On Saturday, October 31, it was the Fourteenth Annual BPC Halloween Puppy Parade and this year we decided to join. The parade started off behind our building in the South Cove part of Battery Park City Esplanade and we all walked up to the North Cove where all the dogs and owners could walk in front of a judge and win prices.
Thor freaked out by all the people and dogs so he was excited but anxious and was barking the entire time. Guess if we were tired after 1,5 hour of constant barking? We didn’t know how to handle it more than let him bark it out for a while without any attention from us or others, which helped and he was quiet, but as soon as someone wanted to take pictures (because he is the most adorable puppy in Battery Park) or if we moved closer to other dogs or someone he knows the barking started again. We kept our distance and only focused on trying to keep Thor quiet, so we missed all the fun. We walked in the “dog and owner combo” and got judged and then walked off again. We wanted to have Thor in the “small breed” contest too, but for some reason right before we were gonna walk they skipped us and started the “large breed” which we were confused by, but oh well.
They also had a raffle and we actually won $25 dollar on dry cleaning, so that’s good. But we didn’t win the “dog and owner combo”. I didn’t see that family then but I saw the photos online later (HERE) and yes, they should definitely win. After all it was a dog parade and this family was dressed as Hillary Clinton, secret service and the dog was Donald Trump with a suit and a wig which I’m impressed that the dog was ok with.
