glued

I have nothing other than pictures of Thor to show you (my phone is full, he is too damn cute!),
so here’s my breakfast. Same today as yesterday:)

Hello! Hope you are having a great day! It was raining this morning but now it’s sunny and warm, yay!

Went to the orthodontics this morning. A very different experience. When you come in to the place it looks very new and like a normal dental place. I first had to go in to a room where this young orthodontist guy took a look at my teeth. Then they asked me to go to the main room with several chairs (weird). I sat down, a woman glued my retainer back in place (no paper bib that you always get at a dentist, just the orange glasses, and they did everything standing up next to my chair). When she was done she walked over to the chair next to me that now had a teenage guy in it, and his girlfriend sat on a chair next to my feet. The orthodontist guy came back and fixed the last bit and then I was done.
I have never experienced that you can be in the same room as others in that way before. My last dentist appointment in Sweden had two chairs with all the equipment stuff around it in the same room but they were further apart and you could not really see each other. Here it was just chairs lined up, no equipment like the lamp, suction wires etc. you know, just a small table with a few things on it. Strange isn’t it? And this was an orthodontic that my dentist recommended.
Whatever. I got it done. This is like the 8th time or something I had the same thing fixed. I’ve spent so much money on this crap over the years. And everyone is always surprised about that I had braces in such young age, that they hadn’t removed my wisdom teeth in Sweden and the placement of my retainers is upside down. Wtf? But it is what it is. And apparently I can’t remove it cause then my teeth might move. Oh well..

Today I also book myself something really exciting and nerve-wracking for my birthday on Monday. AAAHH! Our neighbor has agreed to watch Thor, so I will spend the whole day in the NYC I think. I have already paid so I have to go do this now, iiihh it will be fun!:)

Get sh*t done

Thor and I yesterday

Getting things done this week. This morning I had an appointment to x-ray my knees. I was done 4 minutes after my scheduled appt, I appreciate that:) Tomorrow I’m going to get my vitamin level tested or something, I don’t even know, it’s just some normal routine check that my doctor who looked at my knees told me I have to do. Jim did it a year or two ago. I just called the orthodontics office and made an appointment for Thursday to get my retainer fixed, cause apparently one part on my upper teeth is loose (my dentist told me to go get it fixed almost a year ago and I haven’t been yet,..oops).
Today we are getting our car back from having it repaired from Jim’s accident (we were supposed to get it back weeks ago but it was more damaged than we thought). At some point this week I have to go and get a beach pass for the car as well. In Stamford you need a parking pass for all public beaches, which seems stupid but whatever. I’m also waiting for our building to do some yearly inspection of the apartment today or tomorrow. Since I don’t want Thor to freak out too much or run away or something when they come, I want to be with him, so I have been waiting all day for nothing. The test tomorrow might be quick, but I read that they have long waiting even when you have an appointment. So, we’ll see, Thor might have to be alone for awhile.

It’s not much, but it feels good to get sh*t done the week before I start a new year. Iiiihhh, it’s my birthday on Monday! (have I mentioned that I love birthdays 😉 ) We haven’t made any plans this weekend to celebrate, but I have something I want to do on Monday. Just need a dog sitter and a bit of courage:)

Update: Doctor just called me about my knees. There’s no real issue there. There seems to be something small in one knee and if I have pain I can eat a bunch of painkillers for a week (I hate pills, so…no). I tried to ask him more questions but he wanted to hang up. So we’ll see what happens next. But, that’s good news that there is no real problems. Yay!

We found a new path to one of the parks near us
Thor is very handsome in his new haircut ♥

Sweaty morning workout

Hi! Hope you’re doing good! I have had a pretty nice morning. I took Thor out, gave him breakfast, ate a banana and went to the gym while my hubby was getting ready for work. T and I walked by the gym around 6:45 and it was packed, like every machine was occupied. But when I showed up at 7:20 there was a girl in there for the first 4 minutes and then I was completely alone for an hour. A short warmup, 20 minutes elliptical, 20 min using weight machines and then finish with a little bit of abs work. I was so sweaty! It’s rare that I get sweaty, especially in the gym. When I dance I can get sweaty because I push myself harder and set high goals for myself, but in the gym, not much. But today I was Sweaty Betty and I loved every second of it.

The new x-ray machines at the radiology place has arrived but they couldn’t schedule me until next Tuesday, so I still don’t know anything about my knees. But as long as I keep moving my body it feels ok. And to be clear, my knees aren’t worse than they have been before. My husband apparently thought so because I have mentioned them more I guess, because I also had a tight muscle that was bothering me this time, but it’s been on and off for like 10 years. Some days it’s harder to walk in stairs, and some days I can do everything a body could be capable of:) It’s just good to check if there are things going on in there.

Virtual Reality

Jim and I walked over to the mall yesterday to try Virtual Reality at The Holodeck Center for the first time. We both signed up for 10 minutes each but got to play longer than that. I kept dying at level 6 and on my very last round I got up to level 17 or something and then the guy interrupted me in the middle of it. I guess it took me awhile to figure out all the details. It’s very loud in there and I’m kinda deaf without sounds in the background, so I barely heard the instructions the guy gave me. It was fun though! But to play longer than my 20 min I think my brain would go crazy. Jim wanted us to start with an hour each and some kids were there for a very long time, but I don’t know if anyone actually should. You can go crazy just by playing normal video games and you do get a headache after these 20 minutes.

It was fun and I would probably do it again. Now I know how this game works, so if I go back and play it again I might be extremely awesome;)

Below is a short clip of me in action:)

Plans for the summer?

One thing that’s on my list for this summer is to have many coffees on the beach. The beaches here in Connecticut aren’t very special, but as long as I can be near water it doesn’t matter. I just love sipping coffee while listening to the ocean. Taking the train in to Manhattan is also on my list so coffee by Hudson River, perhaps on my favorite spot in Battery Park next to our old apartment, is an absolute must.
What plans or wishes do you have for this summer? Do you have a summer bucket list like many others do? Coffee on the beach is on mine. Taking Thor for bike rides would be nice too. We are going to Nashville in end of July which will be fun and I would also love to go camping (or glamping). We want to explore CT and NY more, there are many places around here that is supposed to be beautiful. Other than that we don’t have much on our lists that we have been talking about. I love birthdays and I always want to do something fun on my own b-day, but I have nothing planned for this year other than taking care of my neighbors cat. I have to come up with something. Suggestions?
