The so called snow storm is over

Today is sunny with blue sky. It wasn’t so bad here in NY with the snowstorm like they said on the news that it should be. 15-20 cm snow is not much to worry about (but, I’m also Swedish, and used to it, hihi). They had got a lot more up in Massachusetts. The kids in the neighborhood played like crazy here outside. Thor thought it was fun early yesterday, but at night I had to drag him out. Today I think he’s getting sick. He didn’t want to be outside at all, he doesn’t eat and he’s just curled up in his bed. Hopefully only a cold.

Snowstorm in NYC

Subway is closed and the traffic was shut down during the night. It’s quiet and only few that is shuffling snow outside. The worst snow was supposed to come during the night, but when we went out earlier it wasn’t that bad, looked kinda like it did yesdterday. But, now it’s snowing a lot so we’ll see how the day turns out later.

First time in a dog park

IMG_2512_2IMG_2516_2

Yesterday we went to the dog park. We went to a bigger and discrete one north of us. Thor got to run. I don’t think he really understood that he was without leash outside, or maybe he did but didn’t think it was a big deal like we did.
There is a dog park right by our building with one big and one small play area. I would never go to the big one with Thor. It is always filled with dogs and then often bigger dogs that is playing and barking at each other. Other owners to small dogs says the same thing. The small dogs easily feel uncomfortable there. So then it’s good that there is a small park too that is for the smaller dogs or if a dog needs to play alone. Now, Jim back home from a walk with T and said they had been running in the little park. Oh, that sounds fun! T and I probably have to go there doing that some day this week and then maybe also bring a ball to play with:)

3 years

Planerna blev snart att jag skulle flytta till Osterrike, start over and see what happens.

Today it’s three years since I woke up in New York after a summer on Swedish ground. I came to NY on December 28, 2010 and was planning to stay for 6 months. I stood on Swedish ground July 6 and didn’t know what would happen. New plans was soon that I would move to Austria, start over and see what happens. But, something told me that I was not done with New York, so in the last minute I decided to go back here and suddenly I had both papers and a ticket ready. Everything went so fast, but I don’t regret it for a second.

Being left alone…

photo22

Vilken bra dag jag hade igar. Gjorde nagra arenden (blev tyvarr inga shorts eller skor dock), at lunch pa nya matdelen i Brookfield Place, tittade lite pa fotboll och sag filmen “The Hunter”.

What a great day I had yesterday. Some errands (got no new shorts or shoes though), ate lunch at the new food-part in Brookfield Place, watched a little soccer and saw the movie “The Hunter”.
Something else we did yesterday was that we sat up on the rooftop to get a tan for a while. It is so wonderful to just be able to get up there and be away from all others and read a book without getting disturbed by that somebody comes and talks to you (cause it happens often here).
In this city you can get everything, yes indeed, everything. If you want to talk to people, you can, always. But you are also very rarely alone here. Having a rooftop, backyard or perhaps a balcony to spend time outdoors at is actually not a bad idea for anyone wanting to stay in a big city but also wants to enjoy a quiet moment (cause you quickly learn to appreciate the moments you’re alone here). There are many places especially in Brooklyn and Queens that has a backyard. If you want a family but still wants to live in the city, perhaps it’s a good option to move out there. Many buys a house in New Jersey or upstate and commute into the city, but it feels so not worth it to put so much time to travel back and forth, or what do you think?
We, who do not plan to have a family here is doing well on Manhattan. Additionally, Battery Park is like a bubble with less traffic, singing birds and green spaces. No wonder that the families who actually want to live on Manhattan lives down here.
