Halloween 2018

Happy Halloween!

This year, Thor and I dressed up as mommy and pommy unicorns.
I didn’t want to go all in this year, so I just went for hair and makeup along with a unicorn headband that we bought in the same store as we found Thor’s costume.
Feels kinda silly for us to dress up to just hang out with each other. Last year we went to a party at a brewery and we could have done the same or something similar this year. But to be honest, I didn’t really feel like going to a party thing where we know noone and don’t want to know anyone, hahaha. Na, this little thing I did with Thor is enough this year:)
What do you think?

Pumpkin fun – video

We don’t have time to carve pumpkins this year (“ain’t nobody got time for that” 😛 ) so here is last year’s video from when we carved pumpkins and roasted seeds.
Pumpkin carving is a great fall activity. Just to go to a local farm and pick them out can be fun too. In the future when we have a house, I think I want to be more creative and carve something really cool and more advance than what we did in this video and I want to have lots of them:)
Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy this.

Election in Sweden 2018

It’s been a pretty soft weekend. Yesterday we went on a little 4 mile hike with Thor in the Mianus River Park. We walked a different way than we usually do which was pretty nice. It has been a bit colder temperatures this weekend which is good for Thor when it comes to long walks.
Today, I have been helping out to feed the neighbors cat, we went for brunch at the diner next door and then I went to the gym before the Election in Sweden started.

I sent my vote, with two witness signatures from hubby and his father, by mail last Monday. I was worried it wouldn’t get there on time, but then I found out that the votes from us in other countries are not counted until the 12th. Votes by mail from abroad can come in as late as tomorrow, even though the election was today. Weird and I don’t really understand why, but that probably guarantees that my vote will get there on time. We started streaming the election on Jim’s computer connected to the TV by 2pm (Swedish time 8pm, when the voting stopped). Five hours later, I’m still confused and there’s no real results. Now they are actually waiting for my vote (and all the votes from other countries) to come in and then it could be two weeks or maybe more before we know what’s going to happen the next four years.

I don’t like to write about politics here, so…I’m done..
I just hope that everyone who could vote, did!

And now we went from the Swedish election to beers and the Chicago Bears first game. And tomorrow, my sister and her guy is here!!

Soccer and Birthday Party

Yesterday we walked to downtown Stamford to find a place to have brunch and watch the game. We had been to the gym before and ended up leaving home a little late, so every place was packed. But we actually found two seats and was able to kinda see the game. Too bad it was a crappy game though (but hey, Sweden made it this far, they should be proud). We had fun at least. We saw someone with a Swedish jersey at the place, but the whole area was mostly British people or people who were cheering for England (three bars next to each other streaming the game so everyone was at the same place which made it an exciting area).

In the afternoon, we dropped Thor off with our neighbor and then walked to the train station. Train to Larchmont, NY, and then a 20 minute walk over to Mike’s house. Jim’s boss (Mike) and his twin brother are turning 50 today so they had a 100th Birthday Party yesterday. Very cute setup in their backyard with tables under a big tent. The food was really awesome too, just simple fried bbq stuff. There were plenty of kids there as well and they all ran around having fun and later some of them went kayaking out to the ocean (the water comes in by M’s house). A very relaxed birthday party outside in the sun. Some people J used to work with showed up and we had a really nice evening.

What a game!

I usually don’t care about soccer, but the World Cup is always a bit more fun. And today was really fun!

This morning I got up, got ready, felt a bit stressed cause I wanted to go get my test done as soon as possible so that I could be back home with Thor when the inspection happens (they still haven’t been here). I came  there around 7:30am and the place was packed. I had to sign in on a tablet and my name popped up on the TV. 50 min wait, oh my. I had read reviews that they weren’t very helpful or friendly at this place and that you can end up spending hours there. While I waited there was actually a patient who got into a big fight with two behind the desk and I hoped it would be over soon. But it must have just been that womans attitude, cause everyone was sooo nice to me. I got in after about 50, got a needle in my arm and was out the door within two minutes. Bought coffee at the place next door and walked home.

And then soccer came on. At first I just thought I can have it on and go upstairs to do other stuff and just listen to what’s happening, but then I decided to put my Swedish t-shirt on, put Thor in his blue “thor” sweater (I don’t have any yellow or Swedish for him) and then watch the game after all.
The first period was so boring and I barely watched. But then the second half started and oh my, so fun. Thor kept freaking out because I was screaming at the TV, my phone kept getting messages, I got a few spam calls and one call from the dentist and all this made T very nervous I guess. But Sweden scored three goals!! And South Korea scored 2 so Germany was kicked out so Mexico is still in it. These games was so much fun and I kept writing with my dad and sister who were just as pumped up as I was. Hahah.

Now I’m waiting for Brazil at 2pm. I’ve always been a Brazil fan, most likely because of my cousins:) (and for some reason I liked Holland for many years as well, but they are not in it this time), so I’m excited about that game too. Plus my friend is Brazilian and it would be fun if our countries end up in the final:)
