Appointment on Friday

closeup_thorThor a couple of days ago. Dusty face, in desperate need of a bath:)

We have made an appointment with the vet tomorrow. Thor is getting neutered. We actually wanted puppies from Thor. He comes from a long line of champions and his colors is rare, but we live in New York so its easier this way.
It brakes my heart that we have to do that to him, but I’ve read about all the benefits of it and it feels like the right choice. But we can now not decide if tomorrow is the best day. We are going to Chicago on Saturday and it’s good if we can get it done before and one benefit is that he will be tired for his flight. One drawback is that he has to wear a collar during the whole vacation and he can not run around that much. We can not decide. The reason for why we haven’t done it before is because the vet wanted to wait until all his teeth is out in case they need to drag one out they can do it all at once when he is sedated. Why we now want to do it anyway is because I’m going to Sweden shortly after the trip to Chicago and then we might need to have Thor at a doggy daycare and it’s not for sure they can take him if he’s not neutered. Hard choices and decisions has to be made today.
You who have dogs, what’s your thoughts around neutering? What experiences do you have of the recovery after it?

Plastic

tired_puppyDen 22 Oktober at Thor en liten plastbit fran Jim’s kontorstol. Stackars liten.

October 22, Thor ate a small piece of plastic from Jim’s office chair. It then didn’t come either up or down and I thought that maybe he didn’t eat it after all, maybe its somewhere in the apartment (he ran around so I couldn’t take it). Tonight Thor threw it up. Its almost one month!!! Where has it been? Luckily there was no blood and the piece wasn’t that sharp so his stomach is probably fine. But wow, how is that possible? He hasn’t been eating much the past few days but we thought it was his new teeth that hurts, but it must of course have been because of the plastic that wanted to come up. Poor little one.

First time in a dog park

IMG_2512_2IMG_2516_2

Yesterday we went to the dog park. We went to a bigger and discrete one north of us. Thor got to run. I don’t think he really understood that he was without leash outside, or maybe he did but didn’t think it was a big deal like we did.
There is a dog park right by our building with one big and one small play area. I would never go to the big one with Thor. It is always filled with dogs and then often bigger dogs that is playing and barking at each other. Other owners to small dogs says the same thing. The small dogs easily feel uncomfortable there. So then it’s good that there is a small park too that is for the smaller dogs or if a dog needs to play alone. Now, Jim back home from a walk with T and said they had been running in the little park. Oh, that sounds fun! T and I probably have to go there doing that some day this week and then maybe also bring a ball to play with:)

Such lovely walk by the water

When we came home from Soho, we went for a long walk with Thor along Hudson River. Wonderful weather! He is so good to go for longer walks. A lot of people outside today, both that was shopping in soho and that was walking by Hudson, which is a little annoying sometimes when they don’t look where they are going. I’m afraid that some biker (or stroller) will hit Thor one day. People are not looking where they are walking. Tourists don’t see anything else but the view (and that I can understand…this is New York 🙂 ) and there has been several times I had to pick Thor up in my arms to avoid him getting stepped on.
It was lovely though. You have to take advantage of this before the real autumn and the winter comes.

High five

2. Fuzzy picture, but I thought it was soooo cute!
3. Sleeping little baby Thor

Igar fick Thor och jag besok av JoAnna, koreografen for The Equus Projects. Lite fika, lek med Thor och updates. Mycket trevligt. Thor var nog lite for trott for baseball sa han somnade i soffan.

Yesterday, Thor and I got a visit from JoAnna, the choreographer for The Equus Projects. Some fika, playtime with Thor and updates. Very nice. In the evening Jim and I went to eat at one of the bars on Stone Street and later we were just home watching baseball. Thor was probably too tired for baseball so he fell asleep on the couch.
