Walking in Central Park

central-park-feb28-2017_01

Yesterday morning when I took Thor out, I saw some Daffodils blooming and thought to myself that I wanted to go to Central Park this week. I was texting with Jeanette around lunch and since we both were free we decided to hang out. So 30 minutes later I was on a subway up to Upper West Side to meet her. We walked around in Central Park above 72nd for three hours. We talked about everything and nothing while we enjoyed the nature. This was exactly what I needed yesterday and she must have read my mind that I wanted to go to CP. It was kinda a grey day but it was still wonderful to walk in the park. Not many daffodils though, but some other flowers were about to bloom. The air is different there and in some areas in the park you don’t hear the traffic too much.

At night, Jim and I just drank some tea and did absolutely nothing. J had been feeling kinda crappy for two days and wanted to relax. Normally we would do our separate things, go out to eat or watch something on tv together, or like on Monday we watched the movie Arrival. But last night we just hung out on the couch sipping tea which was awesome. I asked him how he feels about moving, and he just answered that he’s ready to move. Apparently I’m the only one freaking out about it from time to time 😀

morning after the Oscars

thor-coffee-jan2017Good morning!

What an ending at the Oscars! The Academy Awards seems so serious, even with a funny host and funny moments, so a mess up like that is just awesome. Well, not for La La Land of course, but shocking moments like those are for some reason fun to watch because it feels more real. Congratulations to Moonlight.

Justin Timberlake’s opening was really awesome too! I loved it! A perfect way to start, cause it gets the audience, nervous celebs and the viewers at home to lighten up before it all begins. Dance dance dance, it makes everybody happy:)

And congratulations to Swedish Linus Sandgren for Best Cinematography!

I’m tired today. The oscars finished an hour later than supposed to, as always, and I feel like I haven’t slept at all. But, I have a lot of things I want to do today, so I better get started:) I wish you an awesome week!

LION

Like every year, I’m excited about The Academy Awards tonight. I haven’t seen a lot of the movies that is being nominated, but it’s still fun to watch it. It wasn’t until I moved to NYC that I watched the oscars, and that’s only because of time difference, I couldn’t stay up all night long since I had school or work the next morning.

Awhile ago I took my husband to see the movie Moonlight, and that one is apparently up for several oscars. Yesterday we went to see the movie LION, which is up for a bunch of oscars as well. What a beautiful movie! The little boy, who btw had never seen a movie before he saw his own, is just amazing. Dev Patel’s part is a bit too long and a little boring but I guess they needed to make it long for him and Nicole Kidman to be up for nominations. The only one in that movie who deserves an Oscar is the little 8 year old Sunny Pawar, but he won’t get one.

Apparently a Swedish movie has two nominations, for Foreign Movie and Makeup. It’s fun that a small country like mine gets nominations. Last year The 100 Year Old Man got nominated, this year it’s A Man Called Ove. And of course Sweden is extra proud of Alicia Vikander who won Best Supporting Actress last year:)
I would be very disappointed if La La Land wins everything tonight just like on the Golden Globes. I haven’t watched it, so I shouldn’t actually say anything, but the little singing I’ve seen and heard is just absolutely terrible. There seems to be a lot better options of winners for all their nominations. Excited to see how it turns out.

Construction city

thor-bpc-nyc-feb-2017

Walking along the river when I take Thor out is what I’m gonna miss the most by living here. It’s so peaceful and beautiful.

But, Battery Park City is just a big construction site right now. The worst is that they are building a new bridge right by the dog park so people don’t take their dogs there much anymore and you have to walk around all of it to cross the highway to get to the subways. This is supposed to be done next year! And for months, we’ve had buildings around us with ugly scaffolding all around them. It’s good for when it’s raining and you still need to take the dogs out, but people seem to not care to pick up after their dogs when these are up so it’s nasty there, and I notice on Thor that he doesn’t really know where to pee anymore. When the buildings by the water needs scaffolding, they build it on the sidewalk, aka the park, starting over 10 feet away from the building which makes the view not the greatest. By the boats they have more constructions going on, the ice rink is really ugly to look at and further north the different park sites are surrounded by wood walls and machines. The restaurants with outdoor seating that we have along the water is now all covered too which can’t be that good for their businesses when it’s warm and sunny.

I’ve been sad about leaving this place because of the park, the river and the fact that we know everybody here (or, Thor does). Workers, machines, noises and poop makes it easier for me to be excited to move. Even if Stamford would have equally much construction going on, I don’t care, cause it will be a new place for us to explore.

Bus trip to Staten Island

car-searching_01 car-searching_02 bus-view-feb18-2017

Yesterday, we took the bus to Staten Island. I’ve been out there once before with my parents in August, but we took the boat over. The bus ride was pretty quick. On they way there it was packed, but on the way back it was pretty empty in the bus and we could enjoy some Manhattan view:)
When we move we will be in need of a car, so we have been doing research on cars for the past few months. Since it’s President’s Day weekend, we figured car dealers would have some nice prices. So J has been on the phone with dealers all week. One place promised him a specific price including everything and for that reason we thought it would be worth going all the way out to Staten Island. Did they offer that price when we got there? No. Of course not.
J has been visiting car dealers now for the past hours. He’s on his way home so soon I’m gonna get all the updates. I’ve never had a car before, because I never needed one, so this is all very exciting to me 😀
