Like every year, I’m excited about The Academy Awards tonight. I haven’t seen a lot of the movies that is being nominated, but it’s still fun to watch it. It wasn’t until I moved to NYC that I watched the oscars, and that’s only because of time difference, I couldn’t stay up all night long since I had school or work the next morning.
Awhile ago I took my husband to see the movie Moonlight, and that one is apparently up for several oscars. Yesterday we went to see the movie LION, which is up for a bunch of oscars as well. What a beautiful movie! The little boy, who btw had never seen a movie before he saw his own, is just amazing. Dev Patel’s part is a bit too long and a little boring but I guess they needed to make it long for him and Nicole Kidman to be up for nominations. The only one in that movie who deserves an Oscar is the little 8 year old Sunny Pawar, but he won’t get one.
Apparently a Swedish movie has two nominations, for Foreign Movie and Makeup. It’s fun that a small country like mine gets nominations. Last year The 100 Year Old Man got nominated, this year it’s A Man Called Ove. And of course Sweden is extra proud of Alicia Vikander who won Best Supporting Actress last year:)
I would be very disappointed if La La Land wins everything tonight just like on the Golden Globes. I haven’t watched it, so I shouldn’t actually say anything, but the little singing I’ve seen and heard is just absolutely terrible. There seems to be a lot better options of winners for all their nominations. Excited to see how it turns out.
