the end of April

yoga-offie-april2017Been doing yoga in my office space this week. This pic is from this morning.

Omg, I haven’t blogged since Easter. To be honest, not much has happened. The weather kinda sucks and I haven’t felt like doing much. We have been out for dinners a few times, been shopping for more crap and that’s about it.
The apartment is coming together though. It’s taking longer time than I thought. We don’t wanna buy a bunch of stuff just to fill up space, but we still want to make it a home. We finally found a coffee table for our living room and our new nightstands was delivered yesterday. Yay! It’s mostly just clutter and putting up picture frames left now. Things needs to find their place and I want to make it easy for us to be able to use them. My office upstairs and the yoga/meditation/pilates/dance room (I think I need a name for that room…) is almost finished and so is the living room, so that’s awesome.
I see that the sun is finally showing up now, so I’m gonna take Thor for a walk and then put the nightstands together. Have an awesome Friday!

Our Easter

easter-thor-2017

Happy Easter! We have had a wonderful weekend. Today we’ve had 27°c (80°f) degrees outside! I love it!!

Our Friday was kinda slow. We finished putting our patio furniture together that we had bought the day before. We skyped with my parents and showed them around our new place before we went shopping at the mall. In the in the evening we dressed up a bit and walked to a sushi restaurant. So much food! It was awesome and I wouldn’t mind going back there..but I would order less food next time:)

On Saturday, we decided to drive back to IKEA. Bought pillows, more mirrors, decoration things and picture frames. I also got a bookcase for my office and a new desk chair, which I didn’t need but it looked very nice and feels awesome to sit in. Jim is a little jealous I think:) We were pretty tired for the rest of the day. After putting together the new stuff, we ordered pizza and watched hockey.

Today we woke up at 8am, got ready and left the apartment a half hour later. We drove for about ten minutes and then enjoyed an 1.5 hour hike. Since we knew that today would be a hot day, we wanted to hike early in the morning for Thor’s sake. We chose a shorter trail just because we didn’t know how T would be. This was the first time that T got to walk around in a forest. He did so well, I’m proud of him. It was so quiet there. We walked past a few people, but for the most part we were alone and we only heard birds in the trees and the sound of our own footsteps. We are looking forward to walk there when the trees are green:)
Back home, we made coffee and brought it up on our terrace. It had already got pretty hot by then. So nice! Around noon, we went to the Home Depot to buy some plants, pots and potting mix. I was so excited in the car on the way home, I wanted to plant stuff right away. But it was too windy on the terrace then. Everything was blowing around and the dirt would have ended up everywhere else except in the pots, I have to do it another day. So, we just sat there and enjoyed the sun. We have been fixing things in the apartment for a little while and now we enjoyed a nice chicken dinner. Pretty nice Easter weekend! I hope you had an awesome weekend as well!

Pink Moon Night

pinkmoon-april11-2017

Last night, I sat on the couch watching the “Girls” tv-show. Outside the window I saw the full moon light up the dark night. I watched the moon the night before as well. There is something special with a bright full moon. When the clouds shifted around the moon it looked like different paintings. I felt like I wanted to draw it but then it quickly changed into another painting to draw. So both on Monday night and yesterday I tried to take pictures of it. Last night I changed to the bigger lens I have that can zoom in a lot and get close to the moon. It was a Pink Moon night and I wanted to see if it actually was pink, which it wasn’t, it was orange.
My dreams change a lot depending on the moon I’ve noticed. When it’s about to become a full moon I always have strange dreams or nightmares. Feels almost like a cleans actually. Maybe my dreamworld needs to get shit out so it can start fresh when the full moon arrives and after that I can get creative. I am a Cancer which is ruled by the moon. What that means, I don’t really know but I would actually like to learn more about it. Everything I read about the zodiac sign Cancer doesn’t fit me of course, but a lot does and I feel that the moon has an affect on me somehow.

We are finally having nice warm days! Yesterday we had closer to 20 degrees and today is gonna be above. Woohoo! And apparently its Easter this weekend, so my husband has Friday off. Hopefully the weather stays this nice then. Maybe I should decorate with the few Easter things I have..?
Yesterday, Thor and I sat on our terrace for a while in the afternoon. It’s so awesome to have our own outdoor space! We kinda decided on a patio set that we saw in a store two weeks ago but then yesterday, of course, we found out that it was out of stock. So, after I’m done writing here I’m gonna search online to see if I find any good Easter deals on other dining sets.
I hope you’ll have a wonderful Tuesday!

Lots of shopping

morning-march24-2017

I’ve been busy here in the new apartment. I wanted to get rid of boxes as soon as possible so I have been putting everything in piles in the room they belong. The boxes we have left are all under the stairs right now. It’s Jim’s computer stuff and he doesn’t have a desk yet.

We have been enjoying the “suburb” life. On our first day, we went grocery shopping, not much, just few breakfast things. I really felt like I walked in to the real American life. Living in New York is definitely not giving you the feeling that you are living in America. Everybody speaks different languages, you eat out at restaurants and bars from all over the world all the time and grocery stores are crappy and expensive. We went back to the same grocery store few days later and bought everything we needed. Shopping with a cart made us feel like grownups 🙂 The amount of stuff we got would have cost us the double in NYC. I also find a lot of organic and raw products here and everything is fresh! I’ve been feeling like a little kid on Christmas. Super excited about food:)

On Saturday, we went to Ikea in New Haven, an hour north of our apartment. I love car trips! We found what we came there for, but two things we wanted to pick up in the end of the store was out of stock. So we decided to not bring any furniture home at all and order it online. Back home we saw that the shipping cost was way higher than we had first thought. So, Jim ordered a desk from some other place online and we have to find the other things we needed somewhere else. But we have some new things for our bigger kitchen, a new dresser, towels and of course I bought Swedish food and candy. Mostly candy:) They only had one kind of salty licorice and everything in the “pick-your-own” candy boxes was old and hard like rocks, but, it’s still candy, I like it. And they had my favorite cheese!!

Sunday is the worst day to go shopping, but we ended up going to Costco then anyway. I have never ever heard of that you need a membership card to go shopping in a store. I thought Jim was joking first time he told me a month ago. You can’t shop there if you don’t have a card. It’s a huge store with everything. Jim bought wireless speakers and we bought lots of meat and coffee. Everything there comes in huge family packs and we don’t need a billion onions or five thousand shampoo bottles plus we bought everything we needed in our grocery store few days before.

Yesterday we went to Home Depot and got a carpet for our storage room, aka my dance/yoga room. It has been hard to find a rug or carpet in the size we want. This one is slightly too small but we also bought a bookcase to cover some of the space and for the rest I don’t care so much about. I think the room will turn out awesome after I have decorated in there:)

Wow, that was a long update about shopping, haha. And we haven’t even bought everything we need. We still need a sleeper sofa, bar stools, patio furniture and something for all of our shoes in the walk-in-closet. We are spending lots of money now, but we want to make this a home. The apartment is almost twice the size as our old one so of course we need more things. I will show you the apartment when we are getting closer to done.
