Tydligen ska vi fa en riktigt rejal snostorm har fr.o.m imorgon eftermiddag. De varnar pa tv, staller in flyg och butikerna har langa koer for att alla ska kopa mat infor de kommande dagarna. Forhoppningsvis blir det inte sa farligt, men jag tycker anda att det ar bra att de varnar. Vi vet ju hur det gick med hurricane Sandy.
Apparently we are getting a really big snowstorm here from tomorrow afternoon. They are warning on tv, cancelling flights and the stores have long lines because everybody what to buy food for the upcoming days. Hopefully it’s not gonna be that bad, but I think its good that they warn you. We all know how it went with hurricane Sandy.

They don’t care if you pass gas 5. They aren’t grossed out by your sweat 6. They want you to speak up if an assist hurts or makes you uncomfortable 7. They wish you didn’t come to class to “sweat out your sick” 8. They love when you bring your own yoga mat to class 9. They want you to practice at least twice a week 10. They don’t mind if you take class from another instructor 11. They like when you get to class a little early and prefer you stay until class is over
Jag ar inte yoga larare, men jag har undervisat dans i manga manga ar och dessa punkter galler for vilken dansklass man an tar (forutom punkt 8 🙂 ).
Lararen finns dar for att hjalpa dig att bli battre. Det ar manga elever som kanner sig obekvama med just beroring och att svetten rinner. Som larare vill man att eleven ska forsta och gora ratt for att undvika skador och for att forbattra sig sjalv och da ar beroring ibland det lattaste sattet att korrigera. Och att svetten rinner ar naturligt och det visar pa att din kropp arbetar. Jag skulle ocksa lagga till tre punkter. 1. Har du langt har ar det battre for dig att satta upp det sa att det inte stor dig under lektionen. 2. Valj klader som du kan rora dig i och kanner dig bekvam med istallet for att kla dig i det som ar trendigt. 3. Om dar finns en spegel i salen, anvand den som ett redskap for att korrigera dig sjalv och inte for att se hur din kropp ser ut. Manga dansare stirrar pa spegelbilden och glommer bort att kanna hur ovningarna ar i kroppen. Alldeles for manga dansare far atstorningar pga spegeln sa nar jag undervisar gora jag garna ovningar at andra hallet sa att eleven slipper tanka pa hur haret ser ut, om rumpan ar stor eller att jamfora sig med andra dansare. Yoga ska vara nagot som du gor for att ma bra, inte for att det later coolt och en dans-/yogaklass ar ingen modevisning.
I’m not a yoga teacher, but I have taught dance for many many years and these points goes for whatever dance class you take (except point 8 🙂 ).
The teacher is there to help you to get better. There is a lot of students that is uncomfortable with for example touching and to be sweaty. As a teacher you want your student to understand and do right to avoid getting hurt and to improve themselves and then touching is sometimes the easiest way to correct. And that you sweat is natural and it shows that your body is working. I want to add three things. 1. If you have longer hair then it’s better for you to out it up so that it doesn’t bother you during the class. 2. Choose clothes that you can move in and that you feel comfortable with rather than what is trendy. 3. If there is a mirror in the studio, use it as a tool to correct yourself and not to check your body out. Many dancers are staring at themselves and forgets to feel how the exercises are in the body. Way too many dancers have eating disorders because of the mirror so when I teach I prefer to make the exercises in the other direction so that the student don’t have to think about how their hair looks like, if their butt is big or compare to the other dancers. Yoga should be something that you do to feel good, not because it sounds cool and a dance-/yogaclass is not a fashion show.
Oh, vad jag onskar att jag hade haft min kamera i handen nar vi gick pa var kvallspromenad med Thor igar. Otroligt vackra farger och helt fantastisk solnedgang. Fick noja mig med mobilen.
Oh, how I wish that I had my camera in my hand when we went for our evening walk with Thor yesterday. Incredibly beautiful colors and an amazing sunset. Had to be ok with my phone.
Hej mina blogglasare! Sno pa marken som sakta forsvinner i regnet idag. Vi kom inte hem supersent igar, men vi ar ratt trotta idag. Vi var pa en bar igar kvall, 200 Fifth Ave Bar, i Brooklyn. Var van Johanna fyller ar idag sa det firades med en sista minuten get together. Vi var inte dar sa lange men det var valdigt trevligt. Just nu sitter jag pa pinterest och kollar bilder fran olika platser i varlden medan mina tva killar vilar. Svart att valja vart var nasta semester kommer bli. Allt beror ocksa pa nar vi kan aka. Ar sugen pa Asien, men vi se. Jag har ju bara sett 10 stater i USA (12 om man raknar en oplanerad biltur) sa man kanske ska ta sig igenom det forst. Jag vet inte. Nar vadret ar sa trakigt har i NY drommer jag mig bort till var som helst som inte har sno.
Hi my blogreaders! Snow on the ground that slowly disappear in the rain today. We didn’t come home so late last night, but we are pretty tired today. We went to a bar last night, 200 Fifth Ave Bar, in Brooklyn. Our friend Johanna has birthday today so we celebrated that with a last minute get together. We were not there for very long but it was very nice. Right now, I’m on pinterest looking at pictures from different places in the world while my two boys takes a nap. Hard to decide where our next vacation will be, Everything also depends on when we can go. I’m interested in Asia, but we’ll see. I have only seen 10 states in USA (12 if we count an unexpected car ride) so maybe we should go through that first. I don’t know. When the weather is this boring in NY, I’m dreaming of any place that doesn’t have snow.

Jag berattade ju for er att Thor nu ar en tonaring och gar baklanges med vissa saker. Han ar bra pa “leave it” och “drop it” men ibland ar det helt enkelt roligare att tugga och svalja innan vi hinner peta ut det ur munnen. Inatt spydde han klockan 4 och sen klockan 5. Sma trabitar. Stackars lilla halsen. Men, han mar bra iaf. Vi ar dock supertrotta. Thor och jag tog en sovmorgon tillsammans till klockan 9 da vi drog oss ut pa en promenad. Underbart vader idag!
I told you about that Thor now is a teenager and goes backwards with some things. He is good at “leave it” and “drop it” but sometimes its simply more fun to chew and swallow before we get to grab things out of the mouth. At night he threw up at 4 and then at 5. Small wood pieces. Poor little throat. But, he feels fine. We are super tired though. Thor and I took a sleep-in together until 9 when we dragged ourselves out for a walk. Wonderful weather today!
