so much people in the park

April 7, 2021

Our little lion this morning

Thor is at the spa today. He is really fluffy and scruffy now. We gave him a bath once we could after his surgery to get rid of old blood stains and stuff, but the fluff behind his ears and around his neck has been quite tough to brush properly due to that the cone created huge knots. He’s not gonna be happy over there today. But this lady always makes him so soft and handsome which is good for the summer and for when baby comes and we might not have that much time to deal with a long coat.

On Monday I saw my friend Daniela and her son. We haven’t seen each other in so long, George has grown so much, he’s 20 months old already. We met in the park by the church behind our apartment, wearing masks of course. She is vaccinated but we still want to be careful. I have to admit, I was quite overwhelmed in the park for bit cause there was a lot of kids and parents when we got there. One dad and his two kids were walking close to us the whole time, the son even walked between me and my friend a few times and I was afraid that he would start touching my belly cause he seemed very interested. Then a mother with a 10 month old came over and she stood pretty close, and there were other kids coming up to us as well, and not everybody was wearing a mask. One kid asked if I am going to have a baby haha, well, either that or I swallowed a bowling ball. I have not been around that many people in a long time. I get overwhelmed only to go to a store during slow hours, so this was tough to handle. And at the same time I tried to be social with strangers, have a conversation with my friend and look after her son.
But it was lovely to see her. I’ve missed her. And now I am going to stay home for the rest of the time waiting for baby. Yes, I will go out for walks, maybe even go to a park with Thor, but I am gonna try to avoid any interactions with people, and I have told J to do the same. We really can’t risk getting sick now. Not only would it suck to be sick but I would also have to give birth alone and isolated at the hospital. So semi-quarantine it is, which will look pretty much the same as it has for the past year haha.

Our Easter Weekend

April 5, 2021

Hope you had a nice Easter weekend! I feel like we didn’t do anything these three days, but we definitely did. We have actually been pretty busy 😀

Since Jim was off work on Friday we could sleep in for a little bit (meaning; get up at 8 haha). He went to buy coffees and once we were done with breakfast we emptied the last bit of our four bookcases, moved them all to the living room where I wiped them off a bit.

The view I wake up to in the morning

At 1 pm, J and T dropped me off at the hospital for my ultrasound. If you wonder why I have so many it’s because of my partial molar history, they want to make sure there’s no weird growth and stuff (other women only have two ultrasounds throughout their entire pregnancy – at week 13 and week 20). So far so good. It was a man that I have never met before. He moved my chair so flat I could barely see the screen, and he talked and talked, I know his whole life story now, felt like I was there for three hours hahah.
At this point it is very hard to see baby on the screen though. He had to pull on my stomach to even reach babys head that is so far down in my crotch now, but he got some measurements at least. Then he moved around on the belly and I have no idea what we were looking at. He turned the 3D on and all I could see on the screen was an upside down heart, like one that you draw (not a human heart). It took me a good minute to realize that I was looking at my babys face and a hand that was covering half of it, that “heart” was babys nose. And a nose is basically the only thing you can see on the baby. These 3D pictures are so creepy and kinda makes me scared that the baby will come out looking that ugly. Neither of us have that ginormous nose, that doesn’t really look like our child. But we’ll see I guess. Baby is within the 50th percentile so that sounds great. The pounds seems a bit heavier than he/she “should” be but like I said, it’s hard to measure anything at 36 weeks when the head is so far down and the body is hiding behind an anterior placenta.

Once we were back home we only got to sit down to have the last pieces of cake and then we had to get up again. The people that bought our bookcase a week ago were coming to buy and pick up the last four bookcases. Our apartment looks so different now. And the whole upstairs is just a mess with boxes and crap. In the evening I cooked us dinner (meaning; heated some dal and cut pieces of bread hahahhah) and we watched some robot movie.

