Our ending of the old & beginning of the New Year

January 4, 2021

Hello 2021! It feels so nice to welcome you and leave 2020 behind.

Hope you all had a wonderful start of this new year! Did you do anything special to celebrate the ending of last year?

On Tuesday the 29th I practiced some asana and then did a meditation during the sunset. The full moon was lighting up our apartment and I decided to pull a few tarot cards like I always do on full moon nights or when about to enter a new month. For the first one I asked about 2021 and I got “Blossoming” which sounds pretty nice to me considering I’m carrying a child that is due this spring:)

On New Years Eve I was so tired I could barely sit up cause I had been sleeping poorly that night. So I got basically nothing done and then took a nap in the afternoon (oh pregnant life haha). J was working til 4. For dinner that night we decided to order food from Luckys. I popped a bottle of sparkling apple cider. I’m not a big fan of that and not much for regular sodas either, they are too sweet (says the person who can eat a whole bowl of candy in one go), but that was the most exciting non alcoholic drink I could come up with for the night.
We watched “Dinner for One” like always through youtube. It’s on Swedish national TV every New Years and I just love it, it’s too funny!
We pretty much sat on the couch all night watching the Time Square celebration thing. Then 10, 9, 8….2, 1 – Happy New Year! We stayed up for a couple of hours after that and slept in for a bit the next day.

I started the first day with a shower imagining washing off the past year to welcome the new one. We had breakfast and I facetimed with my mom. Normally, to me, January 1st means to do absolute nothing all day, just watch movies and eat crap. But I was so motivated to start this new year that I didn’t rest much. We went to a store to return something and then went to the grocery store to buy several bags of chips cause I guess we couldn’t really decide what we wanted haha. And when we came home I took down Christmas. Ya, that’s right, I took it down, it was up for a month and that’s enough. I left the garland and the lights on the stairs though since I kinda just put that up and it’s nice light these dark days. Thought J would help me take down the tree but once he was done with playing games on his pc I had taken everything down by myself (ain’t nobody got time to waste).
In the evening we did watch a movie and eat chips. We watched the Disney Pixar “Soul“, it was really good. I’m a big fan of the “Inside Out” movie cause I think that’s an awesome movie for kids and this Soul movie was of the same quality.

Saturday and Sunday had a good mix of me being really productive at home, building a house on sims and watching movies. It’s called balance, hahah.

Did not sleep that well last night cause J snored louder than a monster truck, the neighbors were screaming bad words to each other while slamming doors and the mystery ghost train outside was honking non stop. Every time it finally got quiet for a few minutes the baby started practicing gymnastic routines on my bladder and I also got really hungry. But oh well. Dragged myself up at 7am, took a shower and had a pretty productive day. I love this motivated feeling, I hope it sticks:)

I went for a cold but lovely walk around the “cute street” on the 29th Once I came back home I had calm morning with a kicking baby
(she/he kicked non-stop for 24 hours during full moon) Thor got a haircut on the 30th. Just a trim. He was soft like silk.
He seems to have got some of his black color back which is great!
Cheers! At least I tried to make it look nice:)
If you haven’t seen this, then youtube itJanuary 2nd, bumpie is getting really big now

Lucia and strolling around

December 14, 2020

What’s up? It snowed for a couple of hours here today. Nothing stayed on the ground, it’s too warm for that, but there were lots of giant snowflakes coming down. Supposed to have a massive snowstorm on Wednesday.

Did you have a good weekend?
On Saturday I thought for some dumb reason that going shopping, even if it was early morning, would be a good idea. I first went to Burlington and there were like no people (but the few ones there were screaming bloody murder at their kids). Didn’t find what I was looking for but did buy something for Lilliput and pink fluffy slippers for myself:)

Then I went to Target to return a pair of pants. I try to mostly shop online these days to avoid people but it’s easier to return in person if possible. I had a list of things to get at target as well but after spending some time there I was just too overwhelmed on how much people were already there and the lines to pay were at least half an hour, I did not want to deal with that, so J came to pick me up outside (he had been doing some errands as well) and we went to buy to-go breakfast.
It rained all Saturday so we stayed at home. J had bought us an early Christmas gift – some mini computer that he downloaded all the old nintento, super nintendo, sega etc. games to, and he bought two new wireless controllers, so we were busy playing all the old games:) I was excited for Chip & Dale and Super Mario World, J was excited for Mario Cart

