Hockey in Philly

On Saturday we went to, like mentioned before, a hockey game. Jim’s old college was in the finals and he had got some free tickets, that’s why we went to Philadelphia.
In the evening we went to the area where the stadium was. We met up with J’s college friend that was also there with his family. A country bar with dancer, a mechanical bull and Minnesota fans.
Jim met up with the man with the tickets (who apparently had three sons in the team!) and it turned out that we had a private suite. Fantastic food and good seats. It was just me, Jim and a man with his two younger daughters in the suite, so it turned out to be even more private and luxurious. Then, our suite suddenly got filled with Union fans that stole our food. They had the suite next to us and only had food like hotdogs and stuff, and they liked our nicer food with mussels and couscous hahha:) They were nice and I had a fun night. Unfortunately, Minnesota Gophers lost, but we had a great night. It was my first live hockey game and yes, it is different to see a game live than on tv.

IMG_8895_2IMG_8897_2IMG_8902_2IMG_8924_2IMG_8981_2Plotsligt sprang deras Gopher in i var svit:)
Suddenly their Gopher ran in to our suite:)

Philadelphia Day 1

Gick ett par turer inne pa Independence Hall, fodelseplatsen for Declaration of Independence och The Constitution.

Wow, what a weekend we’ve had! We have been so busy! We really had a wonderful weekend!
On Saturday we took the 7am train to Philadelphia. When we arrived at 8:30, we took a taxi to tourist area and ate breakfast on a restaurant. The weather was already wonderful and we began our tourist day with the Liberty Bell. We were lucky, almost no people there, just five minutes later, the line into the hose was so long. We walked a bit and visited the Betsy Ross House and saw where the American flag was created. We continued to Elfreth’s Alley, a small British street and then back to all the other historical things. Walked a couple of tours inside Independence Hall, the birthplace of The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution. Then it was time to check in at the hotel by the water.
We were now almost done with all tourism. I wanted to visit a prison that I had read about, but it was far outside town, so we have to visit that some other time. Instead we went and sat on an outdoor terrace on an Irish pub . So incredibly good food! And the sun was warm and it was suddenly summer. Wonderful! Next to us sat a Swedish “skåning” (south of Sweden) on skype with all sorts of people in Sweden. Funny that hear Swedes talking and Jim thought it sound strange, hahha.
Made a quick stop at the hotel and then off for hockey.

We are going down to Philadelphia today. Decided yesterday that we should make a trip down there over the weekend. Time is now half past five and I have showered and made myself done. Jim will probably sleep until we need to leave our home, haha.
I have written a list of course of things we need to see in the city. I skype’d with my parents yesterday and of course my dear father mentioned that we should walk on all the streets that Bruce Springsteen is walking on in Streets of Philadelphia. Looking forward to this weekend.
