20150711_140924_2A photo of my little love and me from exactly a year ago

We have a little boy who loves to eat twigs outside. Thor knows that he’s not supposed to but just like a little 3 year old, he ignores us or makes it a game to try to eat before we take it from him. This has of course now caused a problem. We were up all night between Sunday and Monday with a puppy who threw up. He got some stuff out around 8 pm and usually it stops after that, but he seemed to have something stuck and he kept throwing up. After a while, he was so uncomfortable that he started to cry:( Early in the morning after his last attempt to get it out, he was in bed with us trying to find a way to sleep, he started shaking and screaming in pain. So when the vet opened we called and could come in directly. He was so tired that he fell asleep standing up several times. The doctor didn’t get much noise out of him since he was so exhausted but there was clearly discomfort. After two hours with x-rays and meds, he could come home. He was all drugged up and slept all day long. He is better today but still sleepy. But he will be himself soon I think. We are gonna do some more test in a few weeks and then we’ll know more if this has caused bigger problems.
Pets can’t tell you what’s wrong and it’s heartbreaking to see them in pain. Lucky for us, we have a vet around the corner so we could take him there directly and get help. He’s our little baby and we are now praying that he’ll be ok soon ♥

Both body and brain is still on vacation I think. Been so tired since we came back. We need another vacation to recover from our vacation, haha. Why is it always like that?
We had a great long weekend in Dominican Republic. So nice to get away from New York sometimes, and in this case it was a perfect escape for my birthday. I wished for palm trees and I got a lot of them. Perfect birthday celebration. My hubby knows how to spoil me ♥
By recommendations from friends, we decided to fly to Puerto Plata and then stay at a hotel in Cabarete on the east coast. When we first came to the airport they asked us to pay to enter the country. I’ve never experienced this before, and neither has Jim. So already from the very beginning we understood how poor this country is. And you do notice it a lot and it didn’t feel like the safest place to be. But it’s good to go to places like this too. Not a lot of culture there, but we still got a good sense of the country.
Before we went there I was told to eat at one of the restaurants by the beach, order mojitos and then go out dancing at night. Since we had decided on all inclusive for this short trip, we didn’t feel like spending time and money to walk on the beach to find something safe and good. And we like to get up early in the morning to enjoy the hours of sun so after 8pm when it was dark, we were kinda ready to go to bed haha. I’m sure my friends experience in DR is a lot different since they travel with dominicans who knows where to go. We stayed at the hotel area for most of our trip except for on my birthday when we had a full day of adventures. If we had stayed for a full week or more, I’m sure our experience would have been different. But, I’m very pleased with our trip.

30

I am 30.
When we left NY on Friday last week I was still in my 20s and when we came back last night I’m in my 30s. It feels like I’m in a whole new chapter of my life.

My only wish for my birthday this year was to sit by a palm tree to end the 20s and start my 30s. In my head I had planned to sit right next to a palm all day long. Well, it seems like the universe wanted me to start the big 3 by being active instead of lazy. Before we went to Dominican Republic, we had got recommended to get the waterfall experience, and it happened to be that my birthday was the only day that it was possible for us to do it. So, adventures all day long and it was awesome.

We were kinda busy last weekend and this week went by fast.
Last Friday was Midsummer’s Eve. Jeanette came over around 4 and we met some other Swedish girls in the R. Wagner Park. The festival didn’t start until 5 but there was lots of groups of people there already. Jim joined us after he finished work and then we just walked between places all night. One picnic area with Jeanette and co, another area with Emma, Levy, Carolina and Johanna, the area with the dancing around the maypole, the meatballs and fika lines and back and forth to our apartment to get more stuff to drink and to take Thor out for a walk. Four hours of crazy Swedish people that all looked the same. But it was fun. This was the first time I really stayed there to celebrate and it was nice that I knew people to feel Swedish with.

On Saturday we had errands to do during the day and at night we took uber up to Columbus Circle for Adrian’s birthday party. All the other (younger) party people continued to East Village closer to midnight but J and I went home (we’re an old married couple I guess 🙂 ), which was a perfect decision, cause I was still so so tired on Sunday. Jim and I walked to Tribeca to have lunch and then we somehow managed to get to Christopher St to see the Pride Parade which was just as crazy as previous years.
Right now, Jim and I are ready for vacation. Going to the airport early tomorrow morning. Jeanette is staying in our apartment to take care of Thor, so I think little T will have lots of fun when we are gone.

tb 3EB and Midsummers

I have not seen my husband jump out of bed, get ready and leave so quickly many times before. Britain voting to leave the EU seems like a pretty big deal. That was even one of the topics in the dog park this morning. I was hoping he would have a slow day and come home really early to join me for Midsummer Festival, but who knows.

I have no Midsummer feelings today. Not yet anyway. Every year I say that I have to celebrate midsummer in Sweden the next year. This will be my sixth year in America on the biggest day in Sweden. We have been down at the celebration by Wagner Park every year. Last year I just quickly walked around it before my husband and I went to a Third Eye Blind concert. I haven’t posted pics from that concert before so that’s why I thought I would do it today.
The celebration in Battery Park is bigger and bigger every year and it’s hard to even walk around. Swedish people mixed with tons of tourists and the lines for food is ridiculous, it’s overpriced and not that great (but hey, overpriced food is normal in Sweden, so..). The sun goes down around 9 and people goes to clubs after the festival is over. Not very “Midsummer” to me. But, this year I have two groups of Swedish people to hang out with and everybody seems excited, so I’m gonna do everything I can today to get the Swedish spirit up:)
Like previous years, I’m gonna say that I want to celebrate midsummer in Sweden next year 🙂 As of right now, I don’t even know when my next trip there will be. We have a vacation coming up next week, my parents are coming here in the end of August and we are going to Orlando in the end of September, so I really don’t know when I would even go.
