Mill River park

Thor and I went for a long walk this morning. It was time for T’s second potty and I was planning on taking him out for like 20 min, but it was such a beautiful day that we just kept walking for over an hour. We ended up in Mill River Park, right by the city center. I’ve been in that park once before for an Indian Independence Day celebration thing, but never walked around it. It’s actually pretty big. So quiet and beautiful. We sat on a bench after about half of the park walk and watched the birds eat from the feeder. T was pretty warm, so we walked home after that.

I’m not feeling that awesome, so a long walk was perfect today.

Bowling in Norwalk

We drove to Norwalk yesterday. It was supposed to be crappy weather all day so we decided to go play laser tag. On our way there it turned out to be a really nice and sunny day, but we still went to Bowlmor. Apparently you have to be at least 4 people to play laser tag, so I guess we have to get to know some people here so that we can play against them, hahha. I have never done it so I was super excited. Oh well. We decided to go bowling instead. We did three rounds. We both kinda sucked through the whole game haha, but we had fun and that’s all that matters:)

It was a beautiful afternoon and evening, so we sat outside. First on our terrace but then decided to go to the rooftop (it’s on the back of our apartment with evening sun). We brought Thor, even though you’re not supposed to. So quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view and sunset. Then we had steak with roasted sweet potato for dinner and ended the day by watching The Magnificent Seven.

Today has been a lovely day. Went for a morning walk to get coffee, we found a place and booked it for our Hawaii trip, J worked out at the gym, we went shopping and then ate a late lunch/an early dinner at home. I’ve been sitting in the hot sun on our terrace now for awhile and J is watching football. T is sleeping:)

Labor Day weekend, Darien Diner, free stuff & nice weather

Good morning! How was your Labor Day weekend? We had a pretty relaxed one.

Like I mentioned, Jim worked on my blog most of Saturday. He took a break for a few hours and we drove to Walmart in Norwalk and after that we stopped by The Darien Diner. Super cute inside. Old American stuff. The food was great too! I can really recommend this place.

On Sunday, we had an early dinner at a pizza bar and then went to Bed Bath & Beyond. We were looking for a small pitcher to steam milk in on our new espresso machine, but they didn’t really have any. We talked to a sales person in there and she ended up giving me a pitcher from a displayed espresso machine for free. “I won’t get in trouble walking out with this though?” I asked and she answered “No, just hide it. People steal display stuff all the time, and I say it’s ok”. Aum, what? I asked her if she would be in trouble then, but nope, she just told me to pay for the other stuff I had and hide the pitcher when I walked out. Weird, but thank you sales lady:)

Yesterday, Labor Day, we didn’t do much either. It was lovely weather, really warm again, so we enjoyed our day on the terrace. J had a little art project, I was reading and Thor was sleeping in his bed on a chair between us. In the evening, I cooked us a nice salmon and potato dinner and then we watched Shameless and went to bed early. A very “married-couple” kinda weekend, haha.

The weekend of lots of walking

Hello! Like I told you, we have been busy being relaxed:) It’s nice to have family here. Now when we have so much extra space and a guest bed (a fold out couch, not the most comfortable one but it looks nice hehe) we can have people visiting us more. Before when we lived on Manhattan, people had to spend lots of money on hotels so we are happy that family can come and stay here. We get more time with each other this way too:)

We went to the Mianus River Park and walked without looking at the map what trails to follow. Perfect day for hiking for Thor since it wasn’t too hot for him. We also went to the Half Full Brewery one day for the “tour” (not much of a tour, it’s just one room with tanks and a guy drinking a beer showing it). We were gonna watch the fight, but the bars who had it had crazy entrance fees, so we ended up at home and J was actually the only one staying up to watch it haha.
One day we drove to the Cove Island Park. Beautiful day. That made us hungry so we had brunch at Tigin to watch the Bears game. At night we had champagne and popcorn with the last episode of Game of Thrones. Thor was all dressed up in a dragon sweater, too cute!
For Jims birthday we took a taxi to Rowayton to eat at the seafood restaurant. Their food is amazing and it’s a cute place overlooking the boats. Appetizers, main dish and dessert, it’s all awesome.
A very nice long weekend. I’m very proud of Thor who can walk so much. Several miles per day, impressive for such small little fluffball.