On Saturday we started our morning the same way we always do, with coffees on the couch listening to music. Around 11, J and I drove to Target to return an item that had arrived damaged and then we ran around the store and picked up some last minute things for the baby. It was probably the fasted shopping anyone has ever done at Target in the history haha.
Back home, J tested all the baby gadgets and I did laundry and organized things in the bedroom. Then we went upstairs to tackle the storage room. We have so many empty boxes that has just been taking up space over the years but we need them now when we pack the things that came in those boxes. I feel like we did a lot but you can see no change upstairs haha. Then I filled out the beginning of the baby book that is coming with us to the hospital, made tacos and then we watched the TV show Mindhunter and college basketball.

Bumpie has really dropped now!
I’ve been told that people don’t know that I am pregnant
until I turn around and they see the belly which goes straight out

Sunday started with coffee of course. And then we drove north to Sherwood Island park. Was a bit cold and cloudy when we got there but once the sun came out it was lovely. We came home and J went to grill lambchops. Then we went to the terrace and sat in the sun for an hour. Both our faces were pink after that. Such a lovely day!

Then we moved stuff around in the “nursery” to be able to plug in the baby gadgets behind the dressers. We also put up a picture frame on the wall which might seem silly since everything else in the apartment is going into boxes, but I want it to look cute for the time we are still living here. I will only have this baby once and I want at least the “nursery” to look good.

In the evening we watched the tv show and then the White Sox game. Pretty simple day. I had tons of stuff on my todo for the weekend but my body is getting tired quicker these days. Or not tired really, it’s more like it gives up, protests and doesn’t want to do stuff even if I have energy for it. It’s frustrating but I also listen to my body.

This morning I have done two loads of laundry…or…no.. I have done one load of laundry twice. This stupid washer is driving me nuts. I often have to wash everything two-three times before everything is wet, and I don’t even do full loads these days since I know it wont work. Very annoying. And I have five more loads to do today which will turn into at least 10 (with a functioning washer it would be three loads in total). I can’t wait to move and then I hopefully will never have to deal with cheap GE appliances again (all of the appliances in this apartment has issues and they are all GE). The weather is amazing so I will definitely try to enjoy it as much as I can today as well.

Have a wonderful week!

Busy days for sure

March 31, 2021

Hi! Busy days these days. I wanted to cross off so many things before April, and I have but not as much as I’d liked to, but that’s ok. And now we have added more to the to-do list and they are big ones.
I have a doctors appointment this afternoon. From now on I have to see my doctor every week. Iiiiihhhh, only a few weeks left now! I feel absolutely fine which I am grateful for. I did notice yesterday though that the bump felt and looked a bit different when I was sitting down, and then in the afternoon I looked in the mirror and saw that the belly seems to have dropped a bit and baby is hanging out all in the front now. Getting ready I guess:)

So this weekend we had as you know our Baby Shower. That was one busy day. The whole day before the shower, Jim blew up balloons and I put them together to create a little arch. He also went to party city to fill 6 balloons with helium. These guys should be fired! First they popped a balloon but was at least nice enough to open a new package and blew up 6. But once J got out of the store another one popped cause they had clearly overfilled them. 5 balloons made it home, we set them up and it all looked really cute. The next morning, the helium balloons were sleeping on the floor. Wtf?! So I had to tape them up against the wall which didn’t look that great but whatever.
At 9am on Saturday, J went to pick up the cake. He sent me a picture of the cake while he was there and I wasn’t too happy about it, I wanted more daisies, but the baker was so nice and added more, they even gave us a box of extra flowers to add on our own. The cake turned out amazing! And the cake topper was just too adorable! I hope I can save it forever somehow (if you have any tips on how, please comment). The chocolate fudge filling tastes amazing. I’m not much for cake or cupcakes but with fudge filling like this, I love it.
Jim brought coffees and biscottis home from the bakery. We got to enjoy it for about an hour and then I realized I had to start to get ready cause my long hair takes forever to dry haha. At 11:45 we were finally ready to take the cake out of fridge and place the topper. Of course I wanted to take some pictures of it and then take some pictures of the baby shower decorations and of myself in it. No idea how we managed to get all that done in fifteen minutes but at noon we sat down and were ready for the first call:)
After three hours of talking to loved ones we were so hungry, so J ordered pizza from Riccos. For dessert we of course had cake. Then we completely crashed on the couch in front of March Madness (college basketball). What a busy day.

