Hello March

March 3, 2020

I had a long list of things to do yesterday, but I ended up with a slow morning and then facetimed with my sister for a couple of hours. Baby Mila was asleep the whole time so we got to have some real sister time:) In the afternoon I started to feel like I had fever. I had been ignoring that I didn’t feel that awesome all day (probably why my morning ended up being so slow) but then I just felt blah and stayed on the couch watching crap on my laptop and drank lots of water until bedtime. I feel much better today, yay!

This weekend we didn’t do much. We took Thor for a long windy walk on Saturday. So nice to be out in the sun. Then we decided to go to Costco but the line of cars started on the exit of the highway (!!) to get in, so we drove back home. Went to the gym, cooked dinner and then watched Svengoolie (or Jim did and I watched something else on my phone next to him haha). On Sunday we drove to Costco again. We were there not even 10 min after they opened and the parking was full. Apparently they had opened fifteen min earlier that day and there had been like 300 people waiting outside, one of the employees told us. Crazy! Our shopping cart ended up full. Again, just in case, we bought a bunch of stuff with long expiration dates so if the world is ending then we have a lot of food:) And as always, I ended up buying a new sweater – even though I’ve told Jim I can not buy any more sweaters hahaha, but I like it:) Super slow afternoon and evening not doing much. These days we just try to stay away from people and enjoy our own company, I’m totally fine with that. This morning we heard that a man who hasn’t been traveling, works on Manhattan and lives in Westchester (it’s near where J works) has been infected, that means it is spreading between people with no connections. It will be here soon. Not worried about us two but it would suck to be someone who spreads it around without knowing it. Are you guys worried at all?

Ok, time to get shit done off of my ToDo list. Have an awesome possum day!

My baby boy, so cute but his hair is waaayy too short, hope it’ll grow back soonBuds, spring isn’t too far away now:)For some reason there aren’t any disinfect wipes at the gym these day.
Good thing I carry this gel around. I have one in my coat pocket as wellLots of chips, bread, meat for Jim, new hand towels, coffee, dishwasher detergent, vitamins, veggies, juices and a billion lemons. With all the shopping we’ve done the past two weeks we don’t have to buy anything for next six months hahah

February 29

It’s quite cold outside today and we don’t have any plans this weekend really, so today is a good day to reflect on how this year is going so far. February 29, an extra day of this year to take advantage of 📝✨

I have seen little flowers popping up everywhere ♥ One house near our apartment has the whole yard full of blue flowers. So exciting, I hope spring is knocking on our door soon!

searching for our future hometown

February 27, 2020

Last nights storm kept me awake and once I succeeded to fall asleep I had weird nightmares. So I’m a bit tired today, but maybe it’s ok to have a slow end of February:) All I’m doing this morning is organizing my saved pins on pinterest of inspiration for our future home 🙂 Kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, bedrooms, exterior and interior inspo. It’s sooooo overwhelming but also so much fun to look for a house and things we like to have. But where should we live?? This thought is driving me crazy.

We didn’t really check Tampa like we should have so I have no opinion on that city. Charleston made me disappointed and sad, cause I really wanted to fall in love with that city, but we didn’t, it’s not a place we will consider to move to. I would absolutely recommend everyone to go visit, it is so cute, but move there, nah don’t think so. We liked Jacksonville a lot and I can probably see us live there, but…when we started talking about moving years ago I said no to Florida before even visiting. I don’t see Thor or a potential child running around safely there, I would constantly be afraid that they would be eaten by an alligator. I don’t care what people in Jax said, they do exist and there are signs everywhere that you have to keep your distance from the water. It stresses me out already and we don’t even live there yet hahah.

Unfortunately there aren’t many cities by the ocean that we can move to. California is a no no and the south states like Texas and Louisiana is not even up for discussion. We can’t stay around here either cause a) it’s expensive! and b) it’s cold!!
Wherever we move we need to be able to work and get insurance, we want good schools for a potential child, I want a palm tree in our backyard and the option to go to the beach, we want to live somewhere preferably with an international airport or at least good connections for my family to come visit, we would like to go to sporting events and concerts plus we prefer lower taxes and cheaper living (who doesn’t). Where is that place? If any of you readers are from a coastal city or have lived in one, can you please tell me a little about those cities, pros and cons?

