Visitors from Chicago

This weekend we had Jim’s mom and stepdad here. Wayne and their dog Rizzo drove from Chicago on Wednesday, stayed in NJ til Friday and picked Sandy up at the airport on Friday afternoon. We went out to eat at Tigin and sat outside since we had the dog with us (Thor was at home). We hung out in the lobby for a little bit after that (T and Rizzo are not really friends so it was just better to play pool and watch baseball downstairs).

On Saturday morning, Jim and I drove to their hotel in Norwalk for breakfast buffet, yum! After a tour of Greenwich and all the mansions out here, we went back to our place. The dogs were still not friends, so we figured out different things to make it work. Watched college football in the community area downstairs, and went for a walk around the neighborhood with just Thor. At night we came up with a way to trick the dogs. I came back to the apartment and then took T out while Jim, Wayne and their dog got to the apartment and then went upstairs to our terrace (it wasn’t too cold so they had a good time). When T and I came back inside, Jim’s mom and I hung out with Thor in our living room and the dogs had no idea about each other:)

On Sunday morning, W and the dog left their hotel early to drive back to home. We picked S up, went to buy coffee and brought her back to our place. We had a whole day with Jim’s mom. Went to BV’s for appetizers and the Bears game (oh my, they suck! They blew it in overtime), and then just relaxed at home for the rest of the day. Jim’s mom stayed overnight and took an uber to the airport this morning.

People love to come visit us during the fall which is very fun. Last year we had our friends Bob and Sarah, my parents and Jim’s dad and his wife here. This year it was J’s dad, then my sister and her guy and now J’s mom and stepdad. Fall is our busy season every year, haha.

First weekend of October

Hello and Good Morning! Hope you had an awesome weekend! Ours has been pretty relaxed. Since we both have been sick it felt good to not run around doing a bunch of stuff.

On Thursday, our building had a Meet & Greet party down in the common kitchen area. We have new owners and they wanted us all to meet them. We stopped by to enjoy some drinks and food. Not really any neighbors there, just the regular old people who always shows up and then a bunch of the new owner people there.

When J came home from work on Friday, we brought Thor to a bar with outdoor seating and sat there for awhile. Better enjoy the good temperatures when we can:) An hour later, we left T at home and then went back out to another bar to eat dinner. A neighbor invited us for a board game night but since we both still didn’t feel too awesome we skipped it.

Saturday started with coffee as always. After doing some errands, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings to have lunch/dinner. I have never eaten there before, their fried cheese was amazing (but oh so unhealthy!). In the evening, I tried to draw with charcoal for the very first time. I made something very simple. It’s not as easy as it seams. Using a charcoal pencil is probably a way better option, but I had these crayon kinds and it was very messy. We watched a movie, The Informant, and then I drew a little bit more before bedtime. I love drawing or painting but these days I have no idea what to make. When I was a kid it was easier.

Sunday was a slow day. Drank coffee, watched hgtv, did some stuff on my computer and woops, it was 3pm. The weather was all of a sudden really amazing. 25+ degrees (felt like 30 because of the humidity) and sunny. Like summer! So J and I drove to Donut Delight to have coffee. We sat outside their shop for awhile, in shorts and t-shirts! In the evening, we fed Thor and then went for a 20 minute walk over to our friends house. I had put jeans on because I figured it would be cold when going home, and oh man, so sweaty. Felt like we were in Florida. It’s October and jeans and a t-shirt is too hot, LOVE!
Our friends, Daniella and Gareth, had made this awesome Mexican chili. They know how to cook so I didn’t expect other than a fantastic dinner. A chili that has been cooking for 8 hours can’t be bad:) We had such a great time. Closer to midnight we realized how late it was and that we had to go home to Thor. I’m actually kinda tired today, haha.

I’m a teenager again

In about thirty minutes or so, Jim is supposed to come home from work and we will take the train in to Manhattan. We are going to Radio City Music Hall for a Christina Aguilera concert! Yes, you read it right. I am so excited! I was a X-tina fan when I was younger. I didn’t care too much about her music, I just love her voice!

In High School, I think it must have been my first year, so 2003 maybe, I gave my sister a concert ticket to Christina Aguilera in Stockholm. My best friend and Denice’s best friend (who were sisters) loved X-tina as well, so we decided to all go. Non of us had been to Stockholm before (except with parents when we were kids), so it was a big and exciting trip.

My dad had told me before that you might not be allowed to bring a camera in at the event, so I left it in the car (my friends older boyfriend drove us and we stayed in his sisters apartment). Everyone had cameras of course and I was so sad and disappointed. At one point I left the others and somehow ended up by the stage. If I had been taller, I would have been able to touch her (sounds creepy, but she shook hands with the audience and I was too small). I could have gotten the best photos. So sad. Oh well. The memory is still pretty awesome. I remember her dancers being really awesome too.

I’m like a teenager again. Wohoo! I am really excited!!

Ok, gotta run!

They are almost here

My sister and her guy are currently sitting in a taxi on their way here from jfk. Woohoo! It’s quite a lot of traffic it seems like and it has been raining ALL day, so they will get here pretty late. In like 20 minutes, we will order some pizza cause I know they are hungry and so am I. The guest room is ready, they apartment is clean and they are more than welcome to stay here for a week. Just too bad that the weather decided to go from +33°c and sunny to 16 degrees (!!) and rain, possibly even hurricane on the way this week. But we will have an awesome time together.

And we are back in business

Hi and welcome back to my website

I am sorry for the past week. We (= Jim) started the transfer of my website to a new host last Wednesday. They said it would take two days. I thought that during this time my website would still be up so I wrote a little message to you guys. But it took a little longer and the website went down completely. And apparently they don’t work on weekends and this was a three day weekend. So, it’s been down til last night. Very sorry for that.

We had an awesome weekend though. Jim’s dad was here from Thursday til Sunday (it was J’s birthday the 28th). Very relaxed weekend watching sports, eating good food and hung out together. Thor really loves him and slept upstairs with him all three nights:)
On Monday we drove to the beach in the morning. Low tide, so you had to walk and walk and still had the water up til the knees, so no swim in the ocean really, but it was 30 degrees and sunny, yay. We had a nice morning. And then I skyped with my sister for a while. She’s coming here on Monday!! Went to the gym, I sent my vote to the Swedish election (I hope it will get there in time), sat on the terrace and then watched a movie.

My video from our camping trip was ready to be published last Wednesday, but since I like to post it here on the blog at the same time I upload it to YouTube, I thought I could wait. So, it will be up later today 🙂

Hahah. I stayed longer at the gym and J took T out. He saw me and wanted to join:)
It’s important to vote if you can!
It didn’t matter to me what to vote for, as long as votes come in.  I’m against the SD party
and if I can vote for something other than them or have a blank vote, then that is more important!
I hope I can watch the election on Sunday, Sept 9
