silence-hudsonriver

This photo is from like two weeks ago or so. My husband and I took Thor to FIKA cafe on Pearl Street and we had breakfast on a bench nearby. It was a warm morning so we decided to go home and leave T and then go back out again. Behind our building there is a beautiful park area where you’re not allowed to bring dogs. This is my favorite place these days. All the tourists walks by here but where I am sitting in the picture people usually don’t go because it leads to an end so you’re actually left alone there. I have been there several times the past two weeks. I love to just sit there and listen to the water and feel the platform move along with it.
After Jim took this picture he sat down next to me. We drank our coffee and sat in silence for some time. These days not many people can actually enjoy a moment in silence in company with someone else. If you’re not talking to each other then you’re probably on your phone. I feel so comfortable with my husband and I don’t have to talk to him all the time. That’s one beautiful thing about love and friendship, you don’t have to speak, you just feel.

Detta foto ar taget for typ tva veckor sedan.

Feel before doing

yoga-morning

After my breakfast this morning, I rolled out my mat and got set up to do yoga. I had coffee left and didn’t feel like doing yoga and drink coffee at the same time, yoga should have my fully focus when I’m upside down:) So I sat down on my mat, drank my coffee and wrote in my journal. I wrote down everything I have been struggling with in my yoga practice lately. Yoga is from day to day. Something you might have been feeling good about last week might be the toughest for you this week.
These days I feel tight in my back and shoulders and because of this my breathing is high up in my body. So my focus is to feel long in my spine and to get the breathing down in the belly. Writing this down helped me focus on this a bit more in my hour of yoga. To take few minutes before to think about or to even write down what you need to work on can help you in dance class or in yoga, I feel like.

We went to Coney Island today. We took the subway to Brooklyn where we had to change train. The second train was going in slow motion so we decided to actually get off and get a taxi instead. We started off with hotdogs from Nathan’s and then we walked down to the beach. A lot of people today. We found a spot we liked, got set up and then a family came and sat down next to us. They played extremely loud Bob Marley music on a huge speaker facing us. It was too loud for our ears so we ended up moving away from them. Poor kids who has to listen to that all day.
Anyway. It was nice to be on the beach. It’s not very clean there and you have to be careful not to step on glass but as long as you have a big blanket its fine. I have not been in the ocean since our trip to Mexico in January 2014 so I definitely had to go in. I didn’t stay long in the water though because there was a lot of seaweed and plastic bottles, cups and other crap, but I am glad that I could cool off at least. After 1,5 hour we packed our things, walked around the area a little before we took a taxi home again to be with Thor.
Even if the beach isn’t the greatest, it is still nice that we have access to go to a beach. I grew up near the beach and the ocean and I miss it a lot especially during the summer. But I also love to enjoy the city life. We will not live here forever so it’s nice to experience the Manhattan summers now.

Spontaneous dog pawty

Jim came home from work and said that The Ritz Carlton Hotel (right here by us) was having an outdoor bar and a bunch of dogs. So we went there to check it out. The hotel were hosting a party for humans and their dogs tonight and the next one is in August 27th. Thor was barking almost the whole time at other people, at other dogs and at us to give him the free treats, but it was still a pleasant time. We ordered wine and some food and enjoyed the pawty and the nice evening.
