Boring today. Fun tomorrow.

Idag blir ingen superspannande dag. Trakiga saker idag, roliga saker imorgon! Aaah! Jag ser verkligen fram emot semester!

Today will not be a super interesting day. I have to take care of laundry, vacuum the apartment, water my plants, workout at the gym and pack my bag. Boring stuff today, fun stuff tomorrow! Aaah! I’m really looking forward to a vacation!

In two days

In two days will my honey and I sit by a palm tree enjoying the heat! Really looking forward to it! I love palm trees, so it doesn’t really matter how the weather is because I will be busy looking at these beautiful trees, hahah.

Many people have asked me for pictures from the city Vietri Sul Mare and the small village Raito that we lived in when we were on our honeymoon in Italy in August. I have not posted any pictures from it, I just realized. So here is a few selected photos. The pictures makes me even more excited for Saturday!

Math problems

I just came home from both rehearsal and lunch with Lilja . It’s actually really lovely weather today. I will go out again soon and enjoy the sun.
We continued with tessellations today in rehearsal. Went back to what we explored on Monday. Don’t know if it works as we want it to. We did a sequence on the floor and we tried to put it in a more upright position. But it is hard to translate mathematical problems in a human body. Tessellations is very flat , weightless and 2D while your body functions more in 3D and we can not avoid the fact that we must make use of time and space and we need to relate to Earth’s gravity. We also have differently shaped bodies that can create problems that is not the math-problem itself. Then I wonder, if we are trying to solve a problem ourselves, or do we want to give the viewer a math problem? Is it the process of how to find a solution that’s interesting? Or the actual calculation? We are just at the beginning of our three months exploration, so hopefully we can come to a solution eventually.

During lunch, Lilja showed me one of Beyonce’s new music videos (btw, she met B in a bar in East Village this weekend and introduced herself… how cool is that?). I’m not super interested in Beyonce’s music, but I must say that I like that video. Interesting dance! No idea what the message of the dance is, but whatever:)

However, I have to share the preview version, but if you bought the album or going to buy it, I recommend you to watch the video of “Mine”.

DaveyDanceBlog Helsingborg

Today we started our rehearsals again. Until March, we will work with mathematical problems that we transform to body- and choreography problems. Today was about tessellations. Biggest question we had was how we can shape something with no weight and 2D? What are the rules we set for ourselves and this problem solving?
We have a dancer who works at MoMath who will be involved in this project and a guy from the Alvin Ailey School, both of them were there today with me and the choreographer. The project will consist three of us in the company and a dancer that also graduated from Juilliard. It will be very exciting to see how our performance in March will turn out.

Valdigt coolt projekt! David har akt over hela varlden och spelat in dessa filmer. Hur kul som helst!

This summer the company went to Helsingborg during one of the days off between the performances. Then, we made one of David’s (the cameraman and the creator of the movie Hastdans pa Hovdala) “DaveyDanceBlog”. The rule is that everybody have their ipod/mp3 player and headphones. One chance, one shot, one dance. All music starts at the same time and the dance begins. Noone else can hear so what they see are people dancing around to the same rytm. Very cool project! David has gone all over the world and recorded these videos. So much fun!
