Labor Day Weekend in Chicago

September 3, 2019

Hello from Chicago! We have been here since early Saturday morning. We have seen family and friends, it has been really nice. We’ve spent time with hubby’s dad, his wife and grandparents, been staying at his mom’s and stepdad, we saw Bob and Sarah twice, Mike Brook and their baby girl Ella one day and then had a pool party with Jim’s high school friends and their families.

We’ve had pretty lovely weather for the most part but this morning we woke up to a storm. Now our flight is canceled and we can’t get on any other flights today cause it looks like all the airlines will cancel as well. So we are staying til super early tomorrow morning. Hopefully the weather doesn’t get worse til then, but it looks ok in NYC so I’m not worried about it:)

baby snuggles and a chipmunk

August 13, 2019

Hope you’re having a fantastic day! I woke up around 5 and couldn’t fall back to sleep so I’ve been a bit tired all day, but that’s ok. I had my blood test done in the morning, I really hope for some great answers tomorrow. For the past two tests I’ve been kinda more excited to hear what my doctor will tell me…or, excited might not be the right word, but now I have really tried something on my own that can help me get my level down so I’m of course curious if it helped. Didn’t see much better result last week so I’m really hoping for better news now.

So, what did we do this weekend? On Friday we took Thor to the vet for his annual checkup and to get some shots. He was such a brave boy, very proud of him. And he’s a healthy boy. He has gained some weight just like his momma but he’s still tiny. J and I went to have a quick dinner out and then spent the night at home with T and watched the movie There will be Blood. On Saturday we had our normal donut delight coffee, took T for a long walk and then we went to the gym for an hour. When we came back Thor looked like a completely different dog, he was all puffy. We called the vet immediately who told us to send a picture of him. Seems to have been an allergic reaction to the shots from Friday. He has had these shots before and never reacted. I thought at first he had got bitten by something outside cause he did scratch his face a bit when we were out. Jim gave him a tiny bit of benadryl (allergy pill) and then we kept an eye on him for a few hours. Aww, my baby, he looked like a chipmunk, or at least half his face did. But he didn’t seem bothered and was happy so not too much to worry about.

He doesn’t look as bad on picture like he did irl. He was very very swollen

Later in the evening he looked so much better. We gave him a tiny bit more benadryl. We decided he was fine to be left alone so we took a taxi over to our friends house. We ordered pizza and had a real good time. The boys sat on the balcony for some of the time while us ladies snuggled baby George. He’s two weeks old now and so small and cute.

J bought the Google Pixel3 phone last week so we tested some selfie option:)

On Sunday we took it pretty easy. Still kept an eye on T who’s face was back to normal. J and I went to this Mexican place with good rating for lunch and it was really good! We sat on our terrace for awhile and then we went for a walk over to Mill River Park for Paws & Pints. That was not really what we expected. Sometimes they have these events in the park with food trucks and drinks and usually it’s a nice setup. But this thing meant “bring your dog to the park, get charged to register your dog to be allowed to walk in the Stamford parks or get fined a much larger sum of money later, buy a drink and stand in the fenced in dog area and look at your sweaty pups”. Thor was actually being a really nice boy in the park, proud of him, he had a good time. You never know with him so we always have to watch him. Eventually we took our drinks and walked around in the rest of the park instead. Back home we were too tired to do anything so we just hung out and did basically nothing for the rest of the day.

On the road again

July 20, 2019

We are back on the road. This time we are driving south to Philadelphia. We have a hotel booked, tickets for JLo tonight and then we are driving back tomorrow. We have already explored all the tourist stuff here last time we were in Philly (check out the posts HERE) so we’re not sure what we gonna do today. We’ll see. Its gonna be a fun weekend either way.
Hope you’ll have an awesome weekend!

ROADTRIP; USA | CANADA > NIAGARA FALLS

July 15, 2019

Hi! Hope you had an amazing weekend! We did:) Went for pizza in Rowayton, threw oil paint away (they only have two dates per year for that), been on walks, went to the beach, finished watching the tv-show Dark and watched the sunsets. Pretty relaxed and perfect. Hot and sunny as well which I love. It’s gonna be even hotter this week:)

Ok, so now over to the second post of our ROADTRIP. If you watched my latest youtube video, then you already know what we did, but I want to write and show you pictures of it too:)

The morning of 4th of July we had breakfast at the hotel in Lewiston, NY, went for a walk along the water (and looked at Canada) and then drove to the airport in Buffalo, NY to pick J’s dad up (Anna didn’t make it). We drove to Niagara Falls on the American side. Such a shitshow (prob because of 4th of July), but I’m glad I got to see it from that side. And then we of course had some Buffalo Wild Wings in Buffalo before we started our journey into Canada.

Morning in Lewiston. We really liked that cityNiagara Falls seen from the American sideBad picture I know, but I thought it was cool
to see my first groundhog just hanging out by the falls:)

Bridge to Canada. Loooong line of cars hihi, I thought this was a funny sign with a man wearing a hat

We stayed at an airbnb in a town called St Catherines in Ontario in Canada. The place was close enough for us to walk to the Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. So. Much. People. Not sure if there’s always that many people or if it was because of the holiday. But, we got to see it. They are very powerful waterfalls. It’s kinda overwhelming in a way. Jim and I decided to go and experience the falls up close. They told us it would be a 1-1.5 hour line to get there but we somehow ended up in a earlier line and got in somewhat quickly.
Those falls are strong, wet and loud! We walked out on a deck next to the falls and then also behind (which was kinda whatever, you just see some loud water), but the decks was fun. 22 canadian dollars per person, not bad.

Niagara Falls seen from the Canadian side…
..looking at where I took the picture from the American side

After all that we needed to sit down for a little bit. We walked away from the falls a bit and to our surprise we ended up on a street with haunted houses, Guinness World Records, rides, wax museums, games…you name it, pretty crazy. You could stay a few days there only for that.
After a cold beer at a brewery we walked to what the bartender had recommended for poutine which is a must to eat in Canada apparently. The boys loved it, I thought it was just another kind of greasy fries. And then we walked down to the falls again.

We found a perfect spot among all those people. Apparently they have fireworks at 10 pm every night during summer and now when it was 4th of July they made the falls red white and blue for America. They were ok fireworks. The coolest thing I thought of was that everyone was pretty quiet. Normally when there’s fireworks you hear at least kids cheering or something, but not there, everyone just stood there watching in silence. And then we walked back to our airbnb.
Happy to cross off Niagara Falls from my list and to add another country on places I’ve visited:)
