green days

it’s so beautifully green now ♥

This morning Jim covered his face and took Thor to the vet for a follow up appointment for his bladder stones. What we didn’t know was that there’s a drop-off at 8am and pickup isn’t until noon. Poor thing. We aren’t allowed to go in, they just come out to the car with their own leash and brings him inside. We thought that maybe Jim could go home for a quick sip of coffee and then have to go back right away, but nope, he’s going to be there til noon. He must be so scared and confused.
He will have new x-rays taken to see if the stones are still there and then we have also asked them to clean his ear cause we have seen that there is a piece of hair stuck in there that makes it very itchy so he keeps scratching which of course can cause infections (that thick strand of hair is too far down in his ear canal so we can’t safely clean it ourselves, you have to be really careful with dogs ears). I hope he won’t be too upset with us when he comes back home, we have to make sure he gets some extra love.

Yesterday I went on a 1.5 hour long walk by myself. It was absolutely lovely. For the first half I listened to a podcast cause a lot of the houses on that “cute street” that I like to call it has full renovation going on these days and I didn’t feel like listening to that. But then I took my headphones out for the second half of my walk and it was amazing cause it was also kind of lunch time for workers. I could still hear some construction but mostly I heard an owl and some birds singing. Then a woman came running past me singing out loud to her music she had in her headphones, and later down the street I heard workers sing along to some nice Mexican music (it was after all Cinco de Mayo yesterday). It was just such a perfect walk. It’s nice to be out these days since you really don’t meet many people, I might have met three people plus that running woman.
I do miss sounds of people though. I haven’t really seen any kids for the past two months which kinda feels weird. I really hope our city will open up more soon. I miss a lot of things. But for now I am going to enjoy the quietness:)

May the Thors be with You

MAY THE THORS BE WITH YOU

Helluuu! How are you? I feel like maybe I should make a real update about what we are doing these days cause I haven’t updated here much lately. However, we are all doing the same thing every day; staying at home – so maybe not that exciting:) Life starts to open up a bit more now though it seems like, I’ve seen friends all over the world posting about that parks has been opened up now since May 1st > except for Sweden, they don’t seem to understand how bad this virus is, I’ve seen friends post pictures of themselves at cafe’s and restaurants and going to playgrounds with their kids every day since this all started and people still go to work and school > but the rest of the world is slowly opening up which is nice. I think they have been talking about May 15th for us, but who knows, we’ll see.

Speaking of nothing, yesterday several cars came, honking and honking, and then stopped outside our apartment in the middle of the street. On the cars they had written “happy birthday” and they all came out of their cars wearing facemasks and screaming to their friend who were standing on a balcony in the building across from us. So cute. We saw something similar the day before as well. That is just so sweet.
For awhile we heard church bells at 7pm every night but that seems to have stopped. I think that was such a beautiful thing. Here in Stamford noone is cheering at 7 like they do every night in NYC so the bells felt like a nice appreciation for our heroes. Someone I know posted about her 30 hour shifts at the hospital in new york about a month ago, they do so much for everyone, they need all the love♥

And speaking about hospitals, this morning I covered my face, put rubber gloves on and walked over to quest diagnostics to do my blood test (cause as you know, I’m still not cleared). I got in right away…only to find out that there was no order from my doctor even though I called them about it a week ago. My doctors office hadn’t opened yet at that time so all I could do was to go home and reschedule. Once I was back, my husband and Thor came to meet me and we all went for a little walk together before we went home to drink coffee.
It sucks of course that I couldn’t do my test today, but good thing is that now I know how it looks like over there, I’ve been a little nervous considering everything going on in the world, but it was organized and clean, so I don’t mind going back later this week:)

Thor is 6 years old today

Happy Birthday my sweet boy!

I can’t believe he is 6 years old already. My little baby is growing up.
And how are we going to celebrate him today? Well, we are staying at home of course and he will get some extra snuggles, extra playtime and yes he will get some extra yummy treats (no more than his sensitive tummy can handle but he deserves a little extra today). Greenies have been fine for him over the years so maybe he’ll get an extra big piece of that today:) Other than that, not much going on today. Quarantine or not, we would probably be home celebrate the same way regardless. How do you celebrate a dogs birthday? It’s not like they know what a birthday is haha. Thor can’t have cakes and other dog cookies so snuggles and greenies it is:)

New Mattress

April 23, 2020

We finally have a new mattress, yay! I have been wanting a new one since I moved in with Jim (so, for 8 years). We kept saying that we’ll buy a new one once we move to a house. But, we’re not moving to a house anytime soon, the house plans have been postponed and postponed and years just go by. My back and neck has been killing me and I have been sleeping terribly for years
(ok, part of the reason is that we have 8 lbs of fluff in bed with us who likes to take my space and likes to kick me off the bed and I have to sleep in the weirdest positions and wake up a thousand times a night hahaha, and that cute problem is still there. However, since the quarantine started he has been extra snuggly so now he’s sleeping right in between us  by our chests instead of kicking my legs off) 🙂
Now, we finally decided to buy a new mattress anyway…. only to find out that all the waste stations are closed due to quarantine. We can’t get rid of the old mattress (really great timing to buy new stuff haha). So, we had to put the new mattress on top of the old one hahah! It’s like the “Princess and the pea” 😀

The mattress is really nice to sleep on, I have been sleeping so much better these past few weeks. I love a really firm bed, like the rock hard beds in hotels, while J wants it super soft and foamy. We got a mattress that is somewhere in the middle of the scale of soft/firm, a 6 I think (10 being the firmest). We figured it’s probably not that good for you to sleep on those rock hard beds for too long, so this feels perfect, we both got what we wanted:) Of course, the bed is a bit extra wobbly now since the old mattress underneath the new one is rounded on top, but twisting and turning feels great, I don’t wake up by J’s or T’s every move anymore.

(now we just need to get rid of the pot smoking neighbors who seems to only have energy to do stuff in the middle of the night. Thor and I wake up every night these days from them screaming, laughing, organizing or just running around well past 2 am and then several times a day and night our bedroom (and the hallway outside our apartment) stinks of all sorts of different types of smoke, it’s nasty and gives me a massive headache. And we have no idea how the smell comes into our apartment. Unfortunately I can’t prove that it’s them, so what can we do..?)
