Haircut, hiking and yummy appetizers

Hello new week! It’s raining and Thor is so tired that he didn’t eat his breakfast, he rather sleep. Just one of those gray days.

We didn’t have any plans for this weekend. We had seen that it said it was going to rain most of the weekend so we made no plans other than in the last minute book Thor for a haircut.

Friday was super nice so we went to the outdoor serving at Tigin in downtown Stamford and had happy hour appetizer food with live music in the background.

On Saturday morning, we dropped Thor off at the dog spa. It feels like he just got a haircut, but his hair and nails grows extra fast during summer. We are going camping in two weeks so we want his hair to be shorter then and since it’s our 5 year anniversary this coming weekend, it was perfect that she could squeeze him in this Saturday. While he got a haircut, we drove to Walmart to get a few things and then had breakfast at the Darien Diner. We kept getting flash flood warnings on our phones and at Walmart it sounded like the rain was gonna come through the roof. So much rain!
We picked Thor up, he looked really good this time. It’s always hard to know what to ask for with his face since he has these markings, but she did a great job this time I think. Apparently he also scored some cat food there, haha.
We went to the Athletic Club to work out around lunchtime and then wanted to go see a movie in the afternoon. But the movie passes we have didn’t work. That company is about to go under, which sucks, it was such a great deal. Instead we went to the grocery store and got some yummy snacks to munch on with a movie at home at night. I had already seen the movie so I wasn’t super into it, I was more focused on eating my popcorn:)

Sunday was supposed to rain all day, but after breakfast the sky cleared up, so we drove to a park with Thor. The sun was fully out by lunch so we once again went to Tigin to have appetizers. Lovely to sit outside. Better enjoy it when we can:) Jim went home after lunch and I walked over to the mall. Found nothing, so I went home after just a little while. Sat on the terrace for a bit before we got too hungry. I made a pasta alfredo with bacon.

At night we watched a movie and then I found a video with Sylvie Guillem‘s performance she ended her career with by Mats Ek. Perfect way to end a relaxed and enjoyable weekend.

A day on Manhattan with an old friend

I had such wonderful day on Tuesday. I came in to Manhattan around 2pm, took the subway down to Fulton St and walked over to Ground Zero. And there stood Monika, my friend from Czech Republic that I haven’t seen in 6.5 years. Wiihee, what a long hug we gave each other ♡

We walked over to Brookfield, bought coffee and walked down to my old neighborhood (Battery Park). After a little stroll there, we took the subway up to 59th and walked over to Central Park. We spent a few hours in CP, catching up all the years we have been apart.

Oh, I have really missed her. Both of us felt that it hasn’t been that long since we last saw each other. It’s a very safe friendship. I know she will be there and I will be there for her as well. For those of you who doesn’t know, Monika was my roommate when we lived in Portugal and she also lived in NYC for three months in the fall of 2011 plus three months in the spring 2012. We don’t write each other very often, but we also don’t have to:)

Closer to 7pm the sky shifted to dark gray and lightnings where coming all around us. I freaked out and started to walk faster and close to buildings to get to Grand Central. Apparently it had been a rain storm everywhere else except where we had been walking, weird. My train back to Connecticut was leaving at 8:01, so we said “see ya later” on GC. We don’t like to say goodbye, cause we know we will cross paths again, so it feels like a see ya later every time we go apart.

So nice to see her! She’s always so full of life and sees things with excited eyes just like I do ♥

Today is a day I’ve been waiting for. My friend from Czech Republic has been traveling around in America for awhile and her last stop is NYC. So I’m taking the train in to Manhattan later today to spend some time with her. I’m sooooo excited!

Before I go, I’m gonna take care of the last bit of laundry, go for a long walk with Thor, shower and hopefully have time to eat some kind of lunch. My left wrist and lower arm hurts like crazy today though and I have horrible pain in the left trapezius muscle. I’ve had that pain coming back since New Years, I wonder why.. Last night I ended up getting out of bed to take a painkiller. I absolutely hate pills so I need to be in lots of pain before I end up taking painkillers. But I just couldn’t find a good position to sleep in without it hurting. So, I should be careful with what I do with my left arm today. Good day to just hang out with an old friend:)

Here’s a little video from Thor’s and my meditation break on our afternoon walk yesterday:

First weekend in August 2018

Good Morning! Did you have a good weekend? Ours was really relaxed. We went out to a bar nearby with some friends on Friday night which was awesome of course. Saturday morning started with a visit to the vet. Thor had his normal check-up. He got three shots, another shot right in his mouth and they took a blood test. Little baby was so scared. He screamed when they took the blood, but he did so well. That many shots for such little guy is a lot to take. But it’s necessary. Rabies shot is only taken every three years, so at least it’s not too often.
The weather was boring all Saturday morning so we didn’t do much, but it turned out to be a really nice day in the afternoon, so we brought Thor to a bar nearby and sat there for a few hours. Sunday was hot hot hot and sunny. We basically stayed outside all day. T was kinda groggy from all shots so we stayed with him all weekend. It’s so nice to have our own outdoor space. And when we need a break from all the sweat, we can just go inside and enjoy the air condition:)

But holy cow we had a sweaty night. This morning, we woke up to two giant puddles in bed. So gross! I rarely sweat, but even I had been swimming in my sleep. The air condition was set on 71 degrees, but it must have not come on often enough or something, because we were dying. So I’m doing laundry now, I flipped the mattress and I have hand washed our pillows. We have the kind of washing machine that opens from above and has a twist thing in the middle, so not recommended to wash pillows. Hand wash them wasn’t easy, but I somehow got it done. Now they just take forever to dry.

Ok, time to take buttface out for a walk and then I’m gonna sit for a few minutes in the sun before I take on all the other housewife duties of the day:)

Dinner at Bedford Hall on Friday. I love their brussels sprouts!
Thor was so sweaty in my lap at the outdoor seating, he left paw prints:) The only activity we did on Sunday was going for a swim at the Athletic Club

Good Morning my dear readers! The sun was coming in to the bedroom this morning and I loved it! My plans for the day is to buy toilet paper (yes, very exciting I know) and then meet my friend Daniella to go work out (=me teaching and bossing her around, haha). Jim has a lot to do at work this week so he’s probably not gonna be home until late tonight. For some reason the day just feels sooo much longer when he comes home later. We don’t really do anything special on normal weekdays anyway, but it feels different somehow.