April birth flower is Daisies and May birth flower is Lily of the Valley, my two favorite flowers and Lilliput will be born during one of these months:) We have been eating a lot of cake but we still have some left haha

The next morning, J went to pick up breakfast at Donut Delight. I need to eat fish ones a week for babys sake so I often get a tuna bagel on weekends (unless I’ve had salmon during the week). And then we started packing! Yes, you read that right, packing. We don’t know if we will be owners of the house or not but regardless of that, we don’t want to renew the lease here, we want to move south this summer, so, we started packing. I’ve been telling J this for months and I think he finally realized it’s a good idea to start before baby comes:)
We emptied the bookcase we had behind the couch and part of the other bookcase we have in the living room. J put the big bookcase for sale on facebook market and two hours later, someone came to pick it up. And these people apparently needs a lot of furniture so they want to buy the three white smaller bookcases we have as well, so I have started to empty them this week, hopefully they get picked up tomorrow.
So now we are kinda living in boxes. We went from preparing the apartment for a life with a baby to complete madness and boxes and stuff everywhere. I re-organized the bedroom/WIC (again!) yesterday and washed more baby stuff (gifts we’ve received). I will try to do as much as I can in the apartment this week. J went to Home Depot yesterday and got more moving boxes. He’s also off work on Friday which is helpful.

We will probably not have time for video games or puzzles ones the baby is here, so it all ended up in boxes.
So did most of our books.

After a hard days work, I enjoyed a non-alcoholic IPAWe were also too tired to cook so we ordered McDonalds for dinner.
Before my last pregnancy (2019) I had not eaten a Big Mac in many years, but that was a craving during that first trimester and I like it during this pregnancy as well:)
We packed the Nintendo games that we had under the TV,
and that became the new space for all the baby books

March 15th

March 15, 2021

With a petite body and short torso, baby has nowhere to go but out.
Curious to see how big bumpie will be at the end
🤪

Good Morning and happy Monday! Jim took Thor to the vet for a check-up this morning. Everything looks great and he is now allowed to play and go to the spa or whatever else he’d like:) We have to bring him back in a month or so and check for stones again cause they can come back but for now he is ok. The stitches has healed really well, we should probably done this surgery a year ago but oh well. We haven’t put the cone on him for several days now actually cause we noticed the first time we let it be off for a bit (to let his neck rest a little while supervised) that he didn’t seem to care or even know that he had stitches to lick so we just kept it off and he’s been fine. He does have a lot of energy though and he’s been grabbing his toys for playtime but we of course couldn’t before his check-up. We have been out for longer walks this weekend though which he enjoyed:)

Had a doctors appointment on Thursday. I’m 33 weeks now and the fundal height of the bump was 33, so measures just fine and heart beat is still around 155-160. In my last report it said “presentation: cephalic” so I of course double checked with this obgyn and yup, baby’s head is down. It must have been down for quite awhile too, cause the bump has been shaped like this since January. I have a terrible itch that burns and hurts (but no rash) on the very top of bumpie and lotions doesn’t help, so I did two blood tests to check on my liver (I had read about something called “itching liver” which it said is more common in Scandinavians, so I had to ask since it can be dangerous to the baby). Results came back normal so I guess it is just stretching skin and my anterior placenta that is being annoying, so I have to just suffer through this til the end. Other than that, everything is perfect with me and baby. I’m getting quite big and a bit clumsy but that’s expected:)

Tuesday-Friday we had really nice spring weather here in CT. I went for walks by myself and sat outside in the park. Premiere on our terrace as well. I’ve been waiting for this! My winter maternity coat is getting smaller and smaller so I need it to turn into spring soon haha. And from nice spring weather we went back to winter over night. Colder and super windy. And yesterday it was even snowing for a few minutes (while it was 9°c/48°f outside, weird), but then back to sunny and dry streets. Today the temperature are around freezing. I have so much to cross off my todo list today anyway so I guess I stay inside:)

