Construction city

Walking along the river when I take Thor out is what I’m gonna miss the most by living here. It’s so peaceful and beautiful.

But, Battery Park City is just a big construction site right now. The worst is that they are building a new bridge right by the dog park so people don’t take their dogs there much anymore and you have to walk around all of it to cross the highway to get to the subways. This is supposed to be done next year! And for months, we’ve had buildings around us with ugly scaffolding all around them. It’s good for when it’s raining and you still need to take the dogs out, but people seem to not care to pick up after their dogs when these are up so it’s nasty there, and I notice on Thor that he doesn’t really know where to pee anymore. When the buildings by the water needs scaffolding, they build it on the sidewalk, aka the park, starting over 10 feet away from the building which makes the view not the greatest. By the boats they have more constructions going on, the ice rink is really ugly to look at and further north the different park sites are surrounded by wood walls and machines. The restaurants with outdoor seating that we have along the water is now all covered too which can’t be that good for their businesses when it’s warm and sunny.

I’ve been sad about leaving this place because of the park, the river and the fact that we know everybody here (or, Thor does). Workers, machines, noises and poop makes it easier for me to be excited to move. Even if Stamford would have equally much construction going on, I don’t care, cause it will be a new place for us to explore.
