Yesterday afternoon, while I went to my weekly check-up with my doctor, Jim went to get his first shot of vaccine. Last week he updated every site for a full day and then finally he found an appointment to schedule. And it was a drive thru right by the clinic I was scheduled at the same time as my appointment. Couldn’t have timed it better.
Apparently you need a pelvic exam to check if you are dilating or not at every visit from now on, I didn’t know that, I thought I was just coming in to check heart beat and ask questions like always. My main doctor told me last week that I could bring my birth plan for this visit. I put one together only a few hours before my appointment. This doctor just told me to bring that paper and go over it with my main doctor next week cause she had to leave to work at the hospital (my regular appointments are at two different clinics but I will give birth at the hospital). So I spent all that time writing yesterday for nothing haha.
This doctor is also pregnant, something I found out only three weeks ago. Since I hadn’t heard of it before and judging by the size of her belly when I saw her in the hallway that same day, my guess was that maybe she’s four months pregnant or so. Nope, she is due only a couple of weeks after me, her last day at the office could be my birth day. See, this is why nobody should make assumptions on someones body. She looks fantastic and healthy, I could barely tell she was pregnant yesterday.
Jim and I were done about the same time, but J had to stay there on a parking lot for another 15 minutes so they could make sure he wouldn’t get sick from the vaccine. I didn’t mind waiting. It was a lovely sunny day with 17°c so I just stood outside waiting. J feels ok from the shot, just a sore arm. His next shot is scheduled on our due date though so he might have to change that.
I have also started to think about if I should get the vaccine once the baby is here. My plan was to wait til after I was done breastfeeding (if I end up doing that), so towards the end of the year, but studies has now shown that babies can get antibodies from their breastfeeding and vaccinated mother. Something to think about for sure.
Today is a gray day outside so I will focus on all the stuff that I didn’t get done yesterday when I was writing my birth plan. We have also started to think about selling our main couch. The other day, J found a buyer for one of our floor lamps. When they came, he showed them pictures of our glass coffee table and my old glass desk (same series of furniture from ikea) and they wanted both. So all of a sudden he came running up the stairs where I was doing stuff on my computer. Quickly we had to put everything that was on the tables on the floor and then he ran down with the two items. So now we have a huge mess up here. When he came back he said kinda as a joke “what else can we sell?”. I told him that I am fine getting rid of the main bigger couch in the living room and move the smaller white couch upstairs down. So that might be our mission this weekend, to deal with the upstairs mess and to put the couch on the market. Things are moving fast around here in the Sura household hahaha.
