty State Park. The station is brand new and you walk inside the “dinosaur” (that’s my nickname for their new building next to wtc) to get to the trains. It was such beautiful day and a nice view of Manhattan, so we decided to walk instead of take another train from the station in NJ.
When we got to the Hudson River in Liberty Park we stopped for ice cream, which of course melted in a sec haha. I didn’t know this, but you can take the boat to Statue of Liberty from this side too so there were plenty of tourists on their way to the statue. Eventually we found out that the water taxi to Manhattan actually went from that side of NJ where we were, so that became a quick way home. We finished our day watching the basketball final of course.

Approved

Hello! It’s been awhile. How are you guys?
Yesterday I got the great news that I am approved for Permanent Residence in the United States of America. I can’t even explain how happy I am and what a relief this is.
The whole day was full of good energy and I had a strong feeling that yesterday was gonna be great. I went to 18th Street and took my very first Kundalini yoga class taught by my friend Jeanette. Wonderful class and I was surprised over that my body did so well, but my guess is that everything felt good because I came into the class with such open heart and mind. When the class was over and I had gathered my things, I saw an email on my phone. At first I didn’t really understand what I was reading. Last week I sent a message to my lawyer that I was worried about that my papers where gonna expire, so at first I thought it was something about that. But then I realized that the email was telling me that I am approved for my second Green Card and that if I want to I can apply for citizenship soon. So happy! I went to HU with J for some fika and I kinda forgot about it until I was on my way home. I stood there on the subway train and almost started to cry of happiness.
My love for my husband doesn’t change because of a card or not. We just want to be together and we have decided to stay here, so to be approved by his country means a lot to me. We were expecting to be approved, but I have still been worried, cause you never know. The process this time took almost a year (crazy!) so I have been feeling stressed about it for a long time. But now, I’m approved 🙂
I am in no rush to apply for a citizenship. I read that a lot of people actually never apply for one, they just renew their Green Card every ten years. It would be kinda nice to not have to deal with these papers for the rest of my life, so maybe I apply to become a citizen before this card expires, but I have a lot of time now to think about it:)

Hej!

Caffe Reggio

in the United States to serve Cappuccino”

I found out online that there is a cafe in Greenwich Village that has been there since 1927. Domenico Parisi brought the cappuccino to America and they still have the espresso machine, from 1902, at the cafe today (not in use of course, but still pretty cool). The cappuccino wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but good enough and the lunch sandwich that I ordered was great. This is a small place with tables very close to each other, but still a cozy feel to it and it really does feel old with all the art work in the room. I tried to picture how it was to sit at this cafe and sip a cappuccino back in the old days.

A coffee lover like me loves to visit places like this. New York is relatively a new city but there is plenty of interesting history and a lot is kept. New York City is definitely one of the coolest cities to discover.

It was snowing nonstop all day yesterday. We had basketball tickets but the game was cancelled and they banned the traffic in the city and closed bridges from 2:30 pm. We stayed at home all day and watched families play in the snow outside our window. When we where outside, Thor tried to run around but it was hard since he kept disappearing in the snow. But the storm wasn’t that bad actually. The news made it sound a lot worse than it is. They write that it is 63 cm snow in Central Park. No idea if that’s true, but down here in Battery Park it’s not that much.
Today has been sunny with blue sky and not very cold, which of course means slushy streets. It’s very nice to walk outside on days like this though because it’s very quiet and I have awesome rain boots. Not much people and no cars. I’m tired of the snow already though, I want it to be gone by tomorrow. Big wish, hahah.

Stor onskan, hahah.

Right before Christmas, I finally got to see The Bulls play at United Center in Chicago. What a difference to go see them at home. The entertainment in between was far more interesting than at any basketball game I’ve ever been to in New York. Sure, Bulls kinda sucked and they ended up loosing to the Nets, but still, everything else was very amusing. I had such a great time and our seats were awesome. The stadium was full and everybody seem to have fun. When we go to a Knicks game in NY, most of the people coming are tourists that has no clue of what they are actually watching, they just want to see basketball and The Knicks on their vacation in New York. So it was really cool to go to a game where people really wants to see their team play and have fun with other fans.