Inspo for if we had unlimited money to spend and we could live anywhere in the world 😛

prepared just in case

February 26, 2020

Good Morning friends! Yesterday the news kept talking about that the Coronavirus now has reached USA. I am not scared of the virus itself really, if we get it then we’re probably gonna be fine, just be sick for two weeks or something, but it’s the spreading that makes me a little nervous. We live right by NYC where lots of our neighbors work, where lots of people fly in and out, where people from all over world live, a city that is very dirty especially the subways. And to be honest, I don’t trust other people. I see people sneezing and coughing out in the open all the time and I’m sure not everyone wash their hands as often as they should (this is part why I’m a bit germophobic). I heard that in Sweden you don’t have to be quarantined if you don’t want to, it’s voluntarily. What? (However, I just read online that they might add a new law regarding the coronavirus). I really hope that people take their responsibilities and isolate themselves or get quarantined if it’s really bad. To get the virus myself, no, I’m not afraid, but I’m thinking of the old people, the babies and those who are already sick, we have to be careful for their sake. I have lots of people I care about, like my nephew and my niece.

Gaahh, this post sounds so dramatic, hahah. That’s not my intention. It sounds like I’m freaking out about this, I’m not, just trying to think ahead.

But, Jim and I decided yesterday that it would be a good idea to stock up on some food that can last for a long time “just in case” we would get it or if people around us would start getting it and we would have to isolate ourselves. Absolute worst case we would probably rent a cabin in the woods far away from everyone and stay there til coast is clear:) It’s better to think ahead and be prepared than be sorry later.

I feel bit conflicted though. I want to take classes and planned on going to Manhattan to dance, but if there’s any environment that loves spreading stuff it’s dance studios along with schools, gyms and other fitness studios. Virus paradise haha. The thought of taking the train, subway and then sweat and breathe close to other dancers kinda gross me out. I know I’m being silly, but again, you can never be too careful 😀 What would you do?

This wasn’t all that we bought. We bought extra of some of the items shown and also bought some refill hand soap, dog wipes and other more boring stuff that didn’t need to be in the picture:) The grocery store was also quite empty yesterday, not a lot of fruit or veggies of ok quality, they didn’t have my coconut yogurt for example and lots of shelves had old products. But we went to the grocery store and bought lots of stuff a week ago as well, things like potatoes and coffee, so now our small fridge, freezer and cabinets are completely full. Lots of canned food, nuts, soup, pasta and I have huge containers of oats and chia seeds, so if the world would go under, we can survive for a really long time hahha.

miniature doberman?

February 24, 2020

Good Morning! How are you today? We have suddenly got really nice and a bit warmer weather. So lovely in the sun! We’ll see how long it lasts:)
This weekend we took Thor to a new place for a haircut. I don’t think we will go back there. I told her to leave at least an inch of his fluff but he ended up almost completely shaved, even the face plus she cut his whiskers off 🙁 Poor thing, he looks so weird. I mean, he still looks cute, but he definitely doesn’t look like himself. He looks like a miniature doberman and when I put a sweater on him he looks like a chihuahua. Oh well…it’ll grow back in no time. Now he’s ready for spring.
While we waited for Thor to be done we went to a diner for breakfast. Barely came home before we had to go pick T up again (normally it takes a few hours but now he was done in two). Lock City Brewery is just down the street from that groomer so we decided to take T there for a drink before going home.
In the evening we spontaneously took a taxi to the same area we had breakfast to try a place that was across the street from the diner, Riko’s Pizza. Thin crust and tasted just like the Colony Pizza that we’ve been to a few times. I would definitely recommend that, there’s a few places around here.
On Sunday we didn’t do much. I cleaned the apartment, did some laundry and put fresh sheets in the bed. We took Thor for a warm sunny walk, ate a McDonalds lunch, we played computer games and at night we watched an episode of Shameless. Btw, I finished watching the Handmaid’s Tale this weekend, have any of you seen it, what do you think? That show gave me some weird dreams over the past few weeks and the story definitely had me thinking, especially because of everything that is happening around us these days.
Anyway, we had a nice weekend. Thor looks weird but he’ll survive:)
