Election in Sweden 2018

It’s been a pretty soft weekend. Yesterday we went on a little 4 mile hike with Thor in the Mianus River Park. We walked a different way than we usually do which was pretty nice. It has been a bit colder temperatures this weekend which is good for Thor when it comes to long walks.
Today, I have been helping out to feed the neighbors cat, we went for brunch at the diner next door and then I went to the gym before the Election in Sweden started.

I sent my vote, with two witness signatures from hubby and his father, by mail last Monday. I was worried it wouldn’t get there on time, but then I found out that the votes from us in other countries are not counted until the 12th. Votes by mail from abroad can come in as late as tomorrow, even though the election was today. Weird and I don’t really understand why, but that probably guarantees that my vote will get there on time. We started streaming the election on Jim’s computer connected to the TV by 2pm (Swedish time 8pm, when the voting stopped). Five hours later, I’m still confused and there’s no real results. Now they are actually waiting for my vote (and all the votes from other countries) to come in and then it could be two weeks or maybe more before we know what’s going to happen the next four years.

I don’t like to write about politics here, so…I’m done..
I just hope that everyone who could vote, did!

And now we went from the Swedish election to beers and the Chicago Bears first game. And tomorrow, my sister and her guy is here!!

Here is finally the video from our camping trip.
Camping with a gorgeous view, phones off, enjoying each others company while doing nothing.
When we were done doing nothing, we ate hot dogs and s’mores and then did some more nothing:)

Have an awesome day!

And we are back in business

Hi and welcome back to my website

I am sorry for the past week. We (= Jim) started the transfer of my website to a new host last Wednesday. They said it would take two days. I thought that during this time my website would still be up so I wrote a little message to you guys. But it took a little longer and the website went down completely. And apparently they don’t work on weekends and this was a three day weekend. So, it’s been down til last night. Very sorry for that.

We had an awesome weekend though. Jim’s dad was here from Thursday til Sunday (it was J’s birthday the 28th). Very relaxed weekend watching sports, eating good food and hung out together. Thor really loves him and slept upstairs with him all three nights:)
On Monday we drove to the beach in the morning. Low tide, so you had to walk and walk and still had the water up til the knees, so no swim in the ocean really, but it was 30 degrees and sunny, yay. We had a nice morning. And then I skyped with my sister for a while. She’s coming here on Monday!! Went to the gym, I sent my vote to the Swedish election (I hope it will get there in time), sat on the terrace and then watched a movie.

My video from our camping trip was ready to be published last Wednesday, but since I like to post it here on the blog at the same time I upload it to YouTube, I thought I could wait. So, it will be up later today 🙂

Hahah. I stayed longer at the gym and J took T out. He saw me and wanted to join:)
It’s important to vote if you can!
It didn’t matter to me what to vote for, as long as votes come in.  I’m against the SD party
and if I can vote for something other than them or have a blank vote, then that is more important!
I hope I can watch the election on Sunday, Sept 9

50 hours offline

We had a fantastic weekend away! After I had uploaded my post here on Saturday morning, I put my phone on airplane mode. We loaded the car with all our stuff and off we went. We spent the weekend in Hobart, New York, on a secluded location with beautiful view. Camping, eating hot dogs and s’mores, moments of meditation, goofing around on the grass and most of all, doing nothing. We just sat there, doing nothing. Talked to each other sometimes. And then some more nothing.

We came back home around 1pm yesterday, but I decided that I wanted to keep my phone off/on airplane mode. We went out to eat, watched tv at night and I didn’t turn my phone or computer on until 9am this morning. 50 hours offline. I used my phone for pictures, but nothing else.
Fifty hours isn’t very long, but I think it’s important to turn the phone off from time to time. When J and I go on vacation, like Kauai, St Lucia, Cayman Island or even when I go home to Sweden sometimes, I don’t use my phone for other than take photos. Sometimes there’s no service anyway. We don’t have to check instagram every 10 minutes or message with people on facebook every day. The world doesn’t end if you skip a day or two, or even ten. I would highly recommend to go offline from time to time.

It was very nice to go away for a weekend, and very good to bring Thor to experience this for the first time too. I will write more detailed about our trip later this week. Now I’m going to shut off my phone again for the night:)
