I’m in Sweden

…on a surprise visit. The only one that new about this was my dad:) My friend, who is from the same town as myself, had booked her ticket back from NYC on Friday and since there has been cheaper flights, I booked myself on the same flight. We arrived around noon in Copenhagen yesterday (Saturday) and after a train ride to Sweden, my dad picked us up in Falkenberg, we dropped Jeanette off at home and went to buy pizza. When I came in behind my dad, carrying pizza, I saw a confused and shocked mother. Hahaha, I love surprises! We are on our way to my grandma’s right now when I write this (I will post it slightly later to not ruin the surprise). She, my aunt and her husband, my sister and her boyfriend who is going to my grandma’s as well has no idea that I’m coming. This will be very fun:) The roads has during this morning got covered by snow and it takes a bit longer to get there. I was so happy to miss all the snow in Stamford, but now it’s here too. Can’t escape winter weather i guess.

Good Morning! How are you guys?
This video was supposed to come up on Wednesday but everything this week kinda got pushed a little since I had to deal with getting a new phone and stuff. But now it’s finally done. Yay! I hope you enjoy following us around on Manhattan:)

Our beautiful Christmas tree

I am so so so happy with our Christmas tree ♥

The fluffier tree the better, and that what we have been looking for when we went artificial tree hunting. This one that we bought at Home Depot is fuller, not too tall (it’s 6 feet), has two different types of branches and the right shape. Very pleased!

We have ornaments in silver, glitter, a few baby blue ones and a glitter garland. So classy and cute. We did a good job. We placed it behind the couch by the window because that feels like the best placement. I’m happy with that, but in way it’s too pretty to not be placed like in the middle of the living room or something, haha.

Now we have real Christmas feeling in here. I’m excited for Christmas!

The photos doesn’t do the tree any justice. I wish you could see it in person:)

Fried phone

Right after I had updated the blog yesterday, when I was having a relaxed morning, enjoying my coffee on the couch, my phone decided to go dark in the middle of whatever I was doing on it. Couldn’t turn it back on and the phone was really hot. In the afternoon, we went to the mall and had some phone store take a look at it. It wasn’t the battery, it wasn’t the screen, it wasn’t water damaged or damaged from mistreating it (I take good care of things I own). They told me that it seemed like the phone was fried, overheated. This means that everything on my phone is lost. I could pay a bunch of money to a company and try to get all my data, but I think I have to just accept that my stuff is lost. I probably have 80% or so saved, but I know there is stuff I haven’t backed up and now it’s forever lost. And if things like phone numbers and other stuff isn’t saved on my google account, then I can’t get that info either since my phone won’t start.

If the fried phone and lost things wasn’t enough yesterday, I woke up with a big cold sore on the tip of my nose (I look like Rudolf) and the zipper on my jacket broke. But, our Christmas tree that we put up yesterday is the most beautiful tree I’ve ever seen, so that’s at least one positive thing from yesterday:)

So, I’m searching online today for what phone to buy tonight. Right now I don’t have a phone at all. My old phone doesn’t have a sim card (it’s like built in or something… ya, strange), so I can’t use that one til I find a new one I like. So I have to just pick a phone and be stuck with that one for a few years.

R.I.P my Samsung
(I have never broken a phone, it looks like this now after the guys opened it)

Meditate wherever you are

Picture from our beautiful evening on Friday. Almost full moon
and the sky turned from this blue to more pink. Magical.

Good morning! It’s December and I’m in a Christmas spirit for once. Last year I had no x-mas feeling at all and I can’t say I have had much feeling the past few years, but now when we have a bigger tree to decorate and a place that feels like a real home, I feel more jolly:)

I wanted to check in and see how it’s going with your meditation? Have you sat down both Friday and Saturday to take a moment to clear your mind?
On Friday, I didn’t sit down until right before bedtime. I have an app on my tablet called calm and I selected “5 minutes” for guided meditation. I usually use it more as a timer, which btw is something I can recommend. If you know that you don’t have all the time in the world, then set a timer on your phone. These five minutes that I sat with closed eyes before bedtime, I believe helped me fall asleep easier.
Yesterday, my husband and I spent the day on Manhattan. The train in to the city was a bit late and when we finally got on, it was so much people that we ended up standing in the narrow isle, people could barely pass each other. The ride takes about 50 minutes and when you just stand there not being able to move, then I think it’s an excellent time to take a moment to yourself. So that’s what I did. Closed eyes, focusing on not putting any direct attention to the talking people around me or the sound from the train. It was hard, but that was yesterday’s practice for me. I stood there for quite awhile with my eyes closed until someone got up from their seat next to where we stood and had us all to make way. After that, I felt like I had lots of energy all of a sudden. Doesn’t have to mean that the energy came from “clearing my head”, but it was greatly appreciated:)

What’s your experience so far?
