Bike ride with Thor

After lunch today, I decided that vacuum the apartment would be boring and it would be more fun to go for a bike ride with Thor. I grabbed the bike basket and put the leash on T. He barked at first because he got excited but after that he stayed quiet until we were back in the apartment about 50 minutes later. This is unusual!

When T sits in the basket his head is in line with the baskets edge, so if there is a bump in the road I’m afraid that he would hit his head on the basket, so to protect that (and spare his little toothies) I pad it up with a blanket and his dog pouch. He loves that pouch so he feels very comfortable which of course also is important. He just sat there in the basket smiling, very relaxed and enjoyed the ride.

It was suuuuuper duper hot outside though and no wind, so we were both so sweaty after this. I had to put our air conditioner on really cold and then take a cold shower. But it was a perfect little activity for me and Thor today. And I am so proud of him for just hanging out in the basket. He barked once when we were out because he saw two big German Shepherds that he wanted to protect me from, but other than that, he was awesome! Very fun!

Knees and trees

Good Morning everyone! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Mine has been very up and down. I had an appointment with a doctor across the street from our apartment (same building as my dentist, very convenient) earlier this week. I wanted him to check if my ears are ok, cause it’s been feeling like they are full of shit and I was afraid that there would be something wrong with them. But nope, apparently they are extremely clean, so that’s good news. And then I had him check my knees.

If you have been reading my blog for awhile or perhaps since the start, then you know that I have discomfort in my knees from time to time (I don’t like to use the word pain). I have actually never had a doctor take a look at them before or done any x-rays, I have only been to sports medicine, physio-therapist etc. who works with dancers or athletes. Everyone has told me that there’s nothing wrong in my knees and then they end up massaging my back and cracking my neck and I’m like a new person for a few weeks until I’m back with discomfort again. The doctor checked my legs and nope, nothing wrong in my back. We decided that I should go get x-rays on both knees since I’ve never done that before and then we’ll see. The machines at the advanced radiology place here in Stamford is broken and will be fixed next week, so I’ll know more then.

Anyway, this has been a very emotional week for me. The doctor told me something what could be going on in my knees, and if that’s what it is, then I have a lifetime of work ahead of me and I took this pretty hard. But I’m motivated to fight for the rest of my life. But again, I’ll know more after my x-rays.

To something more fun. We are finally getting real summer this week and next. Yay! We’ve had really nice and warm days from time to time, and in between we had really cold and rainy days that feels like fall. It has been nicer in Sweden even. But now it seems like the high temperatures are staying, at least for two weeks, and I can finally say it’s summer. Last weekend we drove to Harbor Point to have coffee by the water and let Thor play in a park and a dog park on Saturday morning. And on Sunday we took Thor with us to a park I had heard about in Greenwich. It was a big and beautiful park. Not much people there and we got a good walk around the whole thing. So a very outdoorsy weekend. It’s good to bring Thor to places too. He still freaks out in the car every time, but we have to just keep trying, get him used to it.
Yesterday, my friend who recently moved from our building to a new place, came over and we went for a walk on the cute street near our house. Such a beautiful day yesterday! And it was nice to spend some time with her.

This weekend is supposed to be really nice as well. Not sure what we’re gonna end up doing. Hopefully we get our own car back today (it took much longer to fix it than expected after Jim’s accident). Would be nice to go to the beach, but I have to go get a beach pass for that. I walked over there last week but they needed registration and I didn’t know that. I’m watching my neighbors cat today and I have some other stuff I want to get done, so not sure if I have time to go all the way there to get the pass, we’ll see. Either way, I think this weekend will be awesome:)

Marilyn Monroe – statue in Stamford

This morning, around 8 am after taking T for a walk and feeding him, I walked over to the government building to get a beach pass only to find out that you need to show a car registration. So I walked over to target to buy new hair conditioner and then continued my walk to a coffee place that I like in the city center. The place had closed down. Bummer:(
So, I walked over to Latham Park to take pictures of the giant statue of Marilyn Monroe that they put up yesterday. Stamford is full of life size statues of people in action, all in 40-50s style. Like, kids playing, someone taking a picture, men in suites going to work, veterans hugging their loved ones, woman walking her dog etc. This series is called “Timeless” and is created by artist Seward Johnson. One day I’m gonna walk around and really look at them all. Right now they are just something I walk by.
This Marilyn Monroe statue is called “Forever Marilyn” and was previously placed in Chicago. When my parents visit Chicago we tried to find her but they had taken her down 2012. She is 26 feet tall and weighs 30.000 pounds. Pretty cool actually. The opening is tomorrow and they are showing “The Seven Year Itch” on Avon Theater. My neighbor mentioned this awhile ago that she is going tomorrow, but it sounded like something else, I didn’t expect a giant statue like this.

Stamford Thanksgiving Parade

Hello readers! How are you? Did you have an awesome weekend?

Our weekend was full of a little bit of everything. On Friday night we went to see the new Thor movie. I’ve only seen the first one and that sucked, but this one was actually good. Our Saturday started with brunch at the Darien Diner and then shopping at Walmart. Our mission was to find a Christmas tree. Walmart didn’t have any good ones but next door at Home Depot we found one that we liked. Neither Jim or I want a real tree cause they are messy, smelly and I prefer to pay for a tree once and reuse it rather than buy a new one every year. I can’t wait til we can put our Christmas stuff up after Thanksgiving. The rest of our Saturday wasn’t too exciting. I cleaned out our storage and made space for the new tree. I think November is a perfect time to declutter your home.

On Sunday, we took Thor for a walk to downtown Stamford to watch the Thanksgiving Parade. T always gets too excited and nervous around a lot of people (over stimulation) and barks your ears off but Jim insist on bringing him with. I didn’t get to see or enjoy the first half of the parade cause I had to calm T down. Eventually I just gave the leash to J and ignored T. My ears had got enough. By this time it had got emptied out in the crowds too cause the wind was so strong and cold and kids needed to go home. We were a little disappointed in the balloons. Maybe it was because of the wind that caused a lot of the balloons to face down. Not really exciting at all, but at least I got to experience it for the first time (cause I would never go to the Macy’s one on Manhattan). We went for a late lunch (without Thor), bought a star for the x-mas tree top at Target and then we just hung out at home.
