December 13th, Lucia

dec13_lucia-2016Today is Lucia. I have no Christmas feeling. Not even a little. We only have a small tree and just a few Santa figures out, but nothing major. No decorations in the tree either, because we bought one that has shifting lights all over it. We kinda decided not to decorate much this year. We are celebrating Christmas in Chicago anyway.

On Saturday we left Thor with his favorite babysitter and then took the subway up to Grand Central. We bought coffee and went to the train. Then we spent the whole day in Connecticut. It was nice to just hang out with my husband and not worry about Thor. Normally if we go somewhere I constantly think about that we have to be home before he “pees his pants”. But with a babysitter, I can relax:)

nutcracker-brookfield2016Hi guys! So, last night my husband and I went to Brookfield to watch a free performance of The Nutcracker by The New York Theater Ballet and children from Ballet School NY. I’ve never seen The Nutcracker and I actually didn’t even know the story (believe it or not), so I was excited. We came an hour early and it was already full! I can’t say it was the most amazing ballet ever but for being a free performance it was ok. The choreography wasn’t very good and the poor kids didn’t get to dance much, some little girls just sat as statues and not much more. The “Marie” dancer was not very good either, even J said so before I mentioned it. There were a few great dancers though and some costumes were cool. I’m sure kids in the audience loved it.

Today we took the subway up to Grand Central. We wanted to check out the Christmas shops both inside GC and by Bryant Park. Not much interesting there, but it was nice to walk around and try to get some Christmas feeling. Back downtown, J went to the hairdresser and I went to Starbucks. Normally I’m not a Starbucks fan, but I like to order a soy peppermint latte with extra espresso there. Now, we’re just hanging out at home. A pretty relaxed weekend.

Thanksgiving 2016

thanksgiving-2016-4This year we decided to stay at home in NYC for Thanksgiving. We bought a 9 lbs turkey, the smallest we could find in the store. We started cooking right before noon and it took about 3 hours, cause the bird was still a little cold. Jim was responsible for the turkey, cause I think that’s disgusting, and then we helped each other with the rest. The food turned out awesome and I’m very proud of my husband for cooking a great turkey. Thor went crazy by the turkey smell. He knows the word too so he went crazy just by hearing us talk about it, haha.

It felt like a long day yesterday. We started with watching the parade on TV. Jess, who I danced with in The Equus Project, was in it this year so I tried to keep an eye out for her. When J started cooking, I cleaned the whole apartment, and eventually I joined him. After the food, we watched football, played yahtzee and ate pumpkin pie. Right before we were going to start a movie, our neighbor knocked on the door. She wanted to give us some cake she had baked. How sweet! Shortly after that, she came back with paper plates with lots of food. Haha, too cute! She knew we were staying in NYC this year without family, so maybe she thought we needed some food:) So today I have been eating like an elephant.

It’s really pouring down today. Heavy rainfall. Very grey and sleepy day. Thor is passed out on the couch, like every morning, haha cutie. I’m drinking coffee trying to wake up. I baked some gluten and lactose free scones last night that I could enjoy for breakfast, so I feel like the day started off good 🙂

I have posts written for you guys, I just need to choose and edit photos and then the posts will be up soon. Today is a perfect day for computer stuff. I feel a bit tight in my body too and I’ve had a cold for a while, so today I’m gonna try to open my body with some nice yoga poses. Thor is always extra sleepy on grey days and he doesn’t really like rain, so we can both have a day inside today.

I love this little guy ♥

I walked outside and everybody I met looked tired. We are all tired. It was a long night. Today is a weird day. Trump will be our new President.
Facebook is overflowing with my friends/people I know who are deeply upset and sad today. Most of them don’t live in America, but the whole world has been watching this. People seem shocked though. We all knew it would be either Trump or Clinton, so I don’t know how they can be surprised. I don’t think it would have mattered much which one it would have been, America would not turn out awesome either way, it just happened to be the big baby clown that won.
But I do have to congratulate Trump. Books, podcasts, videos and speakers are telling us that we can achieve all our dreams if we just believe in them and work hard, and well, Donald wanted to be a business man, appear on tv and become President. He has succeeded on more things in his life than a lot of us. Good for him. Now we can only hope that he gets nothing done and then someone else can get elected.
I don’t know enough to speak out loud about all this and I was not allowed to vote. I just hope that it won’t be too bad.