On Sunday, Lucia and Third of Advent, we had a long breakfast in the morning, then we played some games and once the ground outside was dry we took the stroller out for a test drive to see if we want to keep it or not. So far we love it so I think we’ll keep:) A proper review of it will come later.
That’s about all we did this weekend. Now we are just waiting for the snow to arrive in a couple of days. I also have a video appointment with my doctor this week (in second trimester you see your doctor every four weeks). No other plans for this week, just the regular stuff:)

Thor had to test it out of course:)

Last night the sky was really beautiful, it looked unreal

Puzzle Weekend

December 7, 2020

Good Morning! I woke up way too early today and I went to bed late last night. After trying to fall back to sleep for about 1.5 hour I finally  decided to get up (6:20am). I had such a lovely morning by myself. I really took my time getting breakfast ready and then I sat in the living room and watched the sunrise. And then my boys got up and the day started. I’ve been pretty productive so far. Since the second trimester started I have had an incredibly amount of energy so I just keep going and going like a Duracell Bunny hahah (in America I think it’s an ‘Energizer Bunny’).

This weekend we were supposed to have a massive storm, so on Saturday morning we went to the grocery store, bought drive-through breakfast and had a calm morning at home together. In the afternoon we decided to do a 1500 puzzle that I gave J a few years ago, perfect storm activity. The storm never came (plenty of places had closed down due to storm so that must suck for their business). We started the puzzle around 4pm and at 11pm we realized that this puzzle was way harder than we had thought.
On Sunday we drove to a baby store that of course didn’t have anything that we wanted to look at. In the afternoon we were back to puzzle. So many pieces that looked the same, in the same color, so you had to try every piece on one spot and then move on to try them all again on the next. Sometime before 9 my body was quite uncomfortable so I sat down to watch some tv while J finished the very last of the puzzle. Yay, we did it! and we are not going to do this one for several years now hahah.

Second of Advent
Our stroller arrived! We haven’t opened it yet so I can’t tell you if we like it or notAaaah, finished! 9:20pm
I had such a lovely Monday morning.
Gluten free bread, coconut yogurt and yummy toppings
Have a wonderful week!

Thanksgiving 2020

November 30, 2020

How was you Thanksgiving weekend? Did it look different than previous years? For us it didn’t change much. For the past few years we have been celebrating at home just the two of us. We normally travel to Chicago to see J’s family sometime between the holidays or before Thanksgiving, but this year we obviously skipped that all together.
So for us it pretty much looked the same. Just husband and I at home cooking, eating, playing fetch with Thor, facetime people and watching football. But yet, this year felt different of course🥰 I’ve been pregnant one Thanksgiving before but I didn’t know it then yet. We felt extra thankful this year.

We started our Thanksgiving morning with coffee and pumpkin donuts in front of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade on TV. The parade was different this year as well. They still had balloons and performers but they only walked three blocks, streets where blocked off so there wouldn’t be any audience and everyone got tested for covid before. My friend Jess was part of the opening this year again which always is exciting.
Sometime around noon J put the turkey in the oven. I started to prepare the other stuff after 2 or so. Nothing major this year. The stores had run out of cranberry sauce for example and we skipped stuffing. So much food anyway so we really didn’t need more than we had, just a turkey breast (7lbs!), mashed potato and some greens was more than enough for two people:)
In the afternoon we “hung out” with our friends through facetime which was very nice. If the world wouldn’t be like it is we might have actually celebrated with them in person but it is what it is, facetime worked.
Pretty simple Thanksgiving Day just the way we like it.

Jim took this picture and said “Ovens are on” The yellow plate is Thor’s.
He is on a strict diet (due to bladder stones) but after the tough year he’s had we wanted to give him some yummy treats for Thanksgiving. He deserved it.
Jim went to a local bakery that we like in the morning and picked up a pumpkin pie

On Friday we didn’t do much. J was working half the day and I researched baby stuff. In the afternoon we did a yoga practice together and at night we played Jackbox.

On Saturday, as we were eating breakfast listening to classical music, I randomly found through like a # or something on instagram, a stroller brand we’ve never heard of before. We did some research on this for about two hours and then spontaneously actually bought it! Gaahhh! We just bought a stroller! I have done research for years already and in September we had come down to three different ones but now I was kinda set on one, but the one I randomly found this weekend just seemed like a better deal and looked way nicer. Hopefully it’s just as good in person (there aren’t many baby stores here and stores in general don’t have a lot in stock this year due to everything, so we gonna have to buy basically everything online and hope for the best).

Lovely weather on Saturday. Went for a long walk around the “cute street”
