Keep on flossing

I survived the dentist visit yesterday:) I went in first and J had to sit there and wait for his turn. I mentioned my issues, they took pictures and cleaned my teeth. It was a nice old man who seem to love to talk about the importance of flossing. He had the same speeches about flossing with both me and J. Apparently 90% of people floss the wrong way so he had us show him how we do it. I passed the test and I think J did too, so that’s good:) My teeth actually looks good but I need to go to an orthodontist to fix the thread that is apparently detached, which I didn’t know. And I have to start wearing my night guard every single night. And of course, we should keep on flossing every day ?

We have been spoiled at the dentist in NYC with the newest things there is. We even had a massage chair at the old place. This place we went to yesterday took us back in time haha. But as long as the job gets done, who cares how fancy the equipment is.

After that, we walked to the bank downtown to close an account and then we sat down at Tigin’s outdoor seating. A hot and humid afternoon so sitting outside felt nice. I ordered really good fish tacos for $5, yum! Eventually the outdoor area got crowded with Irish men, so we went home to our puppy.

scared of the dentist

Hej and Good Morning! Thor and I went for a walk to the coffee shop in the city center earlier. I paid extra for my coffee since I paid less on Tuesday, so that felt good. And then we walked home again. Holy moly it’s sweaty outside!

Later today, Jim and I are going to the dentist. It’s apparently across the street from our apartment so that’s nice. I’m super nervous:( I hate going to the dentist. There is a thousand things wrong in my mouth. On my last visit to a dentist in Sweden (Dec 2012), I was told that I don’t have to go to the dentist that often, every other year is fine, cause my teeth looks so good. 6 months later, when I had got married, I started to go with J to his dentist in Midtown Manhattan and they have done a lot of stuff in my mouth over the years and made me feel like I had the worst teeth of all time. Who to trust? Well, I prefer to trust America. Here you get your teeth checked and cleaned twice a year and in Sweden they told me to come back maybe in two years.

My mouth and smile was one of my favorite part of my body when I was younger. I got braces in a very early age (which I now understand was waaaaayyyy too early) and when everybody else had a metal mouth, I had a straight and white smile that I was proud of. And then came my wisdom teeth which caused one tooth to fall out of it’s placement. And then I started to drink a lot more tea and fell in love with coffee. The thread behind the upper front teeth has been broken many many times because the lower teeth doesn’t fit….which also caused that my jaw is out of line to the right these days, so everything is crooked and I hate my smile. On top of all this,..I clench so hard at night that my teeth are disappearing. All these things can be fixed, but at a pretty big cost and I have already put a lot of money on my teeth after the weird shit the Swedish dentist had done.

So I’m scared of what this dentist will say today. Maybe they will tell me that the NYC dentist had been doing shit wrong too and I have to start all over again. Trust issues, big time! But, I’m hoping that they can help on some of these issues. We have great insurance now with J’s new job so maybe I can get something done. Wish me good luck today.

“Spider Sliding”

I went to the gym earlier today. There was one man on the treadmill in there and I decided to go in to the little room to warm up. Oh, it felt so good to be on the floor, just to feel the floor underneath me. With closed eyes, I slowly started to move.

Eventually this turned into some rolling around and crawling, like some kind of creature. I love doing that, the smaller and weirder the better, hehe. But my socks were kinda slippery and I didn’t wanna take them off (I don’t know what other gym people think of that) so it turned in to some sort-of “spider slides”, with feet kinda staying on the floor the whole time. It was fun. I tried a lot of different things and kept in mind that this was a warmup and I wanted all muscles to have been worked after it, and yes, big and small muscles were all warmed up after this:) The video clip above is from the end of my warmup so you can definitely tell that I’m getting tired hehe. After that, I was on the bike for a while and then did some pilates. Felt good.

Bought a book

Hello my friends! This morning I took T out for a walk, then had some breakfast while reading in a book to pass time. Closer to 10am when everything in this city opens, I walked over to the Stamford mall to buy a book at Barnes & Noble. On my way home I bought coffee and actually got it half off because the internet didn’t work for the card to go through and I only had a dollar in my wallet, so that was nice. They are always so nice to me there. Of course I will go back another day and pay an extra dollar for my next coffee.

So what book did I buy? Well, a Kauai travel guide! We booked our flights a few weeks ago and this week we are looking for a place to stay. Doesn’t really matter where we stay, we can rent a tent or sleep in a car for all I care. I’m not going to Hawaii to spend time in a room anyway. This is another huge dream of mine that will come true. SO EXCITED! I’ve been dreaming and fantasizing about this trip since I was 14 years old. Ya, 14, not kidding. Our trip is in January so I have a lot of time to build up excitement around this. But honestly, to be any more excited than I am right now, might cause me to explode:)

Some might think it’s stupid to buy a travel guide. We have the internet. But, another dream that I had as a kid was that when I’m an old lady I want to have a whole bookshelf with travel books of places I’ve been to throughout my life. We never really traveled when I grew up so when I visited someones house and they happened to have a lot of travel books, I kept dreaming that I would have that too one day. I don’t buy books for all my trips though:( I only have Portugal, our Italian honeymoon spot and three New York City books (no idea why I have 3..). For our Hawaii trip, I felt like I really wanted one. It’s something special with having a guide book when you go on vacation:)

Do you own any travel guide books?

Football Sunday and cookies

This morning started with a walk to get coffee. Noone outside at 8am on a Sunday, very quiet and nice. Later, Jim took Thor for a little car ride and I did stuff at home. When they came back, we went down to the gym and I was on the bike for a little bit. Felt good for my knees.

While Jim went to the rooftop to grill hot dogs, I baked chocolate chip cookies. A youtuber that I like had recipe for some interesting choc chip cookies and I felt like trying it out. J thinks they are a little dry, but I think that they might seem dry because of the almond flour, cause I think they are good:) I can post the recipe in a separate post if you like.

We are just watching football now. Very relaxed. Thor is napping on the couch next to us and his stinkies are the absolute worst today hahaha.
