Our weekend

April 1, 2019

Hello April! It’s been so warm in our bedroom at night so it was hard to stay asleep. So I was dead this morning. But after I finished my coffee, I was ready to take on this day…starting with some bits from our weekend:)

On Saturday we finally had one day of spring again. After breakfast, J and I walked over to the Athletic Club. I hung out in the dance studio. J wanted to play basketball but kids had some class there so I think he was a bit disappointed, but I had a great time:)
Since the weather was so nice, we decided to take Thor for a long walk. There is a bar with outdoor seating that we’ve taken him before. We ordered sweet potato fries and some grilled chicken for lunch.

And then we decided to walk to a newer apartment building by the big park. T was over excited and nervous that we were gonna leave him, a bit annoying but its good to bring him along for things. We looked at one apartment and all the amenity things. They had a dance studio with a ballet barre and their rooftop had view over the water and you could even see the Manhattan skyline. We are not moving probably, but in case the building we live in now gives a ridiculous price once our lease is up then it’s good to have seen some options.
We saw that they have built a dog park in the big park across the street so we took T there quick before going home. We dropped the tired pup off at home, grabbed some drinks and went upstairs to the rooftop. Lovely weather, 17°c! I noticed yesterday that I had burnt my face. And then it was March Madness all night.

Yesterday was a pretty boring day weather wise. Colder again and rainy (and today is freezing, brrr). We decided to go check out the workout center nearby that the Athletic club suggested to sign up for now when they are closing. My friend works there so I saw her face on the wall:) We got a free try to check out the facility. Jim lifted weights and I spent my time in their dance studio. They also had a ballet barre♥ We only spent like an hour there, and then we drove to Burger King for lunch, haha. They keep advertising $0.50 coffee so I wanted to try it. Not very good though. And then we did nothing. Watched basketball. At night I suddenly was super motivated to plan out my month (read the last post) and then we went to bed.

preparing for April

March 31, 2019

Hellu! How are you this evening? I feel super pepp about…everything. Really. I have three books (all pink actually haha) that I write down things for each month and for each season. One regular calendar cause I still use one of those and always will. One is a smaller book where I have drawn the month and I write things to accomplish or important things that needs to be done or just fun things that I would like to try for that month (my new goals for the year that I wrote about HERE is written down there too). In a larger one I write the exact same thing as the smaller one but in a more clear list form. Confusing? Haha, well, not to me and it can motivate me. The past few months I have crossed off very little things so I end up moving it over to the next month and the next… But now, I really feel like this last week of March kicked my butt a bit and I feel so incredibly motivated to mark all things on my list off. My number one thing for April, which unfortunately I have no control over, is to get my HCG level down to 0. Hopefully don’t have many weeks left but who knows.

After spending time at the gym a lot more this past week, and feeling really blah in my body and really sad about that it feels like I’m stuck in deep mud and I can’t crawl up, I could see and feel some results today. I am nowhere near what I used to be or what I like to be, but I know that hard work will pay off in the end. My goal is to build my muscles strong again, get them to be as flexible as they used to be and to go back into dance classes without killing my knees. It’s not an easy road back but I know it’s possible.

April and spring, I am ready for you!

Yesterday I danced around by myself in the studio nearby

Eating out all weekend

March 26, 2019

6 am and dark outside

Good Morning! I started this Tuesday like every Tuesday nowadays. At 6:15 am, I had more blood taken. After I was done, I walked next door to the coffee shop, it was dark in there but door was open. I asked the guy in there but nope, not open yet. So I went for a walk back past our apartment and all the way to Dunkin Donuts instead, bough a coffee black and walked home. I took Thor out and then made myself breakfast to eat with my coffee and sent hubby off to work. Felt pretty good to walk that much first thing in the morning, even if it was freezing outside.

I started to write a post yesterday about our weekend but had so many other things on my todo list that I didn’t finish writing. So…
We had a fantastic weekend as always. On Friday, we went to an Italian place, Siena Ristorante. Surprisingly lots of people there around 6pm when we got there. We ordered a bottle of red and duck for starters. J got some lamb pasta for his main course and I ordered hand made fettuccine with truffle flavored cream and mushroom. Omg, delicious! I’d go back for that!

