ROADTRIP; USA | CANADA > LEWISTON CONCERT

July 10, 2019

Hi! I know it’s been a little quiet here since our road trip. Jim’s dad and his wife left Monday morning, I have taken care of the neighbors cats, I’ve been editing a video for you guys and right now I’m just waiting for the exterminator to come and kill the roach I found on the terrace (yuck!). But here is the first post of 3:

We had an amazing trip last week. Jim and I dropped Thor off at his new sitters house at 9 am on July 3 and then we were off. The only place we could find with coffee before the highway was Cozy which has pretty terrible coffee but that’s ok. Then we had almost 7 hours of driving ahead of us. Everything went pretty smooth all the way up to Lewiston, NY. We stayed at a cute hotel by a lake with the view of Canada.
We quickly freshened up and then walked to the little cute town for some food at a brewery and then we were off for the concert. Ra Ra Riot, Jimmy Eat World and Third Eye Blind, Jim’s dream concert hahah. He was very excited and we had so much fun. Jim caught Stephen Jenkins guitar pick so he was in heaven:)

there were like 25+ hawks flying over the concert site

Stay tuned for second and third posts and a video from our trip!

Mountain Hike

On Saturday, we woke up, got ready and drove to Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem (NY). It was about a 35 minute drive and we got there right after 9am. We have been there once before (check it out HERE) and really liked it. This time we decided to walk it backwards, so we started with the lookout point and then continued into the woods. It was very humid and we had to make sure we and Thor drank enough water along the way. Very quiet and peaceful, we didn’t meet many on our way which was kinda nice.

We decided to not walk the full round like we did the last time cause it was hot, we have both been sick and it would be tough for Thor in this heat. Still ended up walking 3.5 miles which I think is pretty good for Thor a summer saturday morning:)

Video: CAMPING IN HOBART, NY

Here is finally the video from our camping trip.
Camping with a gorgeous view, phones off, enjoying each others company while doing nothing.
When we were done doing nothing, we ate hot dogs and s’mores and then did some more nothing:)

Have an awesome day!

50 hours offline

We had a fantastic weekend away! After I had uploaded my post here on Saturday morning, I put my phone on airplane mode. We loaded the car with all our stuff and off we went. We spent the weekend in Hobart, New York, on a secluded location with beautiful view. Camping, eating hot dogs and s’mores, moments of meditation, goofing around on the grass and most of all, doing nothing. We just sat there, doing nothing. Talked to each other sometimes. And then some more nothing.

We came back home around 1pm yesterday, but I decided that I wanted to keep my phone off/on airplane mode. We went out to eat, watched tv at night and I didn’t turn my phone or computer on until 9am this morning. 50 hours offline. I used my phone for pictures, but nothing else.
Fifty hours isn’t very long, but I think it’s important to turn the phone off from time to time. When J and I go on vacation, like Kauai, St Lucia, Cayman Island or even when I go home to Sweden sometimes, I don’t use my phone for other than take photos. Sometimes there’s no service anyway. We don’t have to check instagram every 10 minutes or message with people on facebook every day. The world doesn’t end if you skip a day or two, or even ten. I would highly recommend to go offline from time to time.

It was very nice to go away for a weekend, and very good to bring Thor to experience this for the first time too. I will write more detailed about our trip later this week. Now I’m going to shut off my phone again for the night:)
