Before the park was covered in salt
Really, I don’t understand why they pour this huge amount of salt here on NY’s streets. They should get a pat on the shoulder for how fast they work with shoveling the snow, but do they really need to cover every single inch with a thick layer of salt? When I came here four years ago it was a lot more snow on the ground and the shoes I had then got thanks to the salt so destroyed that within a month I had to throw them away. Now we have a little puppy that I’m worried about. We wipe him properly, leave our shoes outside the door and vacuum/wipe the floors more often, but we can unfortunately not stop him from licking the snow when he’s also looking for a spot to potty on. Last night we were up taking care of T’s “nice surprise” that probably was caused by the salt. Poor our little dog. There is, like I said, nowhere we can let him potty where there is no salt and I refuse to (like many people in NY) teach him to use peepads indoors.
I have during the night been dreaming of the future when we live in a warmer place and don’t need any salt on the streets and the wardrobe doesn’t have any winter clothes. That motivates me to get through cold winters in NY for some more years.
