Disney World, Animal Kingdom

The third park we visited on our Disney World trip was Animal Kingdom. I really liked this park. You walk around different parts of the world and you see and meet beautiful animals.

When we stood in line for the Kilimanjaro Safari, the guy who was there to direct people where to go for getting on the truck, saw that I had a camera and told us that the best seats are in the very back and placed us there. Thanks:) Even if I love to take pictures, I still wanted to be respectful to the animals plus I wanted to actually see them and not look through a camera lens the whole time. I liked it. It was a cute ride.

The Lion King performance was cool, I wouldn’t mind being a performer in it myself:) It’s tough to be a bug was of course fun with all the effect they had, like when it felt like bugs were crawling under your butt, haha.

Our favorite ride was Expedition Everest. We went three times:) For some reason there were short lines in the afternoon. So much fun! J booked us on the Kali River Rapids ride and I wasn’t too excited about that. I don’t care if I get wet and ruins my hair or something, but I don’t like to walk around with wet clothes cause I get cold very easily (and wearing a poncho is just retarded, then you shouldn’t go on that ride). But J was excited so I told myself it will be fun. Of course all the splashy stuff came on me, and me only. I was soaked! Oh well, it was fun:)

It was so nice to walk around in this park. In the afternoon we basically just walked between the countries and enjoyed each others company. We also walked over to the kids rides. We played a few games and won over all the little kids. Maybe not so nice, but we are both very competitive hahah. We won two stuffed toys and I suggested that we should give them away to some kids, but J wanted to keep them hahah. So we had a lot of toys brought back to New York:)

So, it’s been taking me a little while to post about this park. There are so many who are against zoo’s or animals kept locked in etc. So I have read multiple articles (I tried to find the most recent ones) specifically about Disney World’s animals and try to make up my mind about things and find answers to questions. How are they treated? What does animal rights people say about this park? Should I feel guilty about that I enjoyed this park?
It seems like the animals are well taken care of. I got that feeling when I was there and after reading about it as well, that might be and hopefully is the case. Disney World has very high standards and high qualifications, I read. I’d like to think that some of these animals probably has a better life at the Disney parks than in the wild. They get fed, they have veterinary on sight and humans who care for their well being 24/7. I read somewhere that the animals comes first, so sometimes they make the decision to close off parts for the visitors, which I think is great.

This is a sensitive subject and I don’t know where to stand on this. When we were in Mexico, 2014, we went swimming with dolphins. They claimed that this specific place was one of the best and takes good care of the dolphins, but who knows, and is it really ok? I don’t know, and even if I enjoyed it, I can’t say I fully stand by it. I would much rather see them in the wild. I do not support the old circus’s and elephant riding should def be forbidden, just saying. But regarding Animal Kingdom at Disney World, well, from my own experience and from what I’ve read, I think it’s probably ok. And that’s how I’m gonna leave it.
If you have any valuable information or thoughts on this, please share, I like to hear your opinion or see some facts.

Hi friends! I’m still not feeling well. Today I have a lot more energy and my nose is starting to clear up, but I still need to take things slow. All I’m thinking of is that I want to get my body moving. I’m so used to work out, dance and move around so when I’m being forced to take it slow I quickly get bored and cranky. But I have things to do on my computer, books I want to read and there is always magazines I need to look through and then throw away. So I can keep myself busy if I really want to 🙂
Have an awesome Wednesday!

I have a strong feeling that 2017 will be awesome. I had a strong feeling just like this for 2013, and that turned out to be the best year yet (I got engaged and married, hard to top that).

I was so pumped for starting a new year that I wanted New Years Eve to go by faster so I could wake up the next day. We were invited to a friends party but they live in midtown west and we decided that taking subway or taxi up there would be a disaster because of Times Square. So instead we went to Delmonico’s down by us for an earlier dinner and for the rest of the evening we hung out at home watching NYEve on TV and we celebrated midnight on our rooftop watching fireworks by Statue of Liberty.

Yesterday morning I woke up being excited…with a sore throat and congested nose. Closer to lunchtime I finally gave in and accepted that I wasn’t feeling well. I watched a Disney movie and fell asleep. Not a very exciting first day of the year and today is even worse. I feel like crap, but it’s ok. Today will be another day of rest and movies for me and hopefully my 2017 can begin for real tomorrow:)

New Years resolutions has never been my thing. For me, it doesn’t matter if it’s a new year, new month, new week or a new day. If we want things to change or get better, then we can’t just sit and wait for the new year to come, we have to just do it. But we like the idea of a new start. Leave the past year behind and get a fresh start. Plenty of people will hang out at the gym, some will stop drinking for a month, others will make promises that they can or can not keep. I think New Years resolutions is a great idea because it gets people moving, I just never really had one.

2017 has some huge changes laid out for me and my husband. It’s terrifying and exciting at the same time. Because of these changes I feel like I have to figure some things out. Like I said, it doesn’t matter if it’s a new year or new week, it just happened to be a new year now. So I do have some wishes and New Years resolutions for this year.

6 years in NYC

New York City and I are celebrating our 6 year anniversary today. I can not believe it’s been six years since I first came to NYC! 6 years!

In a way it feels like I have been married to Jim for like ten years already, so 6 years of living here shouldn’t feel that strange, but it really does. Hannah and I landed on Newark on December 28th, 2010. My plan was to stay here for six months and then I would explore Europe. When I came back to Sweden I actually did plan on moving to Vienna, but when I was about to book my flight I somehow ended up buying a ticket to New York instead and soon I was here again. My guts told me that I wasn’t finished here, and well, I guess it was right.

I came to New York because I was curious of how dance and art was in America and in this big city where all the the Broadway shows are, where all the big dance companies perform and where all the great dancers live. I was hoping to be wrong about the idea I had of American dance. I was hoping to find out that it wasn’t what they show on So You Think You Can Dance. Unfortunately I got disappointed almost directly. But I still loved all the classes I took, because I was only gonna be here for 6 months and to dance is always fun and that was all I did here. I quickly forgot my original idea of why I came here. NYC is part of Modern Dance history which excited me. Have I seen Martha Graham Company perform? Nope. And I haven’t seen a Cunningham piece either. My curiosity of all this got lost along the way for some reason. I recently found that curiosity again so hopefully I can go see a performance 🙂

For the past few years I have kinda just been thinking that I don’t have to rush anything, because I’m gonna live in New York for at least five more years or so. Ha!! Things changed and now I’m running out of time.
This is my last anniversary in this city.
