Sherwood Island State Park

Good Morning and happy Monday! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

What did we do this weekend? Well, Saturday had a little warmer temperatures, so after breakfast and an hour in the dance studio, we decided to drive 20 minutes north to Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. The summer season is over and dogs are now allowed there. We couldn’t really tell if dogs were allowed on the beach or not but since we saw other dogs there we decided it would be fine. It was so nice. Kinda windy when the sun was behind clouds, but it was quiet and peaceful, at least in the park part where there were no people at all (hardly anyone one the beaches either). Not many trees has changed colors yet, but it’s getting there and it’s so pretty.
We went to bar for early dinner after our beach adventure and then spent the night at home. We are currently watching The Haunting of the Hill House. I’ve heard and read everywhere that people think this tv-show is so scary and one of the best shows they’ve ever watched. It got 9.1 on imdb and 100% on rotten tomatoes so we gave it a shot. We’ve seen 7 episodes and we are not impressed. Bad acting, kinda bad filming, very very predictable and not scary what so ever. We don’t get it.

It’s so nice to be alone in the studio sometimes

Sunday was a cold day! Around lunchtime, we drove to Walmart and picked up some things we needed. Absolutely packed and kinda chaotic in there. We had lunch at Burger King (I haven’t had that in years,..it was ok).
At night, after a very nice dinner, we set up a little painting station on the kitchen counter/bar. Neither of us has painted with oil paint more than maybe back in school, so we bought a bunch of supplies to try at home. Yesterday we finally tried it. To paint with oil paint was fun I guess, but then the cleanup, oh my, we hadn’t really thought about that. Of course we know to not throw anything in regular garbage or down the drain, but we didn’t know that the city only has two drop off dates at the waste station. Apparently it was last week and the next one is in April. So now we have to keep the waste somewhere safe for 6 months. Urgh, things like that makes me tired (plus a little scared since I’m afraid of fires and my head always think the worst).
Then we watched another episode of the stupid and boring tv-show. It’s only ten episodes, so we thought we can just watch them all…so far it’s been 7 hours of wasted time for the past week. Have you seen it, and if so, what did you think?

Cauliflower fried in paprika and turmeric, halloumi, pork chop from the grill, salad.
So simple, but oh it was good!

Cozy time

Seriously, so cute!
It’s getting colder here in Connecticut now. When I turn on the heating system it smells really burnt and disgusting (probably lots of dust in there from the summer) so instead, I burn candles when it gets too cold inside. Or I snuggle up in a blanket with Thor:)
How’s the weather where you live? What do you do for cozy time? Let me know in the comments, I’m actually curious.

Visitors from Chicago

This weekend we had Jim’s mom and stepdad here. Wayne and their dog Rizzo drove from Chicago on Wednesday, stayed in NJ til Friday and picked Sandy up at the airport on Friday afternoon. We went out to eat at Tigin and sat outside since we had the dog with us (Thor was at home). We hung out in the lobby for a little bit after that (T and Rizzo are not really friends so it was just better to play pool and watch baseball downstairs).

On Saturday morning, Jim and I drove to their hotel in Norwalk for breakfast buffet, yum! After a tour of Greenwich and all the mansions out here, we went back to our place. The dogs were still not friends, so we figured out different things to make it work. Watched college football in the community area downstairs, and went for a walk around the neighborhood with just Thor. At night we came up with a way to trick the dogs. I came back to the apartment and then took T out while Jim, Wayne and their dog got to the apartment and then went upstairs to our terrace (it wasn’t too cold so they had a good time). When T and I came back inside, Jim’s mom and I hung out with Thor in our living room and the dogs had no idea about each other:)

On Sunday morning, W and the dog left their hotel early to drive back to home. We picked S up, went to buy coffee and brought her back to our place. We had a whole day with Jim’s mom. Went to BV’s for appetizers and the Bears game (oh my, they suck! They blew it in overtime), and then just relaxed at home for the rest of the day. Jim’s mom stayed overnight and took an uber to the airport this morning.

People love to come visit us during the fall which is very fun. Last year we had our friends Bob and Sarah, my parents and Jim’s dad and his wife here. This year it was J’s dad, then my sister and her guy and now J’s mom and stepdad. Fall is our busy season every year, haha.

seeing butterflies

Thor today, so cute ♥ It’s hard to not share hundreds of photos of him every day:)

Hi guys! How are you? We are having really high temperatures outside today and you know me, I absolutely love it! I have been outside in shorts and a top all day. I had my sweater on when walking downtown for some errands around lunch time and it was too hot.
But I’m here to talk about the weather.

Lately, I have seen lots of butterflies. White, big orange-black, yellow and small orange. Is the universe sending me signs? Or have they been there the whole time but I never looked for them, therefore I never saw them? Or is it just lots of butterflies flying around this year?

I do believe in signs, mostly because it’s more fun than not to:) If it’s God, the universe, a potato head, Miss Piggy (whatever we want to call it), sending me signs non stop these days, then I just want to say thank you. What all the signs mean, I have no clue. So many signs I have gotten during the summer seems that I have interpreted it wrong, so now I’m trying to open up and not be so close minded about it. The biggest thing here is really to just say thank you, be grateful and trust that it will turn out good, that it will all make sense in the end:)

It’s interesting to read about what butterflies mean. The Japanese believes that the white ones is the soul of the deceased, I really hope that’s not true cause I’ve seen many of them. But most of the things I read is that they represent transitions, change and new beginnings. I’m ok with that:) It’s been five years of housewifing and I’m tired of it.

First weekend of October

Hello and Good Morning! Hope you had an awesome weekend! Ours has been pretty relaxed. Since we both have been sick it felt good to not run around doing a bunch of stuff.

On Thursday, our building had a Meet & Greet party down in the common kitchen area. We have new owners and they wanted us all to meet them. We stopped by to enjoy some drinks and food. Not really any neighbors there, just the regular old people who always shows up and then a bunch of the new owner people there.

When J came home from work on Friday, we brought Thor to a bar with outdoor seating and sat there for awhile. Better enjoy the good temperatures when we can:) An hour later, we left T at home and then went back out to another bar to eat dinner. A neighbor invited us for a board game night but since we both still didn’t feel too awesome we skipped it.

Saturday started with coffee as always. After doing some errands, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings to have lunch/dinner. I have never eaten there before, their fried cheese was amazing (but oh so unhealthy!). In the evening, I tried to draw with charcoal for the very first time. I made something very simple. It’s not as easy as it seams. Using a charcoal pencil is probably a way better option, but I had these crayon kinds and it was very messy. We watched a movie, The Informant, and then I drew a little bit more before bedtime. I love drawing or painting but these days I have no idea what to make. When I was a kid it was easier.

Sunday was a slow day. Drank coffee, watched hgtv, did some stuff on my computer and woops, it was 3pm. The weather was all of a sudden really amazing. 25+ degrees (felt like 30 because of the humidity) and sunny. Like summer! So J and I drove to Donut Delight to have coffee. We sat outside their shop for awhile, in shorts and t-shirts! In the evening, we fed Thor and then went for a 20 minute walk over to our friends house. I had put jeans on because I figured it would be cold when going home, and oh man, so sweaty. Felt like we were in Florida. It’s October and jeans and a t-shirt is too hot, LOVE!
Our friends, Daniella and Gareth, had made this awesome Mexican chili. They know how to cook so I didn’t expect other than a fantastic dinner. A chili that has been cooking for 8 hours can’t be bad:) We had such a great time. Closer to midnight we realized how late it was and that we had to go home to Thor. I’m actually kinda tired today, haha.
