The headline reads “the day before the dipping day”. It means it’s the day before Christmas Eve. In the old Swedish traditions, Christmas Eve was the day you dip into the pot. You use the broth from the cooked ham in which you dip the bread. So when it’s getting closer to Christmas celebration (which in Sweden is the 24th) you count down saying for example on the 22nd “the day before the day before the dipping day”. So today is the the day before. 
Apparently family drove to my grandmas today. It’s seven hours between us now when I’m here and I have no idea if we can skype one of the days or not. I am celebrating with my husbands family in Chicago this year. I am very excited to spend time with his side of the family during Christmas and experience it the American way. I have been in America four times before on Christmas, but it’s not the same to just celebrate with my husband, which of course is nice but not the same, especially not when you have food poisoning for 24 hours like last year.
I feel far away from my family and I miss them all. But, I married into a wonderful family that I gladly spend the holidays with. Not much of Christmas feeling yet, but I’m sure it will come when I get to see everybody and eat all the food 🙂
