On Saturday, October 31, it was the Fourteenth Annual BPC Halloween Puppy Parade and this year we decided to join. The parade started off behind our building in the South Cove part of Battery Park City Esplanade and we all walked up to the North Cove where all the dogs and owners could walk in front of a judge and win prices.
Thor freaked out by all the people and dogs so he was excited but anxious and was barking the entire time. Guess if we were tired after 1,5 hour of constant barking? We didn’t know how to handle it more than let him bark it out for a while without any attention from us or others, which helped and he was quiet, but as soon as someone wanted to take pictures (because he is the most adorable puppy in Battery Park) or if we moved closer to other dogs or someone he knows the barking started again. We kept our distance and only focused on trying to keep Thor quiet, so we missed all the fun. We walked in the “dog and owner combo” and got judged and then walked off again. We wanted to have Thor in the “small breed” contest too, but for some reason right before we were gonna walk they skipped us and started the “large breed” which we were confused by, but oh well.
They also had a raffle and we actually won $25 dollar on dry cleaning, so that’s good. But we didn’t win the “dog and owner combo”. I didn’t see that family then but I saw the photos online later (HERE) and yes, they should definitely win. After all it was a dog parade and this family was dressed as Hillary Clinton, secret service and the dog was Donald Trump with a suit and a wig which I’m impressed that the dog was ok with.

Turn around

Today I did something funny but also kinda horrible. Thor and I came back from our morning walk, we took the elevator and got off and there was the Fresh Direct delivery girl and boxes. I talked to her for a while and then T and I continued to our door. I thought it looked strange around the handle and then I opened the door and it was not as heavy as normal. Oops, I just walked in to wrong apartment! It took a few seconds for me to realize I was on the wrong floor. I started to laugh and the delivery girl must have thought I was crazy. I really hope that whoever lives there didn’t get scared (cause I don’t think I know who lives right under us so I can’t walk up and talk to them later). The apartment was dark so maybe they were sleeping, so even creepier then. There is an old lady on that floor and I hope it wasn’t her apartment and that it scared her, that would be terrible.
Things like this is something I can walk around thinking about for days, feeling bad for it. That is something I have to work on. It happened, an honest mistake and it can’t be undone. Let it go. But, so typical me, I do stupid stuff all the time. Good thing that I can laugh about it:)

NY ISLANDERS vs CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

On October 9th we went to a hockey game together with some people from J’s work. It was the NY Islanders first game at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and their first game was against last seasons champions Chicago Blackhawks. My very first “real” hockey game (I went to the final of college hockey in 2014 in Philadelphia, but I don’t really count college as a real game, haha). I’m not a big hockey fan, even though I grew up in a hockey country, but I have to admit that watching The Blackhawks play, on tv or live, is pretty fun. Lots of Swedish players of course on the Chicago team.
We had a fun night with really good food, desserts and candy 🙂 And the seats were perfect! We had one of the bigger suits right in the middle so we saw both sides well. We had the cameras and the announcers right in front of us. I was starring at some men that I thought I recognize and in the end J told me that they were famous retired hockey players or something and now work as announcers for the Blackhawks. He kept saying that I should go down to them and get a photo, but since I don’t know who they are it would have been embarrassing, hahah.
This was a big deal since it was the Islanders first game and Barclays has never before been turned into a hockey arena. The mayor was there (he got to walk pass us in the vip line to get in) and Alexa Ray Joel (Billy Joel’s daughter, who we sat next to at our favorite restaurant two years ago) sang the National Anthem. The place was not full though and lots of people wore Blackhawks jerseys. I think it was a fun game, it went to overtime with 3 against 3 and then Chicago won.

I walked around with a sleeping baby in the stroller in my old neighborhood. Lovely day!

My husband is in Nashville for a bachelor party this weekend. He was in Minnesota for work and a wedding party last weekend. I organized a brunch for the Swedish girls on Sunday last week, but a stomach flew made us cancel it in the last minute. Other than that I haven’t had any plans. This weekend I have a cold sore on my nose so I prefer to just be alone. It’s nice to be alone sometimes. Of course I miss my husband like crazy, but I really believe it’s good to miss each other sometimes. We have a strong relationship so a few days, or even weeks, apart can’t hurt us. And soon we have a whole week together. Sun, palm trees, beach and adventures! New York has been warm this week, like plus 20 something degrees, so our vacation might seem early, but we really need to get away and clear our heads a little and enjoy each others company. Not sure what to do with Thor though, we need to find someone.
