WE ARE PREGNANT!!
Written November 28, 2018, published in February 2019

We had decided that I would take a test today. Jim got up, got in the shower to get ready for work. He kinda seemed like he had forgot about it. So I asked “Should I take a test today or not?” and he said his usual “Sure”.
I peed right on the stick, put it on top of the toilet and walked into the kitchen where J and Thor was. We put a timer on the phone. 3 minutes.
We walked into the bathroom. TWO LINES! I picked up the instruction paper to try to read if two lines meant pregnant or not. I was so nervous and excited that I didn’t realize that it actually said right on the test next to the two lines that one meant not pregnant and two means pregnant.
Aaahhh!! We are having a baby! With a quick calculation on first day of last menstruation it seems like our due date is August 5th. Hahaha, what if it’s two days later, then my sister would become an aunt on her 30th birthday, how cool would that be:)
Holy moly macaroni! We are pregnant! A little baby Sura. And oh shit, we have a lot of work to do now. I have to find a doctor and a hospital to give birth at. I have looked before and it doesn’t seem like there are any midwives near here and the closest birthing center is like 48 minutes away which means over an hour away if you include the terrible Stamford traffic lights, that won’t work. I have to do some research today. I will be 8 weeks around the holidays so the quicker I can call and book an appointment the better. And then we have to figure out where to move and build a house. Time is running out. But I feel unusually calm. Until yesterday I have been quite stressed about everything, but right now I feel extremely calm. What’s up with that?:)
Hihih, I have a tiny human in my belly that is half of me and half of Jim ♥

Whiskey in a Teacup

Very soft four day weekend. Ok, well, Jim was working from home on Friday and I have been busy as well, but it’s been relaxing.
We went to play basketball together on Friday. I haven’t played since high school and of course I jammed my finger in the ball when trying to take it away from Jim dribbling. My right middle finger is swollen and blue. I’m trying to use it like I normally would to not get stiff joints but avoid lifting and other movements that hurts. I’m also taping it together with the ring finger if I know I’m going to do a lot of stuff.
Yesterday (Saturday) my cold sore looked horrible and my finger was blue and I was not at all in the mood to go out doing a bunch of stuff, so we stayed at home and got a lot of things done. Very productive week actually.
Today, we went for a walk over to Target around 9am. I finally found decent candles and a few other things. One thing was the book Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Wihterspoon. She’s such an inspiration, a real business woman and she’s just too cute. Since I got a gift card from my mother in law I thought I could buy that as a gift to myself. I have to read up on the southern lifestyle for our future move;)
>> The candle holders on the second picture is something I put together myself. Very easy to make and so cute for Christmas.
Our Thanksgiving 2018

Good Morning and Happy (day after) Thanksgiving! Hope you are doing awesome!
Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day here in America. We slept in a little, cause why not:) I woke up with a cold sore on my nose (fifth one since August, what is going on?) and I was quite upset about it at first, but when Jim came home from the grocery store with coffee from donut delight he bought on the way home, I decided to forget about it and be happy instead, even if I could feel the pain.
We watched the Thanksgiving Parade on tv with our coffees. Marching band after marching band, they all sound the same and I don’t see the point, but that’s very American I guess. After that, we put our workout clothes on and went down to the gym.

We started cooking around noon. Jim bought a small turkey breast this time, it took about 2.5 hours in the oven. Lauren came over at some point to drop off a few things and then took Thor for a walk. Jim watched football. When it was getting closer for the bird to be done, I started cooking the other food. We had mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots and peas, gravy, stuffing, cranberry and biscuits. Very simple but it was perfect for us.
Jim didn’t get to play football last year on Thanksgiving and I think that was the first year ever he missed it, so I told him to play with Thor, so after dinner we went down to the lobby. A British family that we know here was down there. Their daughter just learned to walk kinda so she was walking after Thor barking back at him. Eventually lots of people showed up, so we had to bring Thor home.
We had pumpkin pie that we bought at a bakery nearby, played some rounds of HIVE (a two player strategy game) and then watched football for the rest of the night.
Very relaxing day actually. And I love this kind of cooking, cause you can clean up while you’re waiting on something to be done and it’s easy cleanup after the meal, so our kitchen was basically clean the whole time which I like. I hate when there’s a mess:)
Jim is working from home today. Nice to have him home even if we are only sitting by our computers. I made coffee, had some leftover food for breakfast, watched a youtube video and now I have things to do on my laptop. L might come over this morning again to borrow Thor for a walk. T makes everyone happy and people are always asking us if they can take care of him or take him for walks, maybe we should take advantage of that more, hahah.
I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend. Be thankful for what you have and let your loved ones know that you care about them.

Mycket avkopplande dag faktiskt.
Jim jobbar hemifran idag. L kanske kommer over denna morgon igen for att lana Thor for en promenad.