On Saturday, we woke up early in case the cable guy would show up at 8. He didn’t. We made coffee and had a nice and relaxed morning together. Around 10 or so, I took my coffee and Thor downstairs and met the guy. T and I stayed by the fireplace down there for quite some time while the guy was in our apartment changing our tv/internet provider. When he had left, J and I went to the gym. I have been on the bike a lot lately, it actually feels ok in my knees now. At 2pm, Thor had a spa appointment, and we were starving so we drove to some bar/restaurant in Darien. And then we just waited for our fluffbutt to be done. We picked T up closer to 7 and then had a very relaxed evening with J watching basketball and I watched first season of Game of Thrones (I’ve seen it before but don’t remember).

Avocado BLT and Lagunitas — Almond latte from Lorca

Sunday started with a walk to Dunkin. Around noon, we went to Tigin for brunch. Their bloody mary’s are really good and spicy. In the afternoon we had decided to have a full cleaning day (meaning; I clean and ask J for help from time to time, that’s a deal I made with myself when I moved in with him 7 years ago). Before living here I said absolutely no to ever have carpet in my home, but then I had to admit that it’s kinda nice to walk on carpet in the bedroom (plus this one was brand new) and when we have been talking details for our house, we have picked out carpet for the bedrooms. But after this weekend I once again hate carpet. There are places I can’t vacuum on my own on my regular cleaning days, like behind the bed, behind the big mirror etc, so now I asked J to help me move furniture. Oh man, so disgusting. Two years of dust, yuck.
J was having fever and chills that afternoon, so after super duper cleaning of the bedroom and dealing with laundry, I made him some tea, he watched basketball and I watched GOT.

Warmer outside for a day
yummy brunch with avocado toast, bloody mary and fried goat cheese

That was our weekend. Lots of eating out, cleaning and tv watching:)
I hope you guys had an awesome weekend! Did you eat out as much as we did or did you cook some awesome things at home?

my Buddha man

March 22, 2019

I married a man that is the complete opposite of myself. I’m the goofy, sometimes stormy and dramatic, funny and weird one, while Jimmy is….Buddha. He’s always calm, he’s very smart, (he’s secretly nice) and he only speaks when it’s needed. I have always had giant dreams that I’ve worked hard for while J just got himself a job that he could earn money for something he happened to be good at. He wants to retire young while I want to work til I die (if I only knew with what🤪). I am nice and smile to every living thing and people seem to be drawn to me like moths to a flame whether I want to or not, while J hates everyone and is only nice if he has to be, hahahahha, no, not really…but kinda:)

He’s Ron Swanson in many ways except that he would never build the canoe himself and I am Leslie Knope, or at least used to be, except that I am more organized – the episode when they go to her house..oh my..that’s my nightmare! (I am like the blonde version of Marie Kondo, so if anyone wants to get organized and learn a better way to fold your clothes, then you can hire me, just send me a message).

But we are very similar as well. Our values in life are the same, we believe in a lot of the same things and we make a great team. The best team. We never argue. We can disagree on things of course but nothing more, we have never had a real fight. Like I mentioned above, I can be stormy sometimes but it only last for a few minutes, or even seconds, and then I brush it off and everything is good again. J just ignores it, hahah.

I love this man. He’s exactly what I need and I think I’m what he needs. We balance each other out. And we learn a lot from each other, we have so much fun together and most of all, we want to be there, support and care for each other no matter what. I’m the luckiest girl in the world to have found such wonderful man to spend every day with ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

happy spring equinox

March 20, 2019

We go from cold to warm to cold, winter to spring to winter. It changes every day now
Quest Diagnostics, such a sad little place

Guess what I did yesterday, and guess what I found out today… Yup, yesterday morning at 7:30 am I did another blood test (noone there, it’s always at least 4 other people in the waiting area no matter what time, I was shocked), and today I got a message from my doctor that the level isn’t down enough yet. Yay me, I have to go back on Tuesday. I made an appointment for 6:15 am, aah I hope I can get up that early, hahah. Fingers crossed this is the last time I have to go there now.

Around lunchtime today, my neighbor came down to join me at the gym. We only stayed to stretch for about 20 min and then we went to grab Thor and were out for a walk with him for over an hour. We haven’t seen much of each other lately so it was nice to catch up (she’s the one with the cat that we help watching sometimes). We talked about doing a full moon meditation tonight, but I’m pretty tired now to be honest and I haven’t eaten dinner yet, so I just texted her to do it another night. I might meditate for a few minutes on my own before bedtime tonight cause it is full moon and Spring Equinox after all:)

But first I’m going to sign up to some yahoo thing for March Madness and hopefully win a million bucks.
Have a good night!