We didn’t do much this weekend. I had plans to clean the apartment and organize the spaces for baby but I was more or less a couch potato. We did go for walks and I started to wash baby’s clothes but no cleaning, no cooking (take-out for every meal for three days) and no organizing. But that’s ok…or, kinda ok, it just means more to do today. Jim was nice to vacuum the apartment earlier, not very well but I appreciate that he did it:) I have been a busy bee all day and I am nowhere near done. So, bye!

Jimmy went to the police station on Tuesday and got the car seat installed. The car seat adapters for the stroller also arrived so we tested it out, here with Teddy in it:)Reading on the terrace19°c on March 12 Made Swedish chocolate balls this weekend, they didn’t last long 😛
9°c on March 13, but very nice in the sun still

Thor is home

March 4, 2021

Thor is home! Picture from this morning

I’m 32 weeks pregnant today. Yesterday when I got out of bed it looked like the baby had switched position and was making it’s way to head down. But then, five minutes later she/he was back to the same position she/he has been in for the past month or so. I have had two huge bumps sticking out most of the day on each side of the belly button. Baby seems to love my left side and pushes its whole body out which looks kinda freaky. And three weeks ago a smaller bump started to appear on the right side (and my lower right ribs became a fun thing to play with, I kept feeling and hearing little cracking noises).
But I definitely think the belly dropped a little bit yesterday. J doesn’t think so but I see a difference in the mirror plus my body feels different. I tried to do so many things yesterday before picking Thor up but I was completely out of breath. An hour before we went to pick him up I went for a walk. Not even two blocks away from out apartment I was so out of breath and dizzy that I had to stop. I squatted down on the sidewalk and messaged J just in case, and then slowly walked home. That was the shortest walk in the history.

We went to pick Thor up around 3pm yesterday. I stayed in the car and J went to talk to the vet. Took forever before they came out with T for J to carry to the car and put in my lap. Once he was on my lap I started to cry. The cone just makes him look so helpless and when he started shaking I just couldn’t hold my tears back. I think I cried three times in the first hour after picking him up, and then again a couple more times at night when he was next to me on the couch (I was watching the mini series “Unorthodox” on Netflix).
Surgery went well they said. He also had his teeth cleaned, so he really had a ruff day. Some say that dogs needs their teeth cleaned once a year but Thor’s teeth has been so good so we have waited, plus dogs have to be put under anesthesia and small dogs can’t always handle that. But since he is almost 7 years old we thought it was a good idea to do this now when he was put to sleep anyway. His teeth are great so we probably don’t have to do this for another few years which is good.
The stitch by his penis is a lot smaller than we expected it to be and it seems to be healing. He is peeing blood but that is expected. He has to get pain medication once a day and antibiotics twice a day and this is not an easy task. We are struggling. The pain medication supposedly tastes good and you can put it on his food (he has been eating and drinking which is great), but the antibiotics has to be given with a syringe directly into his mouth and he’s not a fan and he’s too smart so we can’t trick him. A challenge for sure.
He has been resting a lot which I’m happy about, that means he’s not in pain. He woke up a couple of times at night and J took him out (I’m busy taking care of and growing a tiny human after all so I appreciate that J was dealing with that). Today our building has been testing the sprinkler system (they do this 4 times a year) and the fire alarm went off five times. This alarm is the loudest ever made and it always scares the bazinga out of us, especially Thor which of course isn’t good since he needs to stay still and calm.
He’s hopefully back to his normal self in a week or two. It just breaks my heart to see him like this. And I wish I could have told him about it or be able to explain what happened. But it was for his own best, we didn’t want a trip to the ER. Now we are waiting for the results on what type of bladder stones it was and from there we can make decisions on his diet.

My little baby♥
We put him on the couch when we came home and he slept for a few hours
He slept with his eyes half open and was snoring louder than I have ever heard before
