last day in Sweden

This week passed by pretty quickly. It’s almost 9am now, I’ve been awake for a few hours already but didn’t get up until 7:30, took a shower and now I’m doing stuff on my laptop. I have barely touched my computer since we got here. Our flight isn’t until 6:30 pm tonight, but we have to take a train to Copenhagen (it takes about 2.5 hours) and you never know with the trains here, so we want to leave somewhat early. My parents are at work now but my mom will come home around noon and drive us to the station.

We’ve had an amazing trip. It really did go fast thought, feels like we just got here. But I feel like we got some good quality time with my parents and my dad got a good birthday surprise and that’s why we came here.

Jim is still asleep. I kinda want to start to pack our bags, but I have to wait a little bit until I go wake him up. At least one of us should have a good sleep (I feel like I haven’t slept at all). Thank you Sweden, we’ll see you again…some time in the future:)

Good Morning from Sweden

Good Morning! My husband and I are in Sweden. I couldn’t write about it before because the trip was a surprise for my dad and I didn’t want to risk him reading about it:)
We landed in Copenhagen on Friday around noon. We spent the day there, stayed for a night, took the train over to Sweden and up to Falkenberg early Saturday morning. Our original surprise plans had to change for different reasons. So my mom picked us up at the train station and drove us to their house. She walked in and said hi, I said hi and then Jim said hi. My dad had been told that my mom was going to her sister to pick up some stuff so he thought it was my aunt and her husband who said hi. He came down the stairs and just stood there staring at the two of us for several seconds. Eventually he understood that it was us. He was in shock all day, haha, so fun!
The party we had planned to have on Saturday had to be pushed to Sunday. We got him out of the house and set up all the stuff. My sister, her guy and his kids came over and finished setting it up. My dad had no idea and was once again surprised. Very successful weekend.

Yesterday we did some errands in the town. I got a haircut, I went to fix something at the bank, we had fika at EspressoHouse were I met an old classmate that I haven’t seen since high school, went shopping for some small things in different stores, went grocery shopping and then my mom drove home while we had fika again with my friend Jeanette.
Today we had planned to take the train to Gothenburg, but Jim didn’t seem too excited about it, it’s going to be cold up there plus it’s nicer there in the summer, so, we decided before going to bed last night that we are not going. So we’ll see what we end up doing today.

Three days in Charleston

New York City from above, so pretty, wish I had my better camera to take this picture
French toast panini with banana and nutella, delicious!
Rainbow Row Folly beach Fried green tomato with cheese and bacon with strawberry jam, so good! One shop had a parrot hanging out talking to peopleWonderful weather in January, I could get used to that!
Sullivan Island I had to hug the palm trees goodbye for now:)Our flight was delayed. I sat there eating candy for awhile and
noone noticed me, they were all into their phones and computers

Why did we visit Charleston?

We were in Charleston, South Carolina, January 4-6. This trip was just like our trip to Tampa in April last year = an exploration to see if we want to live there in the future. We don’t want to just decide to move somewhere without checking it out first. I loved the beaches in Tampa, but the city did nothing for me. Charleston was super cute and I liked it a lot and I have had a feeling about SC for several years, even if I had never visited. I tried to listen to if my guts would tell me something during this trip, yes or no to live there, but I didn’t get anything. There’s a chance that I might have been listening too hard so that I didn’t hear anything at all.
But we both liked it. Very cute city, beaches were great and driving in a few different areas was nice. But it’s very flat down there. We both like hiking and mountains. Charleston isn’t the place for that, hahah. We’ll see.

I know, I’m a bit slow these days to get posts up here, I have a lot of other things to do and I guess the blog hasn’t been the priority. Sorry about that. But I’m about finished with the video from Charleston. I have a few details to add or change but it should be up soon.

No sleep

We are back from Charleston. We had an amazing weekend away. It rained on Friday but both Saturday and Sunday was really nice and we had a good time.
Less nice was the lack of sleep. We stayed in a hotel a bit outside the downtown area, just a whatever hotel, a place to sleep basically. We went to sleep before 10 pm on Friday because we had been at the airport early in the morning and we wanted to get up early on Saturday to enjoy the better weather plus we had an appointment. At 1am a family that stayed next door to us came “home” and their kid was so LOUD! It sounded like he/she was having really fun so if it was in the middle of the day I would have loved listening to all that laughter but at 1am with paper thin walls, it was not fun! He/she was scream-laughing and like jumping around on all the furniture for maybe half an hour. Eventually the kid seemed to have gone to sleep but then the parents turned on the tv and had it on all night long.
The next night we were both exhausted. What sounded like a whole football team came to their room above us and practiced being a herd of elephants. One person was up elephant’ing at least once an hour all night long. Right before midnight we heard people next door coming back. The kid was quiet but the damn tv was back on all night. And then they had an alarm clock that turned on at 5 am that escalated 5 stages (for about 4-5 minutes) until they turned it off. Then they used the shower for maybe an hour. When you are tired everything sounds so much louder. It was horrible.

I think I slept for maximum five hours all weekend, and I didn’t sleep much the night before we went either (I never do before travel). Guess if we are tired. Yesterday I was a complete zombie. Today is a little bit better but not much. If I don’t get 8 hours of sleep per night, I don’t function that well. Everything I do these days are in slow motion. Posts from our weekend and maybe a video will come up…eventually, haha. Right now I need a nap.
