Glass Beach

Before our trip to Kauai, I searched online for special things not to miss on our vacation. In a way I don’t like to look too much into things, cause I like to find and explore on my own and looking at pictures or hearing peoples stories kinda ruins that a bit. But, I also don’t want to miss something really cool, so I listen to the stories and I do some research:)
One thing that I had read about was the “Glass Beach in Hanapepe“. I saw a few pictures of it and it looked so cool so we went to find it. I had read somewhere that it was located by the Salt Pond Park, but it’s actually more hidden behind an industrial area more east of the Salt Pond. There are no signs to this beach and guide books doesn’t mention it. On the way back from Polihale State Park, I searched around online and eventually found it, typed it in on google maps that guided us to the location.
For some reason I thought it was going to be bigger pieces of glass, but they were tiny. The whole beach is formed by pieces of old glass bottles. It looks like a rocky beach but when you take a closer look at the “sand/rocks” it is clear, green, brown, yellow and blue glass pieces. Very cool to look at up close, less impressive first impression. I’m still very happy that I got to see this.

Good morning and happy Monday! Hope you had an awesome weekend!
We woke up early on Saturday. Jim took Thor to the vet (a normal check up) and when they got back, J and I went to IHOP for breakfast. I’ve never been to an ihop before and that’s why J thought I should go at least once in my life. It’s not a place I would ever go back to. After some grocery shopping, we went home to pick up Thor and we drove down to the southern part of Stamford. It’s just one big construction zone there, but if you walk along the water it’s kinda nice. We walked around the Kosciuszko Park and then back to the car and drove home. Right after, we walked to downtown and saw the movie Annihilation, a pretty interesting movie actually. I loved the music! A pretty relaxed afternoon and evening after that. I did a little bit of yoga in my “studio” upstairs, but it was so hard for me to breathe when upside down that I ended up just stretching instead. I haven’t recovered yet, still coughing and got the sniffles. Sucks big time, but I got energy back at least.
It was raining the whole day yesterday. We read books, went shopping at Walmart, organized in the storage room, watched some tv and read some more.
Plans for this week is to fully recover and go back to work out and take yoga classes.

Have a wonderful week!

A spring day in February

We started to have warmer temperatures last week. On Saturday we all of a sudden out of nowhere got lots of snow. The next day we were back to warm temps again and the snow melted away. Yesterday we had 21 degrees! 21!! I’m still not feeling too awesome so I’m not doing much other than resting at home. Since it was so nice and sunny outside, I took Thor to the park in front of the church next to our building and sat on the grass. So lovely to go out to get some fresh air and not freeze the second you open the door. After awhile I felt that I had a wet butt from sitting on the grass, so we went back inside.
I know this isn’t the beginning of spring, it’s only February and anything can happen, but it was very nice to not having to wear 5 layers of clothes when going outside:)

Good Morning! I’m finally feeling way better than I have been the past 5 days. Got a cough on Thursday and later came the congestion from hell. I’ve been in bed or on the couch with a few breaks outside every day. Not a very fun three day weekend for Jim who btw was the best husband ever and took Thor for walks, ordered food when I was hungry and played relaxing music so I could sleep. I really really hope he doesn’t get this. I haven’t had this bad of a cold since I was a kid, wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Hopefully this is over in a day or two, I’m tired of this now and I’m tired of staying inside.
Today I think I’m just gonna continue to watch Friends, listen to The Greatest Showman soundtrack and rest my body. Nothing exciting, but it is what it is. Have a wonderful day!
