Relaxi weekend

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband Jim!

We have J’s dad and his wife here over the weekend. They came here on Thursday, so that’s why it’s been a bit quiet here. We are having a good time. Very relaxed. We mix hikes with just hanging out and eating good food. Tonight we are going out to a nice restaurant that J and I have been to before through his work. Probably not gonna do much special before that today. J is working from home right now and we are drinking coffee. Can’t been more relaxed than that:)

Eclipse

Good morning! Thor and I just came back home from a super duper sweaty walk to the coffee shop in the city center. I’m wearing a t-shirt and shorts and when we came home I looked like I had been in a hot tub for a few hours. I don’t mind it though, I’m rather sweaty than cold:)

Yesterday, I was at the gym for an hour working out, mostly ballet leg stuff and pilates with light weights. The motivation was on high and I could have stayed there way longer to push myself. But I suddenly remember the solar eclipse. I saw lots of people were standing out on the side walk. I quickly grabbed my things and went upstairs, took a shower, created myself a cereal box that they recommended (cause I didn’t have any special glasses, and I wanted to see if that box actually worked) and went out on the terrace. Right after the total eclipse, it was pretty cloudy outside and the box was of no use. But I did look up for one second and saw it. The clouds actually made it easier. I grabbed my phone and directed the focus and light to be able to snap some pics. Over the years, I’ve trained myself at taking pictures when barely looking or to take them really quickly, so I actually got a few good ones with both my phone and my canon without having to look into the sun for more than a few sec in total. And I noticed now that the pics I took of the sun in the reflection of the glass table before that shows the beginning of it. So, I guess I saw the whole thing 🙂

At night, I met the same two neighbors as last week and I guided them through pilates and then stretch. They got good challenges and nice hip openers. It was very nice. We are also getting to know each other on a deeper level (we do the meditation together as well). We all have very different backgrounds and we are in different ages so it’s nice to listen to each others stories while in a stretch.

Monday coffee in the sun

Good Morning Monday! I have a good feeling about this week!

How was your weekend? We have not done much at all, I actually didn’t feel like doing much other than hanging out on our terrace. It’s awesome to have our own outdoor space and the weather was amazing here all weekend long. 30ºc, sunny and really humid. A very sweaty weekend and I loved it. We went to the gym on Saturday and yesterday we went for a bike ride (to buy a pump for our tires), so we were at least a little active this weekend:)

The weather is still good today which is great for today’s eclipse. Just remember, watch it in a safe way and keep your pets inside! J and his boss is going out on the boat to watch the eclipse. They asked if I wanted to join, but I think my hubby could need some guy time;) I want to work out, get some other work done and enjoy the outside while it’s still summer.

4 year wedding anniversary

Today is our 4 year wedding anniversary ♡

We celebrated it by going to the jeweler to get our rings engraved. Ya, it took us 4 years to actually get it done:) J’s ring is cobalt chrome so we weren’t sure they could do it but the guy said they do, let’s hope it looks nice.

We also went to an Italian place in the city center that we’ve heard had good food. Finished the evening with a Jim Carrey movie. Pretty easy night.

As a wedding gift to ourselves we are getting new bed sheets. The 4th year is “linnen” and we read it as getting new sheets. We only have one set now (threw away old ones when we moved) and I don’t feel like doing laundry that often:)

A week with parents

My parents went back to Sweden late last night. We’ve had a wonderful week together. We’ve been to a concert, spent a day on Manhattan, been eating burgers, went to Playland, drove around looking at huge houses, played with Thor and hung out in the sun. Pretty great week!

I don’t see my family that often so it’s nice to spend this much time together. They stayed in the guest room in our apartment so we’ve really spent every day from morning to night together. I tried to be a good host by serving them breakfast every morning, made sure they had everything they needed, that they got to experience new things, see exciting new stuff and in general tried to make them feel at home in our apartment. Hopefully I did a good job:)

No idea when I will be able to see them again, but I feel like we got a good dose of family time.
