4 year wedding anniversary

Today is our 4 year wedding anniversary ♡

We celebrated it by going to the jeweler to get our rings engraved. Ya, it took us 4 years to actually get it done:) J’s ring is cobalt chrome so we weren’t sure they could do it but the guy said they do, let’s hope it looks nice.

We also went to an Italian place in the city center that we’ve heard had good food. Finished the evening with a Jim Carrey movie. Pretty easy night.

As a wedding gift to ourselves we are getting new bed sheets. The 4th year is “linnen” and we read it as getting new sheets. We only have one set now (threw away old ones when we moved) and I don’t feel like doing laundry that often:)

Fake pee pants

I bought new “dry-pants” last week, the kind that is supposed to dry quickly when working out. I’ve been looking for more of a jazz type of legging, you know, wider around the ankles, not the slim all the way like normal leggings. I simply just missed wearing those type of pants. And I did find that and bought them and they are so comfy! Really nice material and I could wear them every day all day long:)
I was excited to wear them in yoga class yesterday morning. I knew it would be a sweaty day but I still like to be warm during class and it was so early in the morning that they seemed perfect. The class was wonderful, a teacher I haven’t take class for before, and it was very sweaty in there with the sun coming in through all the windows. Sweaty and muscles well warmed up. I felt absolutely awesome afterwards!
But!! These pants was not dry and it looked like I had peed myself (which I had not of course).  I noticed it in the end of the class and I felt a bit weird about it but didn’t really care, we were all sweaty. But then I had to go home.
I’ve been a dancer my whole life and I never cared about being sweaty or stinky, if I had messy hairdos, ripped clothes or whatever it might be in public around “normal” people. But yesterday I was actually a little embarrassed, cause the other sweaty parts on the pants somehow dried before I left the studio and now it only looked like pee pants:(
Luckily the studio is located not far from my apartment. My original plan was to buy a coffee on the way home, but no way I would stop looking like this. Pretending to write on my phone, holding my yoga mat in the front of my body hoping nobody would notice, I quickly walked home. I changed pants, took Thor for a walk to the coffee shop (right by the yoga studio) and then walked home to find life being awesome again:)

My new comfy nice looking jazz pants is probably better to use on colder days (and not when it’s over 25 degrees outside and even warmer inside). But if i really want to continue to use them on these hot days, then next time, I’ll bring a pair of other pants to walk home in after class:)

Teaching: yoga and stretch class

Last night I had two neighbors coming to the little room at the gym. One woman who came last time couldn’t make it yesterday, but another one did. I was pretty tired right before that, but I arrived 10 minutes early along with my husband and just rolled around on the floor in the weirdest ways I could think of to get myself energized and excited to teach (my husband was on the bike laughing at the sound effects I made with my movements).

The two neighbors showed up ready to just go straight into savasana (corpse pose – the finish pose of yoga) and stay there for 1.5 hour. I made the decision to have them lie down on their backs in x’s to begin. I wanted them to do a few things to cross the mid line to wake up the body, but they mostly just laughed and looked at me like I was crazy for asking them to do that. I don’t think either of them has ever taken a dance class before and they felt uncomfortable. My bad. So, I switched back to what I originally had “planned (I don’t really plan, I just go there with an idea of something to work on). We did some easy yoga and after a little bit, one of them wanted to show what she had learned in a yoga class she took last week, which was a handstand pose (bakasana). So we switched direction in class again. Since I had done plenty of things to open up the body and warm up their backs and shoulders, I thought our bodies was warm enough and prepared for another handstand pose with the help of the wall. After this we did a few stretches before they finally got to relax in savasana.

I don’t know if they feel like they got anything out of last nights “class”. I’m gonna approach it a little bit different the next time. I gave them some freedom to change yesterday, but I now know more what it is that they want and the levels of all three ladies. But the woman who showed up last time has already improved on some things in her body which is awesome to see, so my teaching must have done something good:)

Positive Attitude

“A good day starts with a positive attitude and a great cup of coffee”

Good Morning my friends! How are you today? I woke up happy, took a shower and got dressed. But when I saw the messy kitchen with all the dirty dishes, I got cranky. What should we do when we get in a bad mood for something so small as dishes in the kitchen? Well, I quickly took care of it, took Thor for a nice walk in the sun and then made myself coffee. The day is saved.

You can’t escape the daily things like cleaning, doing laundry, clean the dishes in the sink, taking the garbage out or fold your clothes, or at least you can’t ignore it for too long. It’s part of life and life happens every minute of your day. But instead of putting so much negative thought into that you have to take care of all these boring things: just do it, just take care of it and soon you’ll be done and you can do all the other more fun stuff.

Something I need to work on is just my negative mind. I have to practice to see the positive in things. Instead of thinking “damn, I have to take care of all the dishes, it’s so boring, it takes too much time..” etc. I try to instead think “if I do it now, then I have more time for other stuff later”. Cleaning is something I can enjoy, but dishes…not so much. But I make it into games of trying to compete with myself or I sing songs about what I’m doing to make it more fun. When I fold the clean laundry I usually listen to podcasts. If I don’t feel like taking the dog for a walk, I simple see it as an opportunity for a walking meditation. Today, I saw coffee as my reward:)
