In one month

It’s less than a month until we move to our new apartment! Aah! I don’t wanna wait any longer, I want to start our new lives up there now. But at the same time I really don’t feel ready to leave all this. It kinda changes every five minutes how I feel about it. And spending time with Jeanette the other day, who is the most positive person I know and who is someone who absolutely love this city, it got even harder for me to wanting to leave and move out to the suburbs. But I keep telling myself “change is always good”

I have been wanting to start packing for weeks already, but my husband keeps saying no. He has a point. We still live here and we don’t wanna live in a mess for weeks, but I’m just waiting and waiting now and we all know that in the end it will be stressful no matter what. At least I have time now to go through things and throw away stuff we don’t need. Over the years of being married we have collected way too much stuff. I watched the documentary “Minimalism” a month ago and after that I could easily just throw away all of our things. But we are moving to a bigger place, so we actually need more, hahaha. Oh well 🙂

Riverside Park

NYC has been waaaaayyyy too cold the past week. We went from +18 degrees to a snowstorm over night a week ago. Crazy!! This week has been around 0°c (32°f) and windy. I don’t hate a lot of things, cause I think “hate” is a strong word, but I really really hate cold weather. Earlier this week, I felt like I was going to die every time I went outside. With two pair of pants and three layers underneath my jacket, I still felt like life was ending.

The weather was a bit nicer yesterday though and is going to be even better this weekend. My friend Jeanette is back in NYC so I went up to Upper West Side to meet her and we went for a long walk in Riverside Park. It was cold, but such a beautiful day. We spent a few hours together catching up on the last 6 months and then I went home to the puppy. Hubby went to a hockey game so I had some red wine and watched Alice through the looking glass.

NYC Apple from Pandora

Happy, one day late, Valentine’s Day! Hope you had an awesome day filled with ♥love♥ yesterday. Most of my day was absolute crap. Literally. I had to give my little, over-fluffed baby several butt baths. It’s so nasty. And I was kinda tired too yesterday so everything bad that happened turned into a crying session. We all have these days when nothing is right, and crying helps to release tension. Eventually, after a workout and when the sun finally showed up, I turned the day around.

At night, I met my husband at the new Westfield Mall by World Trade Center. He wanted me to pick a Valentine’s gift at Pandora. I have a bracelet with two pandora charms that I got from my mother-in-law. One ballerina and one camera. Since we are soon about to leave New York, my hubby wanted me to have a NYC charm but I had to pick it out myself. I chose the silver apple with gold top with “NYC” letters.

I love this bracelet because it has charms that means something to me. Dance, photography and the city where I met the love of my life. I bought a Mickey Mouse charm for like $10 at Disney World when we were there which I think is super cute next to the other pandora charms.

Lady Liberty, Ellis, Oculus and protesters

Hi! How are you? My husband is working from today. He has been working from home 1-2 days/week since he got his new job. It’s just for now, but I like it:)

We had a fun weekend. We went to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on Saturday which was fun. On Sunday we walked around in the new mall, Westfield, inside what I like to call the dinosaur, The Oculus building. It’s very white and clean in there.
And, good thing we didn’t go to the islands on Sunday. The protesters against the immigration ban was down here by us. We took Thor for a walk just to see it quick. T didn’t like it at all so we didn’t stay for very long. You couldn’t hear anything they were screaming out or chanted together anyway. People kept coming and there were thousands of people in this little park area right where the boats to the islands go.

This week is going by pretty quick. And what happened to January? It just disappeared and now it’s February. I don’t like the winter so I usually don’t mind if these months go by fast, but this year I kinda want it to go slower. I’m not ready to move away from New York yet and it’s getting closer.

Foggy Battery Park

This morning I went to buy myself a cup of coffee and went for a little walk behind our apartment. My husband and puppy was still sleeping and I wanted to enjoy some time with nature alone. It was so foggy that you couldn’t see much. Freedom Tower, New Jersey, Statue of Liberty and plenty of other buildings had disappeared. It was so quiet and peaceful out there by the water. A few runners, some squirrels and only the sound of the calm water.
I’m gonna miss living so close to water. It’s not far to the ocean from our new apartment, but unless I want to go for a really long walk I would have to bike or drive there. That was the only minus with the apartment we picked. We had other apartments in mind close by the ocean but none of them was nearly as awesome as the one we are moving to. I’m excited to buy myself a bike and take Thor for a ride to the beach 🙂
